What are your bold predictions for the NFL draft?

Recommended Posts

Ok, well maybe they are not so bold, but....

Mel Kiper will take a break during the 1st round to eat his pumpkin pie, and put more hair spray on his hair

Baker Mayfield will be slouched on his couch with a phone in his hand and smiling, laughing or crying, when his name is picked within the first six selections. He will then say and do all the right things, and keep his hand as far away from his belt as possible.

Beane will say he was thrilled that their top guy was still available when they picked, saying "He was our guy we had rated higher and that we hoped would still there at #12, and so we are very excited that he is now a part of the Buffalo Bills."

Josh Rosen will say something on draft day that will make the hair stand up on the back of the heads of at least a few of the posters here, with those cynics saying "I am glad we did not draft him. Rosen is a bum."

Some here will either be outraged at who we picked, or extremely giddy and partying or drinking their champagne or cool aid. Some others will rush to ebay to collect that first drafted players' merchandise. The rest will either be in shock and depressed and stuck to their chairs, or finding something positive about or supporting whoever the Bills picked.

The commisioner will be booed as he comes to the podium, and he will mispronounce at least one of the names of one of the players drafted in the 1st round, which will result in even louder boos. Goodell will pretend the crowd is cheering for him, or tell the

media after, "These great fans here have enthusiasm for the game, and this is what our nfl league is all about."

The New England Patriots will either draft Rudolph, Lauletta or White, between round one and three, and his rookie football card will immediately jump from $2.99 to $4,999..00

Bills go 6-10 next year, defense sucks with no linebackers.

We're pry going to have to take a step back before we take a step forward in 2019.  OT, WR, and LB are going to struggle assuming we move up as we haven't addressed these positions in FA at all.  We may get lucky and pick up a day one quality starter in the 2nd or 3rd round at one of those positions, but it won't be enough.  Lots of cap space next year.

Not as much as you think, all the signing have put us in the $60-65 right now another $10 will come off with picks higher salaries 2nd year after signing bonuses. so expect around $55 mil. That is allot but top players are going to take $15/mil a yr off with signing and salary. We will need after your draft a DT for Kyle, 2 OG after Groy gone and Incognito, RT, 2-3 LB's with no real MLB on team and Alexander gone. Replacement DE for Hughes (getting old), replacement TE for Clay (getting old), replacement RB for McCoy (getting old). Replacement or signing of Vonte Davis. Allot will be needed!

He was a focal point of defenses for sure. However, penn state had a good passing game. Defenses could not totally sell out to stop the run unless they were elite in the secondary.

Did Cowherd mention that Lamar Jackson had more rushing yards and rushing TDs than Saquon over the past two seasons?

It’s certainly not the Penn State of old.

And...no...I didn’t hear that! Are you serious? This creates some “position confusion” in my mind. The QB who people want to play WR and runs for more than the great RB who is prized for his recieving? Huh?

Four QB's are selected in the top six picks and seven QB's will be taken in the first round with the seventh being Kyle Lauletta by the Patriots.

Darnold

Allen

Rosen

Mayfield

Rudolph

Jackson

Lauletta

Four will become NFL starters and only one will go on to have a long, great career.

Is that with us cutting McCoy, Hughes, and Clay (we could try and trade them to possibly pick up some draft picks)?  We'll also need to decide what to do with Benjamin.  If our rookie QB lives up to the hype we could easily cut AJ and save 5 million.  So that's about 23 million extra we could save to start to address those positions.

There will be dead cap money on all those players and your still going to have to replace them. AJ had 6 mil guaranteed so your still going to have dead cap money. Benjamin is our number 1 receiver so depending on draft he needs to be replaced. Free Agency going rate is average of 10-15 mil/yr to get one or sign him if he has a great year.

Only about 10 million of dead cap combined with Shady, Clay, and Hughes so we'd save about 18 million.  AJ is due 7 million in 2019 and we'd take a 2 million dollar dead cap hit so that's saving 5 million.  It's a year away though so things can change drastically with how we look at those contracts.

We know money won't be the issue anyway because 50 or 70mil buys allot. Every player cut needs a player brought in. I would not cut McCoy unless you have a player you know is good replacing him. He has 2-3 good years left if healthy and he is.

AJ hasn't even taken a snap in a Bills uniform and TSW has already started running him out of town

I thought I was being bold with the QBs, haha.

Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, and Mason Rudolph will be the only QBs from this draft to have long careers as starters. The rest will either bust or wind up as backup journeymen at best.

Saquon Barkley will NOT be the most prolific, successful RB from this draft.

Derwin James and Harold Landry will both be drafted before Minkah Fitzpatrick.

What's the history of RB's once they hit 30?  We'll see how he does this year as 9 million against the cap is a lot for a RB, but he's obviously worth it if he defies the typical trend Fred Jackson and Fred Gore style.

I don't place much faith in a former 5th round pick, but you never know.  I'm just saying if the rookie QB we draft exceeds expectations then we don't need to pay AJ 7 million to back him up in 2019.

So bold predictions for draft night itself:

1. There are three trades in the top 10.

2. Miami Dolphins select a Quarterback in the 1st round.

3. Only 3 wide receivers in the first 2 rounds.

Bold predictions for this class:

1. Mason Rudolph will have a better NFL career than Josh Allen.

2. Connor Williams will be an all-pro left tackle.

3. Saquon Barkley will be traded before the end of his rookie contract.
