Meh. The standard run of the mill defensive minded conservative HC.

This is where I am at too, for now at least.

This offense is inexcusably bad.    A competent head coach should be able to get more out of this offense than he has gotten.

If he can't, which is what it looks like, well then maybe he won't ever be all that successful in this league.    He should be more deeply involved with the offense than he appears to be.   And he should have a legit public explanation for why he can't get the production out of these players who produced a lot more last year.

Considering most of us had them between three and six wins at the beginning of the year, this team's exceeded expectations given the lack of talent on this roster (WR was a joke this year).  Wins at Atlanta and Kansas City were impressive.  McDermott has made some rookie mistakes (not kicking the field goal before halftime against the Bucs trying to get a quick pass play out of bounds which backfired, starting Peterman against a tough Chargers defense on the road).  He's built a good culture, but everything will depend on finding a franchise quarterback over the next two years.

I'm happy with the discipline he's brought to the team, the overall game preparation, and the results he's gotten out of the talent. I question some of his game-time decisions, but I'm hopeful that he'll learn as he goes.

He gets a solid B in my gradebook.

Half the guys on the team are guys that he helped pick and/or decided should be on this team and/or decided were good enough.

Yes but this is how a rebuilding process works. Half of the current offensive personnel are not built for this coordinators offense, especially the most important piece, the QB. I think its tough to judge the offensive numbers this year. I think mcdermott has done alright considering the gutting and turnover of the roster myself.

The guy punted on 4th and 1 in overtime of a must win game. He’s got some making up to do.

Agreed.  I criticized the move and still think it was a poor decision that we were fortunate worked out.  The only thing I could come up with is the Colts knew the run was coming and RB's can slip easily in the snow as we saw all game.  You don't convert that 4th down and the game's over as you'd be pinned back inside your 20 against the win if you get the ball back.   I would of liked to hear what was discussed on the sideline during that timeout.  Somebody had to tell him that a tie probably means the end of the season.  I'm hoping at least.
