Have you ever been arrested and what for?

Recommended Posts

I have been arrested once when I was 18.  Underage drinking which I'm sure I'm not the only one here who had that on their record.

It really sucked because it was at a girls house I was seeing at the time.  Her parents were out of town so a few of us went over there.

The neighbors were "spying" on us and called the cops.  It was just 4 of us so it wasn't like we were loud.  They just wanted to get us.

was this last week?

will the charges stick???

a few times came close but I go into a very docile state when I'm questioned, they get zero grounds to push me into showing attitude and escalating things....

I got arrested when I was 18 at high school party in the woods behind the school.

The police came and just told everyone to leave - but all cars had to stay.

We were with a friend of our who was not drinking.  We went up to one of the police cars and politely asked if our friend could drive his car out, as he'd not been drinking.  The police officer was like, "No.  Leave the car and get out of here."

As we were walking away, "I muttered, "!@#$," to my friend.  I can't believe the police officer even heard it.

He gets out of his car, says, "you wanna be a wise guy?" The cuffed me to my buddy and arrested us both.

We both got charged with criminal trespass and had to do community service for two weekends.

I thought I was going to be.  Once a bunch of us underagers were in a bar, there to hear a friend's band play, we all of course were drinking.  I look to the far entrance of the room, a policeman had just walked in - you could see it was from his billed hat and dark uniform.  My two friends suddenly notice I've now vanished.

R:  "Where the hell did he go?"

W:  "I don't know...hey, what the f*** are you doing under the table?!?!"

Me:  "It's the cops!  Look down there!"

W:  "That's not the cops, you moron!  It's the Salvation Army guy, collecting donations and handing out copies of 'the War Cry'."

So Dillinger I'm not...

I thought underage drinking just got you an appearance ticket and eventually a fine and/or community service.  I've had a few of those.  You got full-on arrested?!  Where were you?

I was in Paulding County in Georgia.  The cops came in the house and asked for ID's.  Once we were all identified as being underage, they put the cuffs on us and drove us to the station.  Got finger printed and mug shot.  I was pissed that the cop put the cuffs on so tight....I cooperated the whole time.

This was in 2000 and my bail was $680.00.

Jeebus Christmas that's a tad excessive!!

When I got my first underage drinking ticket I was 17 years old and at a house party.  I was standing out front with a couple buddies watching the spectacle (basically the cops were just telling kids to go home), and I got the really smart idea to flick a beer cap at a police officer.  Never thought in a zillion years
I would hit him...must have been 10-15 feet away.  SMACK...right in the forehead!!  I got tackled, cuffed, and brought to the drunk tank for the night.  Fortunately, I was polite and very apologetic, so the police officer took mercy on me.  I only got the ticket for underage drinking.  I think it was like $65 or something.

My uncle happened to be a Lieutenant for the city police.  I think that's the reason I spent the night in jail AND got off with just a ticket.

I also got arrested whilst in the Navy in Norfolk, VA.

I was underage (19).  I used to use my brother's ID (he's 6 years older) and it always worked.  Went out with one of my buddies and I got denied entry.  My buddy was like, "I'm not driving all the way back to the ship.  I'll grab you a six pack.  Just hang out in my car for like a hour and I'll be back."

So I was just chilling out and decided to go to McDonald's across the street.

Had to climb through a split rail fence - no big deal.  But when I stood up straight, there was a police officer standing in front of me.

He said, "what are you doing?"  I told him I was just going to McDonald's.  He then asked if I was in the Navy.  I found that odd.  Feeling like it would NOT work to my benefit, I said, "no, sir, I am not."  He then sticks his hand in my pocket and takes my wallet.  Opens it.  Sees my military ID (not my brother's DL, thank God), and says, "well, since you lied, now you're coming with me."

He puts me in the back of a paddy wagon.  Charged with public intoxication, even though I a) wasn't drunk and b) never walked far enough to even appear drunk.  I spent the night in jail.  No paperwork.  No prints.  No mug shot.  Just the night spent in jail.  Early the next morning, they let me out.

Apparently, they called my ship to let them know.  Even though I wasn't formally charged, I got yelled at by our Executive Officer because we were days away from heading to South America as part of a 5-month cruise.  He screamed, "if you pull this **** down there, they'll lock you up and we won't be able to get you out!!"

Not the best experience, but I didn't get into trouble in South America!

Sounds like you got lucky. I've heard of much worse punishments in the military for even smaller offenses.

Miraculously no, not that I am a criminal or anything but luckily South Buffalo cops in the 70s were not too hard on kids partying. I usually had the good sense to leave before they showed up, that and being a fast runner. It didn't hurt if they knew and liked your family either.

I did get hauled into the South Park station when I was 15 with a buddy who 'borrowed' his mom's car. Dad had to come get me, no charges filed even though their was unopened beer involved. The cops were happy to keep the beer.                  Travelling with the Grateful Dead years ago there were a few encounters that could have gone South but luckily they always let us go. One time in '85 we were leaving Red Rocks heading to the Grand Canyon in an old van with stickers all over it and stopped at a gas station somewhere on i70. We had a keg of beer, six stoned deadheads and the sliding door wide open when the state troopers pulled up right next to the open door staring at me. My buddy Murph from Mass. reaches in front me and closes the slider right in their face. Knowing what some of the riders have in their pockets I figure this trip is over, the trooper walks around to the drivers window and says "let me guess, you're coming from the Dead shows". "Yes sir" we said. "How were they? I bet they were great" he said. We proceeded to talk about the Dead and living in the Grand Canyon until the rest of the motley crew came out of the store and then he let us go telling us to drive safe and sober. A few other close encounters in Ohio, Chicago, L.A., Oakland, Atl, and Oregon, they let me go everytime. Now that I think of it I have been pretty blessed that way. My days of almost getting in trouble are far behind me now. ?

Every arrest story mentioned involves alcohol.  No true crimes were perpetrated.  One cannot commit a crime against them self. I thought prohibition ended.  I doubt any story mentioned would have someone arrested in Europe

I thumped a cop in the forehead with a beer cap.  Would that get you clubbed like a seal in foggy London?

I was drinking a beer on Main st. Park City around '87 talking to a friend, the cops went by and turned around. I got up and put the beer in the garbage as they were pulling up. I continued walking up the street pretending I can't hear the cops telling me to stop. When I heard the car door open I took off like a flash. I ran up some stairs to the next street up the hill and as I turned the corner to run down that street I heard a gun go off. I quickly hid in some bushes and had to stay in there over an hour til dark as the cops kept circling around for me. I changed my look as best I could and made my escape down Main st, as I'm walking down the street I see a cop car coming up it. I quickly thought 'change your walk' for some reason, so I did and walked right past them. The next day my friend says I thought they shot you. Warning shots fired for an escaped beer drinker. I never ran from a cop again.
