He looked like it was his first time throwing a football vs the Bills

25 mil guaranteed is like 12.5ish per year. Not a whole lot really. He was quite good towards the end of their season and also against the steelers and Patriots. I coukd see him being pretty decent next year. My guess is the jags don't wanna start from scratch with a rookie qb.

He has a QB rating of 91 in the postseason.

Yea, not a bad deal in all honesty.  They made the AFC championship with him for pete sake.

He deserves it for his strong play in the playoffs.

Almost pulled off the Pats upset in afcg.

Can't say I blame them for not wanting to pay Cousin$ an obscene amount of money.

I think if the Jaguars have Cousins last year they probably win the Super Bowl.

They might need to go the way of having a great team around a qb on their rookie deal going forward. Instead of paying the qb spreading money around the roster

Let’s not fight.  But that would seem ridiculous to draft a QB anywhere in the first 3-4 rounds now,

Who knows?  They only have Henne behind Bortles.

That is quite possible.  Cousins is an upgrade over Bortles, but still not worth $25-30M/year in my opinion.

Cost is always a factor with a hard salary cap.  The Jags have lots of young talent that they will have to pay once rookie deals begin to expire.

I can’t speak for the Bills’ FO, but I’d be willing to trade a bad cap situation/having to cut some talent down the road for a Super Bowl. Jags are ready NOW, windows in the NFL don’t stay open long.

Yeah they are in win-now mode with that D. Not the time for a bridge deal.

It sounds like it was just a plan to ease the burden next year. It’s a 2 year bridge deal. It’s just odd to me that a team with an open Super Bowl window would go with a bridge guy when the QB is the only thing holding them back.

They built like the Seahawks.

And their defensive contracts are going to look like the Seahawks' very soon.

The Seahawks had Wilson on the cheap as a 3rd round pick that allowed them to keep key players around.
