Rams trying to trade for OBJ per NYDN

Recommended Posts

WRs are so overrated. This dude is super annoying and if you can sell high on him before you pay him a ton of money, it could be a great deal for the Giants.

Also, Goff doesn’t have a strong arm.  I can already picture OBJ melting down on the sideline and knocking up some porn “star.”

Its easy to work someone in if you think it’s important. A $20m signing bonus is only $4m in this years cap. You just have to choose wisely.

I don’t care about the personality a ton— but worry he’s the type that won’t live up to the deal he’s about to get. I also doubt we are trading picks for and giving monster deals to both Benjamin and him. I think our dynamic guy is coming from the draft.

I think there's a decent chance KB isn't on our roster this time next year.

Someone looking like a clown is ideal for LA.

I’m tired of answering questions about Odell’s behavior,” Mara said. “He knows what is expected of him and now it’s up to him.”

Beckham turned up in a video with a woman and a pizza and an unusually dark cigarette and a pile of a white powder,

The Giants have said in the past they wanted Beckham to stay in New York his entire career, and it’s unclear if the latest episode is enough to change that. New General Manager Dave Gettleman said at the Scouting Combine Beckham had a “clean slate” with him, but it seems Gettleman’s boss has a longer memory.

This is why it's important to draft your QB, preferably in round 1, bc you get 5 years of quality QB play on a bargain contract. Rams can afford to load up and make a run now.  I'm pretty sure with all the cap space cleared out for next year, Beane is hoping to follow a similar blue print.  Then, when the time comes to re-up, you hope he's the kind of QB who can elevate the play of his WRs so you no longer have to pay up for that position.

No way Beane is staying at 12 and hoping to land his guy.  This isn't just about finding a starting QB, this pick is basically Beane's career on the line.  You hit on a franchise QB, instant job security... You miss on a QB, or hitch your wagon to the wrong guy, and your career as an NFL GM is likely over just as quick as it began.

I thought Landry and Gordon would kill TT for a 140 yard passing day, you add OBJ to that group and TT is a dead man. You will have 3 diva WR's who want targets and a QB who doesn't pull the trigger until the play is broken down or you are wide open. I will have my popcorn ready for this one.

That cant be true. The just had Sammy “Jerry Rice” Watkins. Why on earth would the want him?

SARCASM INTENDED

Had is the key word. In case you missed it, Watkins hit it big in free agency. The Rams need to replace Watkins, as they no longer  have the WR that will open up their underneath passing game for Kupp and Woods. OBJ is on a 5th year option for about 8 million. That's close to half what they'd be paying Watkins if they were able to keep him. Seems like a good fit that could fall into their lap if it happens.

So Les Snead is betting everything on 2018 and 2019. After that they won't be able to pay anyone. Good luck with that, I guess.

He won't care after that..he has a new stadium that he needs to sell out....LA Loves a winner.

Man you said it. Wouldn’t envy Tyrod/Darnold/whoever with that WR unit. Crazy that Gordon’s probably the most well balanced of the bunch ((currently)).

Oddly, Bills commonly mentioned as a potential trade partner.  However, I think there is no chance Beane and McD want that attitude in the locker room.

But...we could make an interesting offer of #22, say our 4th next year, and Kelvin Benjamin (Who Gettleman drafted).  But...the team I would watch out for is also SF who could potentially offer the 9th pick and pair him with Jimmy G for years to come.

To recap the great WR class of 2014:

Watkins:  Traded; not resigned; now on 3rd team

Landry:  Not resigned; headcase; now in Cle

Cooks:  Traded.  Demanded one.  Fantastic decoy now in New England

Robinson:  Hurt.  Not resigned.  Now in Chi

Benjamin:  Traded.

Jordan Matthews:  Traded.  Will soon be on 3rd team

Martavis Bryant:  likes weed

John Brown:  Injury plagued

Lee:  Resigned.  He's meh.

Moncrief:  Near bust status

OBJ: Now on trading block.  Also, headcase.

Davante Adams:  New no.1 in GB.  We'll see.

Evans---the best of all of them imo.  Staying with Bucs locked up with extension.

I didnt miss anything. Watkins pay has nothing to fo with actual production. Its still based on potential; thats rich and synonymous with bust and unemployed gms. OBJ will continue to clearly outperform the disappointing underachieving Watkins. The Rams knew exactly what Watkins was and are now going after someone else..

Funny, you forgot to list their salaries for next year.

If Sammy Watkins wasn't a process guy, you think OBJ is?

not a chance.

The process only matters if you draft/ acquire them.  Remember when Sammy tried to fight his brother naked and jump out of a 30 story building? Sammy didn’t have the right character.

The Giants supposedly like Darnold a lot. He is the guy that most people think will be gone. They are fed up with OBJ and not going to pay him what he wants. The Browns can offer them the chance to get the QB that they want and pick up OBJ at the same time. The Browns can afford the crazy price for Beckham and Landry because their entire roster is on rookie deals. It makes a lot of sense IMO.

Tyrod throwing to Beckham and Landry? hmmmm.. what could go wrong with that picture.
