Brian Daboll is the key to who we draft IMO

I believe for all the talk about the type of QB Beane or McDermott would want, the biggest deciding factor could be a much simpler set of circumstances.

Last off season the defensive backfield was rebuilt not with big names, but with players that fit into the system. I believe it's just that simple with QB. That's how they have built this team so far.

We all know Daboll is expected to implement the E-P offense. I know the system can be altered to fit strengths of who we draft/sign, but is there anyone in the draft that right now is an excellent fit for the system? Is there anyone that is a complete mismatch for what we plan to do?

I really hope the last guy to the party (who was in some ways an after thought) and with is dismal offensive results in previous stops...isn’t going to be commanding the general input on QB decisions.

Get the Best QB.  Forget Daboll.  If you move mountains to get one of these QBs then Daboll will be the first one gone after 2018 if it isn’t working.  He’s low man on the totem poll.

In my opinion, the highest vote in the QB decision will be McDermott with Beane being the second highest vote, Pegula being the 3rd highest (with veto rights) and Daboll being number 4 on the list.     Daboll's power lies in the fact that he will have McDermott's ear.   If he lobbies hard enough, he could help sway a decision.   But I think McDermott is going to ultimately decide which QB is going to make or break his career in Buffalo.   And I think Beane and Pegula will give him the right to that "make-or-break" decision.

I agree totally.  There are hundreds of OC's out there, and maybe a few future solid NFL qb's coming out of college.  Consider us lucky to have made the playoffs and yet still have enough draft capital to move up enough to grab a top qb prospect without giving away any picks next year.

The only QB that I totally don't want to see in B'lo with an E-P offense is Bradford.  In addition to the fragility concerns, when McDaniels was Bradford's OC for a year, Bradford had an offensive performance that would have gotten him bundled up and put out for the trash if he hadn't been a #1 draft pick tied up with a then-record salary.  Now maybe that was the combination between an inexperienced QB and an OC inexperienced at tutoring guys, but I don't want to take the chance.

I think the #1 thing you need to execute an E-P offense is a smart guy who can make the short to intermediate throws with pinpoint accuracy.   And frankly, I want to see a QB drafted who has proven accuracy and adequate arm strength no matter what.  I think that Allen would probably be a bad fit.  I think that Lauletta and White would both have to eat their Wheaties and hit the weight room, along with Peterman.  Other than that, the real questions have to do with ability to learn and retain information and ability to get all the WR on the same page with them, which are things fans can't evaluate.

I most sincerely hope you are completely mistaken

Could be.

The impression I get from OBD is that Pegula is very much involved - only from a veto/approval standpoint though.   Could be totally wrong though.

If he wasn't that involved, then I don't think he makes the trip with his staff to go talk to players.    And I think he has done that more than once if I recall correctly.

A guy can be very involved from a spectator standpoint.  It's his toy, he wants to watch it work.  He wants to see what they're talking about. That's OK

If he's actually mixing into football decisions, that's very bad news indeed for the Bills.  Never ends well.

Daboll isn't the key at all.  Beane is going to draft the best QB prospect period.  OCs come and go.  Haven't we learned the lesson of drafting players to fit a specific system?

This.  It's NOT the system that makes the QB.  If you draft the right QB, he'll likely outlast the current coaching staff and maybe even the GM.
