I'd be on board with Smith as the transition guy for a drafted Franchise QB. He'd be a good mentor, would be a good upgrade on TT and could sail off into the sunset in two years when he'll be 35. I'd go as high as a 2nd but ideally a 3rd round pick. QB is the most important position and has been holding us back for years and years and years. He would be an upgrade over Hotrod in regards to passing yards which everyone seems to want. Haha yea. Truthfully Alex Smith is like the enhanced version of the Tyrod Taylor is he good debate. Alex has won a lot, has pretty strong numbers, and seems like a good leader. Some of the playoff losses he has like you mention are head scratching especially that Colts one where his defense just disappeared. Yet I completely understand his detractors. I have no problem trading 21 and a 2nd to move to the teens if they see a QB still available that they like. That is best-case for me. If that doesn’t happen, I wouldn’t be opposed to trading 21 or 22 for a 2nd and #1 on 2019. That gives the ability to fill lots of holes this year while still having ammo for next year to move up for a QB. Worst scenario is to trade up for a QB who they are not really sold on.
