Would the Browns be a trade partner at #4?

Recommended Posts

The Cleveland Browns have the first and fourth picks in the draft this year. The Browns are almost certain to take the best QB in the draft. With that being said, I wonder if Cleveland would be a willing trade partner with the Bills for the #4 spot? I’m sure it would take at least both Bills first round picks, a second rounder and who knows what else that could entice the Browns (maybe including a player on the current Bills roster or a 2019 draft pick included?)

It certainly should be explored, and it's fairly easily doable.

According to the point chart, it would take both 1sts and our earlier 2nd. We'd still be left with 1 2nd round pick, and wouldnt have to spend any of next year's picks.

The only issue is that other teams, such as the Jets, might try moving up and Cleveland would stay in the top 10. But no other team has 2 1sts to offer this year, so we have that going for us.

I think other teams wanting to trade up will drive up the price above what the actual value is

If Barkely is there at # 4 the Browns will take him IMO. Franchise QB at 1, franchise RB at 4. A match made in heaven. If Indy takes Barkely at 3 maybe 4 opens up but Browns might still want a franchise RB to firm up the rookie QB (Guice). If the Colts don't take Barkely maybe the 3 spot opens up, but Gore is 34 and so why wouldn't the want the best back since AP? Maybe our trade partner is Tampa, but that might be to late for the guy or guys they are prepared to burn big capital for.

No point in trading up and honestly, if I'm the Browns I'm staying right at 1 and 4. They need an infusion of talent and I could see them going Darnold/Rosen at 1 and Barkley at 4. When you only win 2 games in two seasons, you have to hit on two top 5 picks.

I think this fan base is going to have to just accept that we might see a free agent or Peterman to start the season. Once you're in to the third, fourth, maybe even 5th best player at a position, there's absolutely zero upside to trading away picks for that player. It would take a miracle for a guy like Mayfield or Rudolph to live up to two first round picks.

I think #3 and #4 could both be in play for a trade up.  If Indy is still committed to Luck, or at least happy enough with Brissett as their backup option, I think they'd be more than willing to put #3 in play as they could use help all over the field.

I'm fine trading both 1st, one of our 2nds and even a conditional 2019 pick if it gets us Darnold or Rosen, assuming those are the guys our braintrust target.

1 game in 2 seasons. 4 games in the past 3 seasons combined

Ha, you're right. I can't believe people even show up for the games honestly. I know the Bills haven't been great but they haven't been 1 win in 2 seasons bad. Ever.

Who would we be trading up for if Cleveland and NY take QBs and then a team trades up with the Colts for a QB? Hypothetically, we could be giving up multiple 1st round picks for the 4th best QB.

4th rated QB.

And what if that 4th rated QB ends up being the best QB?

What would you guys think about taking Saquon Barkley at that spot?

If the Bills trade up to 4 and take a RB:

1. This board will crash

2. Fans will announce retirement here on TBD how they are done, selling season tickets etc.

I think that it’s only possible if Barkley goes to Indy at 3. I could see the Browns taking 21, 22, and 53. They could start the draft with a 1st 2 rounds of:

Darnold

Josh Jackson

Connor Williams

Arden Key

Sony Michel

Malik Jefferson

Anthony Miller

Or

They could sign Cousins, take Barkley 1 and make that same trade. Their draft could be:

Barkley

Josh Jackson

Connor Williams

Arden Key

Harrison Phillips

Malik Jefferson

Anthony Miller

Yeah because the best quarterbacks of every draft class have gone exactly in the order they were drafted.
