The Detriot press is complaining that the guy is a $9M/yr QB guru, with a $1M/yr offensive coordinator, as well as a $1M/yr QB specialist, yet he can't get the offense moving or take the heat following a tough loss. He did beat Florida week 1, but outside of it being an SEC team for optics, its not a good team, they might have the worst offense in the country, and they had like 10 players suspended. If he loses to Wisconsin and Ohio State and then the Colts come calling in January he will be back in the NFL next year. Isn't it better for a new coach to lose big games for a franchise that hasn't had a recent history of being in big games? Â Unquestionably Harbaugh is a mercurial (odd) fellow who has a history of taking teams that have languished and then injecting a boost to place the team in a good position where it hasn't been. Then he leaves. Is it like a sugar high where it is a short duration? Probably so. As I said in previous posts Harbaugh is the type of coach/personality where he is good at rather quick turnarounds and then the frenetic pace exhausts those around him, including the organizations he works for. Â I disagree with you that Harbaugh is going to leave as soon as you suggest. However, I think that movement will occur after he does have some very tangible success. Overall, I think he has done a good job in a very competitive league. My feeling is that he won't leave until he has a higher level of success. Then he will move on to the next challenge. I don't see how the Bears or the Colts could persuade him to leave a $9MM/yr job at his alma mater though, and I don't think Michigan will fire him in the near term even if he continues to take losses to his rivals. Ended up being a good game at the end because Penn State stopped playing. Hats off to OSU for sticking with it and fighting back and taking Barkley out of the game.
