Because missing the playoffs at 8-8 or thereabouts for two decades is AWESOME.

Better to win (at best) 4-5 games every year for most of that time except for one year that looks like a fluke now.

At least Bills fans get to go into the season with a chance that this year could be the year they make the playoffs instead of looking at the draft once the preseason ends and hoping they maybe win more then one game.

They are less well positioned than they would be if they had just picked Carson Wentz or Deshaun Watson.  Fact.

Punting on getting a franchise QB doesn't work.

You are right about getting the qb sooner rather than later is the best way to go. But if the new GM smartly utilizes his many high picks and large cap space the Browns should be in a good position to build a competitive and more sustaining franchise in the near future.

I certainly wouldn't have wanted to take such a long and arduous road that the Browns took. They made the rebuilding task so much more difficult with their draft flubs. But a reasonable case can be made that the Browns are in a better position than the Bills are presently in.from an accumulation of young talent. Now is the time for them to corral what they have and will soon have and think in more immediate terms instead of the long-term future.

They can.  They can do the thing they should have done all along and take franchise Quarterback.  If they select anyone other than Josh Rosen they deserve everything they get.

They are slightly lucky that 3 consecutive years with guys worth taking have arrived at the right time for them though.  Sachi Brown didn't have a clue what he was doing.

They are well positioned to say the least and Dorsey is a solid choice to make the right draft picks and free agency acquisitions.  Gotta identify and draft the right QB to finally end the Factory of Sadness.

"Factory of Sadness"...Bills or Browns....I'm just a bit confused....

Sashi Brown did a great job of acquiring assets.  With the success of Wentz and Watson he did a poor job of evaluating talent at Qb.  They are primed for a big time Qb.  i would even consider going after Cousins and drafting a Qb like Allen to groom behind him.  They have the cap space to change the whole offense which is needed and can offer Cousins all the money in the world and fix the offense.  They have a solid defense but no talent on the outside.  Gordon hasn't played football in 3 years and walks onto the field as their best Wr which is shameful.

And why are they well positioned?

Because they haven't won.

They have a solid defense top 15.  A decent line even without Joe Thomas.  They have 0 talent at Wr.  josh gordon out 3 years is still better than anyone they have.  100 mil in cap space 10 picks.  They find a Qb or 2 bring in some pass catchers they should be in line to actually win some ball games.  Kizer has been ok at times but completly dreadful at others.  His accuracy concerns are real and his decision making in the redzone has been horrible.  On paper the offense needs all new wrs, their RBs are ok and that young Te looks to be the real deal.  Their o line is better than ours and the defense is deep with talent at all levels.  The right Qb and that franchise could see a La rams like round about.

Point is they got that way by tanking and trading assets.

Gordon is arguably the most talented WR in football though..........they got rich quick at WR if he can stay focused.

He and Njoku.........those are some GREAT targets to start with..........probably sign Pryor back from Washington this offseason(they reportedly tried to trade for him before deadline).........that would be a big and fast receiving corps.

Chris Trapasso?  Anyone know anything about him in projecting draft picks?  He has Lamar Jackson going #1 to Cleveland, and then the Browns picking up Barkley with their second pick.  Giants taking Rosen at #2 and the Bengals taking Darnold at #9.  If Darnold made it that long, I sure hope the Bills trade up to get him.
