Really?   That era would have been long ago, Halas, Lombardi, Allen,  Saban, Shula, Noll, Ditka being one of the last of that era.  He would have not have lasted long with any if these guys and many more.

Nope, not the dinosaur era, for sure, but also not the "player's coach" style predominant today.   While there are still a few "old school" types around (Belichick, Marrone, McCarthy, maybe Tomlin), there are a lot more Doug Pederson types who let the players be more individualistic.    Is TO any more of a locker room diva than Beckham, Bryant or Marshall...

Great player, belongs in the Hall, sad there are no hi-lites of winnning anything for future fans to appreciate.

Kelly, Smith, Thomas, Reed, and Levy all agree. If only it were the Hall of League Champions.

If only he would have knelt for the National Anthem a few times he would have been a first ballot inductee.

Will Anthem Kneelers be black-balled, or will that move them up in rank to join the HOF in the future?

Asking for a friend.

Strike two! Wrong forum.

This is sad.  That place is a joke.  The fact that they would resort to this highlights that they don't understand what a Hall of Fame is for (hint: it's not for a nationally televised TV ceremony once a year).

If they wanted to avoid such embarrassment in the future, they would be much more wise get an "advance commitment" that voters will honor their privilege and simply vote on the names before them for a player who they think, based on his play alone, belongs in the Hall of Fame.

"Making them wait" is fine if you think they don't belong this year because better candidates are on the ballot.  "Making them wait" because you don't like them, despite their obviously worthy credentials at the time they are first nominated,  is far more childish than any of TOs antics.

I think he should have attended regardless but i do agree with him on the reporters being the voters.  I think this is wrong.  The people that vote should be former coaches, front office people who didn't have these players on their team.
