New Era Field Heated - Settle a Bet?

Recommended Posts

Since it's below zero in many places .. had some fun last night and replayed the snow game of the Colts / Bills ... my buddy claims New Era field has some form of underground heating due to the hash marks .. I said it was the guys with the shovels / leaf blowers between commercials ... who is right?  I've search google all morning and can't get a hit to confirm ... because if its on the internet it has to be true ... so I'm turning to the Stadium Wall to avoid "fake news".

.......yup.....it is not heated..............

Lambeau is

According to The Times, the ground at Lambeau Field has been heated since 1967 when the franchise installed electric coils underneath the playing surface to keep the ground soft in frigid conditions. The only reason "The Ice Bowl" -- the 1967 NFL Championship game between the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys -- occurred was because the sub-zero temperatures overwhelmed the recently installed heating system.

In 1997, the Packers replaced the coil system with a series of underground pipes filled with a solution that included antifreeze. The Times reported the temperature of the field is controlled by field manager Allen Johnson. Temperatures are expected to be in the 20s during Sunday's divisional round playoff game against the New York Giants, but the newspaper reported the field should read at a comfortable 40 degrees.

...LOL...I don't think artificial turf can be heated............Ravens, Browns & Denver are also heated (all natural grass).......

I would guess there is some sort of polymer that could handle a low heat for snow melt.... Drainage would be key..

Buti also. Cant think of any other heated artificial turf..

But a big part of the snow game was the snow on the field and the players having to adjust to it.... So would we want that

i'll tell you one thing, they needed some interior radiant heaters in the hallways the day of the Indy game.

Everyone was freezing and nowhere to warm up even for a few minutes unless you were in club seating of course, which the majority of the fans aren't.

Saw some young kids dangerously cold, girls literally crying in the hallways.

Its nice that Pegula is renovating the clubs, but if he experienced the scene during that game he would be embarrassed at how ugly it was.   I love the history of the stadium and like that it's old school and not glitzy/casino looking like all the new ones, but she needs some hallway heating for the masses.

Concessions employees were freezing too, no pads to stand on, no heaters.  Nice compassion Jacobs fat cats.

The only heaters at New Era Field are the fry lamps above the club seats.

Can confirm that the Ralph doesn't even have hot water heaters based on what comes out of the bathroom faucets
