They also topped out... Right, so it's a good question, why didn't they trust Dorsey to do the retooling? After all, they promoted from within, so it's not like they felt he didn't put a good player personnel/talent evaluation team in place. All teams go through cycles of topping out the cap/retooling. IMHO it had something to do with what Tony Dungy said just after KC lost the playoff. He was pretty hot, uncharacteristically hot and while it didn't get quoted in that link, he said something to the effect of "if you want to go deep in the playoffs, Andy Reid isn't the coach to take you there."
