From 0-4 to 4-0: Rookie quarterbacks make history

Recommended Posts

It's the first time in the Super Bowl era that rookie quarterbacks have gone 4-0 in the same week, according to Elias.

(if this is wrong, don't shoot the messenger) [some media outlets say the Bills lost yesterday]

http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/283850/from-0-4-to-4-0-rookie-quarterbacks-make-history

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Stat line: 10-of-19, 82 yards, one interception, one rushing touchdown, 40.2 passer rating in a 13-12 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Positives: The Bills did not ask Allen to do much against the Titans besides get the ball out and avoid mistakes. He generally did both, taking only one sack after being sacked seven times last week. He was intercepted once on an accurate pass that should have been caught by wide receiver Andre Holmes. Allen continued to look more comfortable with his feet than his arm, scrambling for a 14-yard touchdown in the first quarter, his third rushing score of the season.

Negatives: Allen likely will hold his spot entering Week 6 as statistically the worst starting quarterback in the NFL, after he failed to eclipse 100 passing yards in Sunday’s game. He notably underthrew Kelvin Benjamin on a third-and-10 in the second half and had another dump-off pass fall at a receiver’s feet. Allen is not working with a great group of pass-catchers but has done little to make them better through four starts.

What's ahead in Week 6: The Bills play their next two games on the road, starting at the Houston Texans next Sunday. Coach Sean McDermott indicated after Sunday’s win over Tennessee that Buffalo will continue with a run-heavy game plan that protects Allen. -- Mike Rodak

the others are listed too of course

Serious question--who hates the ESPN Bills team page situation more: Rodak for being forced to cover the Bills who he clearly can't stand, or we the fanbase who unfortunately stumble across "articles" (lazy cut/paste national narrative hot takes) that his name is attached to?

Yes it is.   As long as I see improvement week to week I won't be overly concerned (all QB's have hiccups)

Amen to that!!!

And it’s not just Allen, I’m hoping for progress from all the young guys, setting us up for the future. There will be some stinkers along the way, and people are going to need to chill....

Very true Audie.  Growth by all

But the QB is the most important for true long term success

If you don’t have that, your opportunity is very limited.

What difference do qb statistics with a green rookie qb?  Aren't wins what is important.  Allen has a long way to go.  Did anyone think he was going to put up big numbers his first year?  What can we expect with a new o line that is just starting to develop and a receiving corp that is one of the weakest in the league.   Have some patience.  Allen will get there.

Wins are more important for a rookie than gaudy stats imo.

Someone needs to put stickum on KB’s hands.

He has to have the worse target to catch ratio on the NFL

and it is not all Josh’s fault
