Josh Allen's arm strength forces a defenses to defend the entire width of the field.

Wash.  Rinse.  Repeat.  It's one of the (many) reasons why anyone suggesting Nate Peterman could have played as well as Allen in this (or any) game needs to sit down and keep quiet.

After looking like it had hit rock bottom for the first six quarters of the year, defense finally has returned to Buffalo.

Riding on its momentum from a strong second half against the Chargers in Week 2, the Bills defense put together its most electrifying performance of the year against the Vikings, delivering hope to Bills fans everywhere. The defense held the Vikings scoreless for over three quarters and forced three turnovers. The rush defense was solid, pass coverage was on point and a pass rush led by Jerry Hughes brought it to Kirk Cousins all day long.

Let’s look at all the big plays the defense created, along with a couple of tweaks made this week, to help the Bills shut down the Vikings.

All-22 Analysis: Bills Defense Overwhelms the Vikings

Here is a free look at our weekly Bills Film breakdowns

Let’s face it, the defense made things very easy for the Bills offense last Sunday out at U.S Bank Stadium. It seems like the defensive unit has been playing on another level ever since halftime of the Chargers game. Most analysts, including myself, believed that a lot of that success was due to the situation of being blown out and the Chargers letting off of the gas. But after the defense’s performance against a very talented Vikings offense, maybe the turnaround is not a mirage. Maybe, the meetings between the staff and players indeed helped them “get on the same page.” Maybe, this is the type of output we should expect.

They have a big test ahead with Aaron Rogers and the Green Bay Packers coming up, but before we move on, lets see who and why they played so well on the road and if it is a level of play that is sustainable.
