How can the Chargers, with this many successful QB’s over the years, NEVER win anything meaningful???  Humphries was the only one to lead them to a Super Bowl in 1994.  I don’t think Rivers can!

That game was hard to watch, at least the 2nd half.  I like Rivers.  He is a competitor who leaves it all on the field, but he comes up short time after time.  He started the 2nd half disaster with that interception thrown into triple coverage.  The announcers said he threw nine 4th quarter interceptions last year.  That confirms he struggles when the game is on the line,

And Cousins is Rivers 2.0 yet many want him to come to Buffalo...no thanks.

Just now, Real McCoy said:

Cousins never had a LT or Gates on his team. Cousins has zero and still does his thing. Your hate is astonishing and I have no clue why?

Jordan Reed, Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson were nothing huh?

LOL @matter2003. the year he made all 3 look like pro bowlers and went to the playoffs? Go look at Jackson and Garcon now without Cousins. Reed is the epitome of what injury prone should be called.

Again, Hall of Fame LT and Gates, Rivers could not get it done. Your call on a 3 year starter is a horrible hot take that statistically has proven you wrong. How many HOF players has Cousins played with it?

Your take

It will be proved right over time. Cousins is a losing player and will do nothing for whoever signs up other than put up big numbers. 9-7...wow such a great performance

Another hot take, I've read enough of your BS assumptions there Matter on this matter. You have no clue WTF your talking about.

To the thread:

Rivers needs a top 5 D historically to be worth a damn. I'm sure fans are still bashing there heads about Brees when LT n Gates were in their prime. What could have been in SD if Brees was around longer? Either way lucky bastards to have decent QB's the last 20 years.

How so?

Cousins has over a 65 completion % , over 4000 yards, and better than a 2:1 td/int ratio  the last 3 years(his first 3 starting) but you dont think thats good.

A good qb helps more than any other position but they still need other good players to win

Both Rivers and Cousins are fierce competitors, with real talent. Both have made bad teams competitive--at times. Look at the state of NFL quarterbacking, neither of these guys are HOF, but both could win big in the right situations.  I would love to have either Buffalo right now.

And how's that worked out for the Redskins? Stats dont and never will tell the whole story... Rivers puts up similar numbers every year for the past 10 years...hows that worked out for the Chargers?  They make the same type of boneheaded plays when its a close game late in the 4th Quarter...they make the same poor decisions when their team needs a play late in a close game...they put up lots of stats against bad teams and good numbers against good teams but it doesnt translate into wins.

These two are the ultimate pro-bowl not super bowl type players. Cousins will have the ssme career arc as Rivers...bank on it...ill be here 5 years from now so we can revisit this discussion.
