ESPN: Tom Brady’s Most Dangerous Game

The Patriots legend thinks he can play until he's 45 without sacrificing body, mind or integrity. But his future is not just in his hands.

It has become customary to think of Brady as an athlete without limits, one who overturns expectation by refusing to concede an inch to anyone else's idea of the inevitable. But The TB12 Method offers a portrait of a ferociously limited human being, albeit the world's "most hydrated" one.

ive believes for a while with the complexity of the game, health, protecting QB rules...that our best QB play could come from QBs 35 plus and playing into your 40s will be a standard as time goes on.

playing into your mid 40s is one thing. Playing at the same level is another. Jmo

Here are some highlights to a long long read, synopsis, Brady thinks he can live and play forever, all injuries can be avoided, he can never get sunburnt, oils himself up with coconut oil and a vibrating sphere, read all about it for $200.

The TB12 Method and all its associated paraphernalia, from a $250 resistance band kit to a $200 cookbook

he uses "partner-pliability" or goes solo with a jar of coconut oil he applies himself and a TB12 "vibrating sphere."

he is so well-hydrated that "even with adequate exposure to the sun, I won't get sunburned"

sleeps, famously, in TB12 "bioceramic recovery wear," which is also for sale from TB12

Brady seems to be asking his readers to acknowledge not simply that he can recover but that he is unscathed, as if he were not playing in Sunday's games at all.

And injuries can be avoided

By Brady's logic, the injury could not have been a matter of luck -- there is no luck. It could not have been the game -- don't blame the game. It has to be a failure of pliability. "

He’s doing everything he can to pimp his products.

Elongating muscles is nothing new but he’s only 40, he has years before concerns with muscle elasticity becomes an issue.

He’s been fortunate, and that’s all it is,it’s no magical cocktail for longevity in football. He’s going to get hurt and he will never be a starting QB until age 45 in today’s game. Time will take care of it,regardless.

This doesn’t seem to be working well for Gronkowski or Edelman.

Itll happen quickly. I dont think he makes it to 45 at this level. I would bet sometime within the next 3 seasons he is going to hit a cliff (if he doesnt get hurt).

I also wonder what would happen if he got a scary concussion at this stage. He would be smart to walk off with a lot of house money IMO.

He always has been very cautious.... and an expert at getting just enough out of the pocket to throw it out of bounds, or donk it off at a checkdown's feet.

Bone breaks, ligaments tears, and skin bleeds.

His focus on the TB12 brands impact on the future of football seems too big of a priority. And no matter how much the refs protect him there can be a guy who doesnt care who dives into his head or shoulder like Kiko did to Flacco.

All this. Brady might be able to play, and play fairly well, to 45, or so. But if he keeps on getting hit (something that didn't happen much, until this year) he will get injured. How badly injured? Who knows? As has been mentioned, no matter how good you condition, bones break. And, as we age, we take longer to mend.

The Pats have typically had a QB in the fold who could play, reasonably well, for a few games---even when they had Mallet, but they were lucky and didn't need to start him. I'm guessing they find another decent backup, for next year. This year however, they are playing with fire, IMO.
