Must be a lot of ppl on Medicaid in Niagara County then...  My taxes are stupid high.

Wow, all I could find are numbers circa 2013, 90k ppl on Medicaid in Niagara county with a population of 212k.  42% of people in Niagara county are on medicaid?  WTF.

No wonder why the population is receding and taxes are going up...

The problem is that there is no significant commercial tax base in your county to kick in for the county service obligations.  And it's about to get worse--no more casino cash.

Property taxes in Manhattan?NYC are far lower, despite a massive entitlement obligation, because of its huge tax base.

Can this Trump administration do wrong?

MAGA indeed!

The Trump administration argued in favor of the ban, much as the Obama administration had.

Or instead of just dealing with things the way they are.... We can try to constantly improve to best serve the whole citizenship.

But, you know... Carry on trolling with your "if you don't like it just move" attitude. If everyone was like that nothing will have ever been changed for the better.

I was born here and have family here. Trust me if I was picking a state to live in with no ties, NY would be 49th on my list.

West Virginia? New Jersey?

And if the Cadillac NYS Medicaid plan were dialed back to something close to the national average , I'd imagine those numbers would be roughly halved? Just a guess on my part, but the NY plan needs to change in a big way.

Always remember...all Lottery revenue in NYS goes to the schools. I read that somewhere.

Thats true actually. The issue is that it is supposed to in addition to the budget. But instead, they move EDU money elsewhere and replace it with lottery money.

Originally the bill should have been passed with a minimum amount towards schools + 2% for inflation year over year. Ensuring lottery money is an increase in funding.

When this story broke, I knew everyone's favorite radio talk show host, Mike Schopp, would be all over this.

He's now dedicated at least 2 shows to the topic of legal sports betting.

Dude is a major gambling addict.

Roger Goodell Issues Statement on Sports Betting

As it was for my predecessors, there is no greater priority for me as the Commissioner of the National Football League than protecting the integrity of our sport. Our fans, our players and our coaches deserve to know that we are doing everything possible to ensure no improper influences affect how the game is played on the field. This week's ruling by the Supreme Court has no effect on that unwavering commitment.

We have spent considerable time planning for the potential of broadly legalized sports gambling and are prepared to address these changes in a thoughtful and comprehensive way, including substantial education and compliance trainings for our clubs, players, employees and partners. These efforts include supporting commonsense legislation that protects our players, coaches and fans and maintains public confidence in our games. We are asking Congress to enact uniform standards for states that choose to legalize sports betting that include, at a minimum, four core principles:

1. There must be substantial consumer protections;

2. Sports leagues can protect our content and intellectual property from those who attempt to steal or misuse it;

3. Fans will have access to official, reliable league data; and

4. Law enforcement will have the resources, monitoring and enforcement tools necessary to protect our fans and penalize bad actors here at home and abroad.

The counties are mandated to provide the funds for those services, including Medicaid, for their own county.  In other states, the taxes to support Medicaid are pooled statewide.

If a county has a low tax base and a high Medicaid usage, property taxes will be high to close the gap.  Your taxes in whatever county you live in don't pay for NYC Medicaid costs.

...NY ranks 3rd in the country for welfare spending at $61.4 BILLION which includes Medicaid........so no stadium help from Guido Cuomo......BTW, Pegula despises him because of his stance on hydrofracking which TP thinks would be a boon for the State economy......
