All three QBs have their moments on day 2 of minicamp
By Ryan Talbot | Contributing writer
The second day of Buffalo Bills minicamp is in the books. Wednesday's practice saw all three quarterbacks have their moments, some shifting on the offensive line and a few big plays by wide receivers. Here are 7 things we learned.

AJ McCarron hits strength coach (and connects on a few TD passes)
Rod Streater pulls in a prayer
Nathan Peterman connects with Proehl
Josh Allen finds Kerley in red zone
Bodine works with first team offense
Marshall Newhouse gets work with first team
Tyler Davis shows off his leg

ORCHARD PARK, NY (WKBW) - Two days down, and one to go for the Buffalo Bills before they break for the next six weeks. Mandatory minicamp has only one more day left, but during the second day, we got to see more of how the rotations have worked throughout the spring workout, and perhaps how it's going to set up for training camp in late July.

Who stood out during Wednesday's practice? Seven observations from the second day of Bills minicamp:

1) Josh Allen has his best day yet
2) Peterman outplays McCarron once again
3) Taron Johnson shows well at nickel
4) Proehl flashes ability
5) The Groy, Bodine competition continues
6) An undrafted cornerback moves up
7) A two-man kick return battle?

McCarron or Peterman needed Allen to shrink under the pressure of playing with the first team.  From everything being reported that has not happened.  A tie goes to Allen.  So far McCarron or Peterman have not run away with it.  Some mock my prediction of Allen being named before game 2 of the preseason. So far nothing has shown me that wont happen.

Would be great to see Allen get most of the 1st team reps tomorrow to end the Spring.

Allen gets red zone work with starters; Proehl, Streater make highlight reel grabs

As the Bills continue to rotate quarterbacks with the starting offense, Wednesday was A.J. McCarron’s turn to take the reins.  Up to this point throughout OTAs and minicamp, it’s been McCarron and Nathan Peterman going back-and-forth each day getting their crack with the starters, the other running the second team, and rookie Josh Allen working with the third unit.  Allen did get six snaps with the starters Tuesday.

Wednesday there was another new wrinkle.  Allen got the first shot with the starters when they opened their offense vs. defense portion of practice, as it started with a red zone session.

Just now, Kelly the Dog said:

They won't. It would set off an unnecessary six week jerkoff in the media and on here, in every meaning of the word.

 Maybe not, but hopefully sprinkling him in with the 1st team this week is a good sign of him catching up to the other two with regard to knowledge of the offense.  Can't wait until July 26th.

  • 26CornerBlitz changed the title to Bills' Mandatory Minicamp (June 12-14) - McDermott Presser at 11:30 AM Before Day 3 Practice at Noon

I like the sound of this

Quote

Allen’s first pass was intended to be a screen to his right, but the ball was knocked to the ground by an oncoming defender.  On the next play, he didn’t see anything he liked and ran around the right end for about a five yard gain.  Then on the third play, Allen saw wide receiver Jeremy Kerley start to break to the corner of the end zone and immediately threw the ball to where he would eventually be.  Kerley was covered fairly well, but as the defender on him turned, the ball was already in flight and was zipped in too fast for him to react.  It was a tight window, but Allen found Kerley for a touchdown.
