QB's 2004 vs 2018

Recommended Posts

Here is a draft preview from the Bills Daily

http://www.billsdaily.com/draft/2004/preview.shtml

They appeared to discuss that Eli and Ben would be gone in the top 5 and if the Bills wanted to get Rivers, they would need to come up to 10 to pick him ahead of the Steelers.  The three Williams WRs went in the top 10 of the draft and still we could not get one of the top-3 QB.

The sad part is that the Steelers were able to sit at their position and get their Franchise QB for the next 15 years!!!!!   And this year the Giants get to pick their Franchise QB for the next 15 years after getting Eli Manning for the last 15 without sweating..... (The same way the Colts were able to tank for Andrew Luck when Manning was pushed out of town)......Talk about how the Rich get Richer!!!

If we don't get one of the top QB's in this draft it will be very similar. 3 hall of famers and we took JP Losman. Are we going to let other teams take Darnold, Rosen, Allen, Mayfield and we wait and get some random crappy player again?

As if the Bills have full control over the draft . " Let other teams.." draft players. Do they need to ask the Bills permission or something?  The most similar thing about the two drafts is the position of the Bills first pick. It was 13 in 2004 and it's 12 this year. Probably not high enough to get one of those coveted prospects unless a team is willing to give up their spot. If you were a Giants fan, would you want them to trade out of the #2 draft spot and watch the Bills take a QB? As fans we look to assign blame, but whose failure is the draft order? I'm curious how many teams with top five draft picks have traded down out of the top ten, and how far. We may be expecting Beane to do something that almost never happens.

The question is. Which 3 of Darnold,  Rosen, Allen, Mayfield or possibly Jackson are the Ben, Eli, Rivers of the draft,  and which 2 are the JP Losman.

Because i highly doubt all 5 of these guys all turn out to be franchise QBS.

right on spot! people knew Eli had the right pedigree and all, however no one was able to predict he would be the only QB to stack up 2-0 versus an already famous (or infamous?) Brady that back then had already gone to 2 Superbowls, tough....

Giants aren't picking a QB!!!  By the time we pick at # 12, only two QBs will be off the board.  We'll be just fine.  I trust the process.  Plus, teams like the Giants and Broncos have bigger needs than QB.

Thats just wrong, sorry.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Giants/Gettleman have a hand shake agreement with Beane to make a deal on draft day. If the Browns take the Bills targeted QB they may go BPA in the first round and target the Rudolphs and Whites of the world in the 2nd round. I’d personally be happy with any of the top 4 guys and supremely disappointed in Lamar Jackson. I’m just tired of the trendy flashy mobile quarterbacks that have short-term success in the league, whether they get injured or the league catches up to them or both.
