Dude?!  What the hell did I just watch?  Holy hell....I’m not going to be able to eat for 3 days.  Jeebus!

...and the ending sucked IMO.  It was an okay movie, but definitely not for the faint of heart as you stated.

I thought the whole thing was a yawn o thon.

Right? it's just different and had me thinking about it for a couple days after. I think that alone made this movie unique to me as I've never seen anything like it. I agree the ending was not the greatest but still worth a watch as everything during and between was pretty wild to say the least.

It wasn’t bad.  The concept was interesting.  It was just sloppily executed, IMO.  The ending didn’t help.  In any event, it was worth a watch I guess.

It certainly wasn’t John Wick, but it was anything but boring.  You didn’t enjoy the face pooping?!  I thought that was your thing ??

I just thought it was broadly predictable even if specifics like face pooping weren't.  There wasn't a lot of nuance.  The dubbing wasn't too bad but didn't help.

Ozark season 3 dropped last night if it hasn't already been mentioned.

The cast of characters is truly something to behold.

I loved Ozark and Bosch.  Anything else like those anyone can recommend?

I thought Bosch was almost perfect and then they played Knopfler at the end and I realized there was no almost involved.

Watched season one of Ricky Gervais' "After Life". I thought it was excellent.  Very well done.  Season 2 starts Friday so I picked a good time to binge S1.

My plan is to get settled and binge the entire second season and time it so it finishes as the draft starts tomorrow night.

  • 4 weeks later...

Watched the movie Hostiles on Netflix.  Starring Christian Bale.  Kind of a dark and certainly violent movie.  Was pretty solid though.  Civil war officer (Bale) is tasked with escorting an imprisoned Cheyenne Indian Chief who is dying back to his home land in Montana.  I thought very good acting, cinematography, and storyline.  Again, some very violent parts though.

What happened to this thread?

Wife and I just watched Upload on Amazon Prime and really liked it.

There are a few more series on Amazon Prime I'm thinking about trying. If you've seen them, what are your thoughts?

Electric Dreams

Tales From the Loop

Sneaky Pete

Catastrophe

The Tick

I am watching 'Man in the High Castle' right now, on the 3rd season and its not bad

Also watching the HBO Show 'Barry' (Kind of a 'Bill De la Tour Dautrieve' double bill) and the latest season of Curb

When those are done I think I may start Veep and Space Force

Barry is one of my favorite shows.

I wish the 3rd season would come out already!

Echo in the Canyon, a documentary hosted by Jakob Dylan, about the rock scene in LA in mid-1960s on Netflix, is worth a look-see.  Good commentary by David Crosby, Tom Petty, Ringo Starr and others.  The sound track is very good too.

I got half way through it, and even though Robbie Amell who is the male lead is HOT! HOT! HOT! (oh, and just so we are clear, he is smokin' hot), it missed for me.

I saw they ordered a season 2 so I may go back and finish once that is ready for viewing, depending on reviews. ?‍♂️

Did you like The Good Place? Or watch it?

Upload was nowhere near as good and not even in the ballpark as funny, but it was reminiscent of that show (and Black Mirror) in some ways. It was a little melodramatic at some points but overall I liked it.

I was dying laughing when his head blew up in the first episode.

My wife wants funny in her TV shows, and even though she liked Breaking Bad (which she had to stop watching towards the end because she was getting stressed out) and loves Better Call Saul, she's usually watching reruns of Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men and is happy. We both love The Good Place and still have to watch the rest of the season. We've watched the first season and a half of the show Catastrophe and both really liked it for most of the first season but started in a weird place in the 2nd season and I'm wondering now if it's just aiming for vulgarity for vulgarity's sake.

I have not watched The Good Place, but will definitely give it a go. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm actually envious you're just going to start that show.

Hope it's your kind of humor

I found it to be funny at first but highly formulaic.  The jokes worked at first but after a few episodes it was really repetitive.  I'm not surprised some people would like it but I am surprised someone one would grade it so highly.

And this is why comedy is the most difficult thing to recommend to anyone.

I think The Good Place is one of the funniest and smartest shows on TV.

I belly laughed constantly during that show.

Oscar Wilde once said "taste is indefensible." I think that's especially true for comedy.

I'll go ahead and recommend "Hinterland" on Netflix.  It is a British police drama.  Some may see it as a slower moving European Bosch.  There are more differences than similarities but it is well written with a lot of tension.  Not a lot of action and it's understated but the stories are very good.  Give it a chance.

Greg Daniels and Steve Carrell are behind a new Netflix comedy "Space Force" coming at the end of May. Definitely interested in this one.

I watched the first episode yesterday.  Solid Meh.

I may watch the second episode to see if they do anything that is actually funny.
