Good for Momma, and good on Tre. I truly hope and suspect he won't squander that money, because his career could end tomorrow.

You go boy!

Full disclosure: I make well above average, but still live paycheck to paycheck. Managing money is difficult for a lot of us

Brother, you said it there.  Crazy how expensive life is.

She probably never worked to begin with...

Thinking about it further, this post really has no place here or anywhere.  If I were a mod I'd ban the poster for life, along with the poster who "laughed" at it.

Just disgusting, really.  And yes, I'm on my high horse over this one.

I'll just say it's rare to see such a blatantly bigoted comment around here.  I don't visit PPP so maybe it happens all the time, but I don't want to see this crap on a Bills board.

I suggest ignoring it.  Or mocking it, which is obviously my usual preference...but in this case, the comment is both so straightforward and so stupid that ignoring it is the better course.

People are going to hold ****ty opinions (although in this case, I think it was a really bad attempt at satire.)  You can't stop them, you can only choose how much time you want to dedicate to being upset about them.  Personally, after almost 50 years on this earth, I've come to realize that "none" is probably one of the better answers to that last.

The family moved frequently, and there were times they didn't have money for the water bill. Because LaShawnita worked overnights at the Horseshoe Casino in neighboring Bossier City, the kids would often spend nights at Ruffins' home.

...

LaShawnita and David White divorced more than a decade ago, but they have an amicable relationship.

“It didn't work out,” LaShawnita said. “He went his way, I went my way, but at the same time it was about the kids. So we as adults, we knew how to adapt that situation and move on. We’re a family. We had three kids together, so we communicate over the phone about everything.”

The day after he was drafted, White was asked what his first big purchase would be after becoming an instant millionaire. A new house for his mom was the first thing he mentioned.

"I feel like my duty is to get her in a comfortable situation where she can call something hers," he said then.

That dream is almost real. LaShawnita said it will be "probably a couple more months" before she moves into her new home in a different part of Shreveport.

"The sacrifices that she made for my brothers and my sisters and I is something that I'll never be able to pay her back for," White said. "That's another thing that pushes me to be excellent. We didn't have a lot, but the stuff we did have, we cherished. All the things that we went through, it made me the person I am today. I wake up every day, and that's what makes me want to watch more film, want to get in early for extra work. I want to be the best person and best player I can be. I come from hard times, and I don't want to go back."

So no, his dad is not a deadbeat and his mom did in fact work.

I ignore stupidity all the time.  I felt this went beyond that.  But I've said my piece and I'm done.

Former Bills player buys his mom a house and he's the greatest person that ever lived. Current Bills player buys his mom a mouse and "She probably never worked to begin with..."

Like they say, buy your mom a mouse and you feed her for a day.  Teach your mom to mouse and she never works a day again in her life.

I don't remember it completely but its something like that.

There's a lot of houses that look like that in the western ny area. Theres 3 that look almost identical to Mrs. Whites house on my parents street.

I have always liked that look, when I was living near Tampa we looked at a few of the model homes and they looked similar. One level, high ceilings, screened in pool. Give me some of that.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day.  Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat drinking beer for a day.

Interesting assumption on your part.  Did you bet something?  You lose.

from article:

Because LaShawnita worked overnights at the Horseshoe Casino in neighboring Bossier City, the kids would often spend nights at their grandfather's home.

“We had to move out of that house because it was broken into several times,” White told The News' Jay Skurski as they slowed down to get a good look at the property at 1749 Adler Road in June. “We had just got a PlayStation 2. We thought that was the best thing ever. My mom, she worked her butt off to get us that, and probably a month after Christmas, our house got broken into, and it was gone.”

LaShawnita no longer works the graveyard shift at the casino. LaShawnita’s time now is spent helping her sister run a seafood restaurant.

While I agree the OP doesn't deserve a warm bucket of spit for attention - I totally agree with @eball and would think the Mods would want to at the VERY least intervene and say something......boy needs his azz slapped!  Just a crummy crappy thing to say......says a lot about his character.

Moving on.....
