Why Do You Think Bills Are Waiting to Make a Deal

If the Bills are moving up, why wait until tonight?  Couldn't make a deal?  Never intended to move up?  Not saying wrong or right - just difficult to figure out the strategy.

They'd look really smart if they moved up to #2 and the guy they traded up for got picked #1 now wouldn't they?  It's not rocket science.

Why didn't the Jets follow your logic?

Obviously they feel strongly enough about at least 3 players that they don't really care which one falls to them.

Can't argue with that

Everything will depend on who the Browns pick at 1. If they pick Mayfield then the Bills dont have to move up as high to get a QB. They can get Rosen or Darnold in a trade with the Browns at 4. If Cleveland picks Darnold or Rosen at 1 then the Bills might have to move up to #2.

One of two things.

1. The Giants want to see who goes #1 overall.

2. The Bills want to see who goes #1 overall.

Because Beane was asleep at he wheel.

It is obvious you are not a Beane fan but what has he done that hasnt been a good move? So the Colts decided to trade with the Jets to move back to #6 instead of the Bills at 12. How do you know the Bills havent had a deal in place the whole time with the Giants if the board falls the right way? Or the Browns at 4?

It's going to be Baker.

More likely, the Giants have their price and no one has met it yet.  The clock also isn't ticking yet.  Does DG take the best offer on the table or does Beane blink and give up more?

So true. Maybe none of the top pick teams want to go down to #12. It's possible we have to give up next year's # 1 as well to get to four and Allen is the one left. I can hear the screaming now.

Probably, but we just "found out" today.

The Giants probably wanted to see who the #1 pick would be before trading down. I also doubt they want to move all the way down to #12. They need an impact player and might not get one there.

My guess is that if the Giants move down Cleveland has to play ball with the #4 pick. The Giants need to wind up with Barkley to appease their fans and upgrade their offense and that's the farthest they can drop to ensure they get him.

They'll get one at 12.  They can worst case get one of Ward / Nelson / Fitzpatrick / James / Smith / Edmonds at 12.  But if 4 / 5 / 6 are all shopping to move out, they can very likely go back up.

IMO the Giants are currently asking too much, very few teams can match it, with multiple QBs on the board teams are willing to let the Giants sit and make a pick and see what 4 / 5 / 6 wants, unless Giants lower their asking price to take the best available offer.

Who knows.  Beane and DG could have had a deal in place contingent upon who is at 2 for months now.

Yeah I agree with you on the bold part.

The issue is they might be set on one of Barkley/Nelson/Chubb and more than likely none will be available at #12.

I think the bills need to get to #4, #5 or #6 if they want the Giants pick.

And if the Bill's want a QB they can get one at 12 also, possibly the leftover of the top 4, Jackson, Rudolph or others. But the difference is if the Giants want to almost guarantee themselves a game changer like Barkley or Chubb, or a lower tier guy.

The Guants can stay put and get what most are calling the best player in the draft (or grab Elis replacement) if they dont get what they want in return. It's not like they walk away with nothing if they dont trade back
