NFL 7-6 teams point differential

Points scored for and against on all NFL 7-6 teams games this year

Buffalo            -50

Baltimore       +72

Kansas City   +40

LA Chargers  +73

Dallas             +22

Detroit            + 9

Green Bay      -17

Does this mean Baltimore is 122 points better than us. Of course not. But maybe it does.

What do you guys think?

It means with the exception of Green Bay, we are not of the same quality as the other teams on the list.  IN some cases, by a lot.

It's because our record is artificially inflated.  That is due to the crazy and unsustainable turnover differential in the first part of our season.

That data says we are lucky to have the record we do.

It means our offense has been anemic compared to most other teams or that the teams we have faced are just that good and we are more than fortunate to be 7-6. The stats are a bit inflated by the Saints and Chargers games though.

They were last night. These games are not played by computer or analytics.

They are played with humans who for whatever reasons either play with (a lot of) emotion or not,

and why it is so hard to go 16-0, and why Vegas makes a fortune from gamblers who think

they know the results beforehand.

The Bills have allowed points at a rate close to the AFC average. The offensive output , on the other hand has been putrid. In Conference the Bills have scored more than only the Dolphins, Broncos, Bengals and Browns. League wide they've outscored only 8 teams. So it shows that the Bills have a terrible offense that is firmly bottom ten in the NFL. That's not surprising given the lack of talent, questionable offensive scheme and mediocre to bad quarterbacking.

The Patriots lost to the Dolphins last night.  Does that mean the Fins are better?

Games are usually about matchups. The Dolphins match up well to the Patriots weaknesses. The Bills do not.

It means nothing. Six weeks ago we had one of the best point differentials in the league.

It means we played one one of the most high-powered offenses in the league in the Saints (and didn't come close to matching their output). It means we didn't get to play the Browns twice like some teams. It means we played the anemic Colts in the snow and the game was closer than it should have been. It means our defense whiffed sometimes, our offense whiffed others, both whiffed simultaneously a few times, and we've never had them both on fire simultaneously.

Yeah, it'd be great if we had a stellar O and a stellar D. What team wouldn't? Most teams don't get that wish, which means you have to make strategic choices (limited draft resources + salary cap = you can't have it all). In the end, crushing opponents with a juggernaut isn't what's necessary to win. All that matters is the W. The choices you make about where to invest in your team -- O or D -- need to add up to just enough to outscore your opponents more often than not. Strength of victory almost never matters.
