Bills Defense Struggling = Last 6 games just 3 total turnovers forced

I knew that the Bills defense was struggling in the turnover department but it wasn't until I counted that I realized how bad they struggled.

Chew on this - the opportunistic Bills defense combined for 16 takeaways over the first 8 weeks of the seasons.  Really that number is over a 5 game span, because they had no takeaways in Week 1 and Week 2.   But in that span, they had 3 take aways or more in 5 out of 7 football games.

Since the Thursday Night Meltdown against the Jets in Week 9, the Bills defense has managed just 3 takeaways in 6 games.  Mind you, two of those takeaways were excellent plays by Tre'Davious White who seems to be the only real big time playmaker on the team.  So that's 3 takeaways total in 6 games.  If you take away the two excellent plays from White that's a grand total of ONE turnover over the past 6 weeks, which was "Razor" Ramon Humber's forced fumbled against New Orleans.

So this again reinforces what a lot of us already knew - The Bills defense is really lacking playmakers (especially the front 7) and McDermott has done a fairly good job with the assortment of talent he's been given.

Watching the Miami vs New England game now.  If the Bills can beat Miami twice, they'll need to actually take the ball away.

Dareus was traded for nothing.  He occupied two blockers on most but not all of his snaps.  He may not have played that great but other teams respected his presence.  The pass rush has been non-existent since, and frankly wasn't that good from the start.

Fumbles are mostly luck.

INT's and Yards/attempt are the true signs of a good/great defense.  Gaines getting hurt set them back as well.

McD needs to start dialing up the blitz packages.  Play Lorax at DE and keep Humber and Milano on the field together.

Because the teams are running the ball effectively. Opposing QBs have not had to force the ball downfield.   Our LBs are below average.
