The positive of Mayfield being good

Cleveland had it down to either Mayfield or Allen for the 1st overall pick in the draft.

So if Mayfield is indeed good, this is very encouraging because it shows the Browns GM knows how to evaluate quarterbacks.

But they did give up a third for Tyrod.

He played a very very good half of football . But it's just ridiculous to judge him or any rookie off such a small sample size

So who has declared this anything more than a great debut game ?

how many straw men in that barn out back?

But I still see many good signs with Allen. It's crystal clear Mayfield has way better mastery of the game at this time, but if Josh comes even 90% close to him, with his physical attributes he will be a FORCE

Defenses usually let up when a backup QB comes into the game because they don't have film on him. That said, Mayfield looked like a Drew Brees out there most of the time in one half of a game.

Still, Mayfield has an actual team around him that can run the ball as they are #1 in rushing attempts, #4 in rush yards, #4 in rushing TDs. The O line gave him time to throw AND he has a star WR that catches most everything in Jarvis Landry. Plus, the Browns look to have a pretty good defense.

Right now Allen has none of those things. I think if he is able to develop in this craptastic Buffalo offense it's my belief that Allen with be the better QB of that draft class.

On a side note I'm happy the Browns beat the NY Jets for their first win in three seasons AND they intercepted Darnold 2x :D

...sure hope the entire class is good, even down to Rudolph and/or Lauletta......would make for some good Sunday matchups and rivalries developing hopefully similar to the Class of '83......better add Reilly Ferguson for Mead107.............

This is going to end up being one of the best QB drafts in years......

Want to know why we traded down and took tre and passed on Mahommes.....Watson....etc? because  they knew that they wanted (imho) to pluck their QB from THIS draft.......

There are as many as 4 qbs from this past draft that have a chance to end up being very good starters....for the bills it was a percentage thing....they had a much higher chance of hitting on a qb by kicking the can....getting the 2nd 1st rounder.....and taking a QB (which turned into Allen)

I find it so funny that ppl are slamming McBeane....because he has gutted the roster and once again....they are pushing to next year with the 10 draft picks and 90 million in cap space...AND their QB with a year of experence (and Edmunds with also a year of experience)

Fans need to be patient here...its gonna be a down year but these team has a very bright future

Since when is Cleveland the franchise you want to point to for lessons in successful roster management or drafting? lol

How many fails did they have first? Allen being their other choice could mean they finally bucked the trend of picking poorly by not selecting him. They could go for the guy who produced at an elite level for many years against great competition but was considered "small" by QB standards, or they could pick the guy who LOOKS the part and has that great arm, yet did nothing against inferior competition in college.

If the Browns took Allen, this board would be sitting here laughing their asses off about what fools they are, and how they picked the unknown with POTENTIAL over the guaranteed production. Then again, it's still the Browns & they could just as easily ruin Mayfield. You never know.
