Bills 2018 Mock Draft Watch

Recommended Posts

21. BUFFALO BILLS (9-7)

mock-draft-3_21mason-rudolph-768x432.jpg

QB Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State

Buffalo is searching for their quarterback of the future and with two first-round picks, they can afford to take a flier on Rudolph, who fluctuates between high-end and mid-round in his play. He can get the ball down the field, as he has been one of the most productive deep throwers in the nation the last three years. Rudolph still has room to improve his accuracy in the short game, but he has great feel for throwing outside the numbers on deep outs and comebacks.

22. BUFFALO BILLS – FROM KANSAS CITY (10-6)

TE Dallas Goedert, South Dakota State

The first weapon for Rudolph, Goedert can do it all at 6-foot-5, 255 pounds. His catch radius allows him to make spectacular grabs and he’s an impressive athlete after the catch, as he averaged 8.2 YAC/reception last season. Goedert can win at every level while adding a lethal red-zone threat for Rudolph and the Bills’ offense.

The latest mock draft from Eric Galko:

4. TRADE: BUFFALO BILLS (VIA CLEVELAND)

JOSH ROSEN, QB, UCLA

Buffalo has been reported to have interest in UCLA’s Rosen. If that’s the case, it won’t be cheap moving up to select the draft’s best pocket passer. Even if Buffalo plans to stick with Tyrod Taylor for another season, that shouldn’t affect what the Bills plan to do at four unless an extension is in place.

The Buffalo Bills' need for a quarterback is among the worst secrets in the NFL, but Bleacher Report's Matt Miller does not believe that Buffalo will go with a quarterback in round one.

Instead, Miller had the Bills addressing two other offensive positions. First, the NFL draft analyst selected SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton. Miller believes that Sutton could start immediately in Buffalo.

After adding Sutton, Miller had the Bills taking Iowa center James Daniels.

Pick 53: Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State

Pick 56: Taven Bryan, DL, Florida

Pick 96: DeShon Elliott S Texas

Pick 121: Duke Ejiofor EDGE Wake Forest

Pick 158: Bo Scarbrough RB Alabama

Pick 166: Brett Toth, OT, Army

The 2018 NFL Combine is in the books and quite a few prospects helped their draft stock in Indianapolis. Some of the players who up big numbers could be Buffalo bound come April. With five picks in the first three rounds, the Buffalo Bills will look to add as many weapons as possible on both sides of the ball.

In addition to analysis on each pick, Mock Draftable spider graphs will be displayed for every player selected. Here's a look at our second Bills 7-round mock draft.

Pick 21: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville
Pick 22: Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State
Pick 53: Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford
Pick 56: Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State
Pick 96: Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame
Pick 121: John Kelly, RB, Tennessee
Pick 158: Shaquem Griffin, LB, UCF
Pick 166: Kevin Toliver, CB, LSU

I'd be very happy with this result.

21. Bills — Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama: Buffalo seems likely to lose leading tackler Preston Brown in free agency. What better way to offset such a loss than with an athletic, instinctive player from Tuscaloosa?

22. Bills (from Chiefs) — James Daniels, C, Iowa: A neck injury forced reliable C Eric Wood into retirement after the playoffs. Fortunately, the Hawkeyes are known for producing NFL-ready linemen, and Daniels has the chops to step into the vacancy left by Wood's departure.

  1. Buffalo Bills – Taven Bryan, DT from Florida
Not taking a quarterback is going to disappoint a lot of Bills fans. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way to put a trade together that made sense. With that being said, the Bills draft an incredibly gifted defensive tackle. Bryan has the athletic ability and versatility to play all over the defensive line. By drafting him, the Bills could easily prepare him to be the replacement for Kyle Williams.  He’s a high-motor guy with a great burst off the ball. He needs to come in under control more consistently, and has to do a better job at staying below pad level. Despite some of the flaws and still being somewhat raw as a pass rusher, Bryan has the upside to become a consistent three-down player for this defense.
  2. Buffalo Bills (via Kansas City) – Mike McGlinchey, OT from Notre Dame
Don’t try and sell me on Jordan Mills as the right tackle for this team. Drafting Mike McGlinchey would be a great idea for the Bills. Last year he played out of position for Notre Dame, but he’s a natural fit to play right tackle at the next level. With his frame at 6’8 and 310 pounds, he’s a perfect fit for a zone blocking scheme. He operates well in space, even if he’s not the most athletic player on the field. His angle on his kick-step is consistent, but his hand placement can become inconsistent. I’d like to see him more consistent with anchoring at the point-of-attack (POA), but this would be a great selection for the Bills.

Rob Rang 2018 NFL Mock Draft 3.0: Buffalo Bills take two Louisville Cardinals | NewYorkUpstate.com
Rang had the Bills address both sides of the ball in his third mock draft.

–21. BUFFALO BILLS: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville*: Adding a talent like Kelvin Benjamin will surely help, but the Bills might not be finished addressing a poor passing attack. Jackson plays a similar style as Tyrod Taylor, relying upon his legs as much as his arm or eyes. He is younger, cheaper and has a higher upside, however — characteristics the Bills may consider with two first-round picks this season due to Kansas City’s trade up last year to nab their quarterback of the future, Patrick Mahomes.

–22. BUFFALO BILLS (from KANSAS CITY CHIEFS): Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville*: Taking the strategy that if one former Louisville Cardinal is good, another can be even better, the Bills may opt for a rare double-dip. To be clear, Buffalo already boasts one of the better cornerback duos in the NFL in the NFL with flashy first-year pro Tre’Davious White and veteran Vontae Davis. To topple the Patriots in the AFC East, however, teams must be able to match up with their slot receivers, as well, and Alexander possesses the agility and ball-skills to plug in immediately here.

The latest from Chad Reuter

Five-round mock draft: Buffalo Bills trade up for Baker Mayfield

PICK 6
Baker Mayfield - QB, Oklahoma
PROJECTED TRADE WITH COLTS.
If Bradley Chubb isn't there for the Colts, GM Chris Ballard will be happy to move back again to gain a package of picks that would include, at minimum, a third-round pick in the 2018 draft (reflected below) and a 2019 first-rounder. Bills head coach Sean McDermott is hungry for a playmaker at the quarterback position, so a move up the board is definitely possible.

PICK 22
Courtland Sutton - WR, SMU

If the team is going to get a quarterback, he'll need receivers with whom he can connect in 2018 and beyond. Kelvin Benjamin is due to become a free agent after the 2018 season, so Sutton provides another big body in the receiving corps.

53. Bills: Tarvarus McFadden, CB, Florida State
56. Bills: Tyrell Crosby, OT, Oregon
65. Bills: Terrell Edmunds, S, Virginia Tech
121. Bills: Leon Jacobs, LB, Wisconsin
166. Bills: Dimitri Flowers, FB, Oklahoma
