Then why did I recognize the mistake immediately? I don’t think I am any more knowledgeable than anyone else on this site. My point was that at least two people paid to report sports news made a mistake. Big deal? No, unless your Ryan Lewis. It has been my experience that people like to be recognized for a job well done, Lewis deserves the recognition. Lewis’s performance and how he became the starting corner opposite White, for this game is a story. Again at least two people paid to report missed that. In my opinion I think it’s lazy reporting.

Or Ryan Lewis’s mother.

“Tre’Davious White is steadily establishing himself as one of the NFL’s better lock-down corners. Phillip Gaines more than held his own on the other side, and Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer are back to the form that made them one of the league’s better safety combinations in 2017.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Phillip Gaines hasn’t played since being injured in first game. Wasn’t it Ryan Lewis that “more than held his own”? So Vic wrote this incorrectly and editor missed it. I don’t think there is one person on this site that would have made this mistake. It’s not really a big deal, just sloppy and lazy.

Do you have the publication date? That would shed some light

nice catch ch. Hyde and poyer back to form implies he is talking about the last part of this season. That said, I can give Vic a pass once in a while.

This board is littered with misspelled names, wrong players, etc.... you put enough characters on the page and you are bound to have some flubs. Accidents happen. If it happens on the regular, sure, it’s not good.

I think it was autocorrect - if you misspell Ryan Lewis the device will autocorrect to Phillip Gaines almost every time.  Simple mistake - LOL ?

We see it with posters on here where autocorrect changes the correct player they should be referring to - sometimes it also tries to fix their spelling and makes the grammar of the sentence go way off - and on some occasions I think autocorrect actually rewrites their entire post into complete nonsense because I can not believe a rational person could have as hot of a take as we see - pretty sure it is all autocorrect.    Sarcasm Off

In reality - writers at all levels are lazy and editing is very poor - go to any sports, news, or entertainment site and read a few articles and they are littered with mistakes - misspelled words, incorrect words, grammatical errors, and my personal demon that I despise most: entire sections repeated because they used copy and paste to move something, but did not cut it from later.

It gets worse as the devices think more for us.
