Fadingpain
I never knew until just now that the very first 1960 Bills uniform was Honolulu blue, silver, and white. Kind of a Detroit Lions look to it. What do you think? I prefer the red/white/blue look myself. Edited September 5, 2018 by Fadingpain
Ridgewaycynic2013
Take the numbers off the helmets, next thing you know, Thurman loses his. EDIT: It was only earlier this year on this site that I learned a tv crew member apparently moved it. 26CornerBlitz
Ralph was a minority owner of the Lions in the '50s and he based the initial Bills' uniforms on theirs. 3

In the time long ago, back when the world and I were young, this knowledge was common amongst all the peoples of our fair land. Alas, such lore now is held only by the last of the elders. Soon they too shall pass from this place and take with them the stories of our grandfathers for age is a wind which carries memory away. Effing millennials. 2
The Real Buffalo Joe
Any truth to the rumor that they were old Lions jerseys? I believe Ralph was still part owner of both teams until he was forced to sell his Lion's share (no pun intended) at the merger.
Nanker
Ralph was from the Detroit area and was obviously a fan of the Lions. That's why we played them for about 30 years in the preseason. Ralph originally put in for the Miami AFL franchise. Hunt turned him down and made him "settle" on Buffalo. He was pizzed that Danny Thomas and Robbie got the Miami gig the next year (too lazy look up the year), and hence the "Miami - Buffalo Rivalry" was borne. Ralph hated despised Miami. Beating Miami was as important to Ralph than the Service Academies beating their arch-rivals. It saved a few HCs in these parts.

Many of us old timers know this. It’d be a cool Throwback look. Certainly better than NYJ, Pitt, GB & Denver

It was more that he could not get guarantees to use the Orange Bowl.
