We have a LT.

Maybe if you kept the gimp to play RT.

*shrug*

So what do you think they can get for a tackle coming off foot surgery without proving he's healthy again? Most likely low to nothing IMO.

I'd much rather roll the dice and see him play like a 1st round talent again, he's demonstrated this in the past. I'm sure our shiny new QB whomever it will become would like a Oline worth a crap too.

I suspect that they restructure his deal to free up some cap space. The Bills know that Glenn when out there is the anchor to the offensive line and Glenn has to know that coming off multiple injuries and a surgery his value out on the open market won't be tremendous. I would think that it is the best outcome for both parties. The Bills retain talent and free up some cap space, Glenn still gets a good deal out of it.

hope they can get something for him this off season. wont be much given his injury history but they need to deal him none the less.

useless player.

Enough already: Let him go for SOMETHING, anything.

Don't need him and his replacement is already on the roster.  Draft another Tackle.

McCoach likely told TPegs that he could win this year.  And this is already an older team headed toward no more than a 9-7 finish in McCoach's first season. It's unlikely 2018 draft picks are going to come in and in some cases replace the departed talent and improve the team right out of the gate.

A team that doesn't acknowledge they're rebuilding and tries to cushion the blow will end up rebuilding anyway. It's just might be with another regime.  They don't have 2 seasons to be mediocre to average, i.e. 6-9 wins, before things need to click.

This team isn't that old, offensively InCog, Wood, and Shady are their only starting players 29 or older. Defensively Kyle, Hughes, and Humber are older but the secondary is very young and there are some young players in the front 7. I honestly think that McD and company had to be selling ownership on a 3 year plan. And given the firesale they did in the off-season and the Dareus trade, I think they weren't selling this season as a huge win now priority.

Next season they have 4 premium draft picks to work with and some cap space to retain talent and add some players. I think the team even if they finish 8-8 or 9-7 and miss the playoffs has a lot of reason to be optimistic for 2018. A good draft class and a couple of key pieces added and retained in free agency and you are looking at a team that could easily take a step up.

This decision will be based on what the surgeon sees, and how he rehabs.

Yep.

Fortunately, it won’t be decided by the knee-jerk reaction of some fans here. I’d hate to lose a tackle like Glenn and see him dominate elsewhere if he’s healthy next year

I just have to know: how is it better to get rid of a guy that we know can play LT quite reliably and entrust the position to a draft pick?

Keep in mind that, right now, this team is likely to have ~$50M in cap space with Glenn on the roster...

I love how everyone just assumes he's going to heal.

Best of luck with that.

Players heal,............signed Sammy Watkins ankle/foot, Ted Washington ankles, Drew Bress shoulder, Thurman Thomas knee, Willis McGahee knee, Carson Palmer knee, etc etc........

for every player who is injured and they say it is career threatening, vast majority play again.

I love how everyone just assumes he can be traded.

What kind of GM not wanting to get fired would give up any assets for this guy?

This team is ancient. They write interoffice notes in hieroglyphics and sometimes Latin. 2nd oldest in NFL.

Time for a new OT, Glenn is always hurt, Henderson also.

Why is it just when we sign these guys to a big lucrative contract the injuries begin? Maybe the nature of the NFL and constant injuries forces owners to sign off on "non guaranteed" contracts. There's just little longevity in players anymore.

With our luck we'll trade him, he'll have 2 bionic feet surgically implanted and play at a pro bowl level for years to come....somewhere else.

can he? well, i suppose he's done an admirable job guarding the training table the past season and a third.

Foot surgery is a very problematic situation, even for someone not carrying a lot of weight.  My late wife had it repeated six times, including by two of the top foot specialists in the country.  Not sure keeping Glenn around makes sense.  What makes even less sense is assuming he'll be okay and not preparing for him possibly being unavailable long term.

I doubt the plan is to keep him around long term. I think it’s more Sammy style in that he gets surgery now, heals up, they showcase him in preseason then get what they can for him. The injury history and the contract mean it won’t be as much as you’d like, but we get out from under the contract and get younger with Dawkins.  They have already shown a willingness to dump guys and move on.

He's under contract through 2020.  Due like $14 mil next year.  REbuild the O-line  plz.

He’s only 28, so pretty much in his prime if healthy. If we move on I hope this will help get us a better return. It seems like a lifetime since Jason Peters left, and he was a big loss for Philly when he went down this year.

I hope he gets healthy and they can re work his contract. He's a great player when healthy. Would rather retain him with a better contract than trade him

Agree. Solid OTs are hard to find. Let him heal, put him at RT and rework his contract if he rebounds from surgery.

Third year the pressure will be on. As for Glenn, I see absolutely no point in creating ANOTHER hole on this team by trading him. They are in great salary cap as it is. What exactly is the point in trading him?

Because he doesn't like to play football.

He has an injury but no one knows exactly what it is. He says he can't play because it hurts, it's sore but no one knows WTF is wrong with it. And then when he does practice a few days he gets an illness and can't practice. Then after he feels better his foot hurts again. Its kind of like when your kid doesn't want to go to school cause they say they have a sore throat so you take him to the doctor.  The doctor says the kid is fine then he wants to play with  his friends in the adternoon. The next morning he says he's sick and wants to stay home from school again. You send the kid to school. The guy is a basket case evidently. McD don't like that kind of player. He's gone if he doesn't restructure IMO.
