Double Standard Kelvin Benjamin/Jalen Ramsey?

Recommended Posts

Kelvin Benjamin took cheap shots at his ex quarterback who always seemed to perform better without him.  Jalen Ramsey has only been on one team and didn't take any cheap shots at any players on his team.  That should be rather obvious.

at least Benjamin was with Cam to make his opinion.

Jalen doesn't now anything about the people he trashed except for Bortles who he lied about.

Jalen is a punk who needs to learn grammar.

They both were wrong.  Benjamin knew about Cam’s skills, but doesn’t make it smart to air out his criticisms to the media.  Ramsey is just a moron.  Why would you ever give 2/3 the league bulletin board material whenever playing Jax.

I would have have loved to be in the room when both Marrone and more importantly Coughlin read the article.  Coughlin’s Head probably came close to exploding.  If we didn’t have the new CBA, he’d make him run gamers for a week.

You are correct, Jalen is a punk. But, I'm pretty sure he's not concerned and doesn't care about his grammar.

He didn't exactly attend FSU on an academic scholarship  working on his Masters in Language Arts.

Some things are better off left unsaid right? Unfortunately, some players don’t understand that dignity and professionalism can go a long way in this world.

I’m embarrassed for Jalen and the media for even covering this nonsense.

Jalen just showed the world how unintelligent he is. Those quotes were not just uncalled for, but incoherent and shows he barely has a grasp of the English language. Sad really, considering how on paper he competed high school and attended a prestigious university university like FSU.

The media, on the other hand, shows how devoid they are of any semblance of interesting thought by breathlessly discussing this as if it were a treatise by Socrates. They are, a flat out joke at this point.

I’m curious as to why Kelvin Benjamin was, for the most part, vilified by the national media for giving  honest answers regarding Cam Newton, and yet the talking heads praise Jalen Ramsey’s trash talk. Stephen A Smith called his rant “compelling.”

It's not a double standard for a couple of reasons...one, Benjamin was rightly trashed for his comments about Cam, it was not ignored. 2nd, what they said was not comparable, Ramsey attacked a number of high profile QBs in the NFL, for no apparent reason other than to troll for attention (which he's getting). Those teams fans represent millions and millions of people. KB's comments were stupid, but it was a personal situation with his old team, there was history behind it.

I am among those who think Jalen Ramsey is a punk, and I would love to see him get put in his place, but I also agree that you're trying to compare apples to oranges.  It is almost always in bad taste to burn your bridges after you crossed them.  I would never publicly say bad things about a former workplace just because I had an unpleasant experience there.  It would be another issue entirely if there were unfair labor practices, if for example Carolina had violated the CBA.  To me it just shows class if you can be graceful in dealing with your past employer and work associates, unless there are ongoing abuses that need to be addressed for the protection of future employees.

Jalen Ramsay markets himself as a cocky villain, is a known trash-talker, who didn't throw his QB under the bus.

Kelvin Bejamin isn't a known trash-talker who threw shade at a longtime, former teammate from his new team, blaming him for his past shortcomings as a player, by highlighting a deficiency in him, possibly out of his control to fix.

It was just tasteless on many levels.

Ramsay is the arguably the league's best CB, he's better at what he does than many QB's are at what they do.

His opinion has value because of his rank, his perspective on each QB was unfiltered and non-conforming, which made the article compelling.

I for one, expected to stop at his take on Josh Allen, but I couldn't stop there, I had to go down the list to see what he had to say about the other QB's.

I'd just like to point out that Ramsey knew exactly what he was saying and doing...I don't claim him to be smart, but this was obviously trolling for responses...which everyone is gladly giving to him. He's getting exactly what he wanted out of it, and most people are feeding him.

Ramsey:   Good player talking about guys on other teams

Benjamin:   Meh player talking about a former teammate

Yup.  Neither should have said anything.  But Benjamin looks like a jilted ex.  Ramsey is just saying what he thinks, right or wrong.

A couple of differences that come to mind:

1. Jalen is an all pro at his position I believe. Regarded as the best corner in the game today. KB is far from the best WR in the game today. Might not be fair but the better you are at your job the greater margin of error you have in any outlandish comments you may have.

2. KB criticized a player who was league MVP and lead his team to the super bowl all while KB was injured. Jalen is criticizing a player that is at this point in their career a complete unkown and does for better or worst have a lot of question marks regarding ability to perform at the NFL stage.
