What are the Bills Saying about the Bolts?

On Philip Rivers…
“(I) have a lot of respect for Philip. I’ve gone against him a number of times. (He’s a) future Hall of Fame quarterback and very smart in terms of what he does before the snap, which most quarterbacks are – the good ones. They’ve got a high-powered offense as you saw, and we’ve got a lot of respect for them.” – Head Coach Sean McDermott

On Chargers defense…
“This is a really good defense that we’re facing, so we can’t take them lightly. They’re going to be ready come Sunday, too.” – QB Josh Allen

On Chargers secondary…
“They’re a talented group. They do a good job and I thought they played well last week against Kansas City. We’ll just have to be on our A-game.” – Head Coach Sean McDermott

Here are five keys to the game heading into Sunday’s game between the Chargers and the Bills.

1.  Jolt Josh – The Chargers face a relative unknown at quarterback for the second-straight week after Buffalo named seventh-overall pick Josh Allen their new starter.

2. Marked Improvement on the Money Down – A trademark of the Chargers’ offense in recent seasons has been their ability to move the chains on third down.

3. Shut Down Shady – LeSean McCoy had an off day in the Bills’ debut, running just seven times for 22 yards while catching one pass that went for negative yardage.

4. Beware of Speedy Secondary – Philip Rivers has seen all types of secondaries in his Hall of Fame career, and he noted how fast Buffalo’s defensive backs play the game.

Bills 'table-slamming' violators may be charged

Fans tailgating at Buffalo Bills games this season could face criminal charges or be ejected for "table-slamming," a practice of jumping into and breaking plastic folding tables that has been popularized in recent seasons by viral videos on social media.

The Bills and the Erie County, New York sheriff's office have made it a point of emphasis to police table-slamming this season, although rules against the activity have already existed as part of the team's code of fan conduct at New Era Field.

It’s no secret. The best way to rattle a rookie quarterback, especially one making his first NFL start, is to apply constant pressure, as the Chargers did last Nov. 19 when they harassed Nathan Peterman into a five-interception first half in a 54-24 blowout of Buffalo in StubHub Center.

The Chargers will face another young and relatively untested Bills quarterback in Buffalo’s New Era Field on Sunday when they line up against Josh Allen, the former Wyoming gun-slinger who replaced the struggling Peterman in last Sunday’s 47-3 loss to Baltimore and was named the starter for Week 2.

“As we’ve seen on film, he’s a guy who gets a little nervous under pressure,” Chargers defensive back Desmond King said of Allen, the seventh overall pick in April’s draft. “And once he feels pressure he likes to scramble.”

This can present another problem for the Chargers. The 6-foot-5, 237-pound Allen is quick, elusive and strong, as he showed when he escaped the grasp of Terrell Suggs, the Ravens’ 265-pound Pro-Bowl linebacker, on one run Sunday.

Josh Allen: The most important of five Buffalo Bills to watch

When the Buffalo Bills traded up in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft to select Wyoming’s Josh Allen, we knew it was only a matter of time before the athletically gifted, but very raw prospect began starting games for the team. After Nathan Peterman laid an egg in Week 1, the time for Allen is now.

Head coach Sean McDermott named Allen his starting quarterback for the Bills’ home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. The rookie will be one among many players Bills fans will watch this weekend, but he will tower above the rest in terms of importance.

Here are our five Bills to watch this week.

Week 2 NFL score predictions: A guide to best games, more

Point spread: LAC -7.5 | Matchup quality: 25.9 (of 100)

Eric D. Williams' pick: The Chargers face the Bills for the second consecutive year, with Buffalo's quarterback -- rookie first-round pick Josh Allen -- making his first NFL start. The Bills hope Allen's debut does not go as badly as last season, when Nathan Peterman threw five interceptions in the first half of his debut. The Chargers are the better team and hungry for their first win after a humbling defeat to the Chiefs at home in their season opener last week. The Chargers have defeated the Bills in their past three meetings. Chargers 27, Bills 20

Mike Rodak's pick: Joey Bosa, who pressured or hit Peterman on all five of his interceptions last season, will not play Sunday. Neither will Eric Wood and Richie Incognito, the Bills' two best offensive linemen from last season's game, who both retired. With Allen making his first career start, the Chargers still have the advantage. Chargers 27, Bills 17

FPI win projection: LAC, 70 percent. It didn't take long for the Bills to hand the reins to Allen. FPI sees Allen as a substantial improvement over Peterman. Had Buffalo stuck with Peterman, FPI would have given the Bills a less than 20 percent chance to win.

PFT’s Week Two picks

Chargers at Bills

MDS’s take: You could look at the Bills one of two ways: “This team sucks so Nathan Peterman has to be benched,” or “This team sucks so they’d be crazy to throw Josh Allen to the wolves.” Either way, the Bills lose.

MDS’s pick: Chargers 30, Bills 14.

Florio’s take: Poor Josh Allen.

Florio’s pick: Chargers 27, Bills 10.

CHARGERS AT BILLS

With rookie QB Josh Allen starting behind the league’s worst interior O-line and with one of its worst receiving corps, Buffalo’s D must hold the Chargers to under 20 to have any chance. It’s important they be ready for running back Melvin Gordon outside. Last week 12 of Gordon’s 24 touches, and 76 of his 166 total yards, came on the perimeter, where he can best showcase his swift long strides and much-improved balance.

welp, here we are again. Watching and hoping. Buddy was predicting score. I said i would not watch if there was  no chance of a win.

and who doesn't want to see Josh survive the game relatively unscathed , healthy and maybe even make some plays we can cheer about ?
