OGTEleven Posted September 11 Posted September 11 This beautifully written song is about phone calls made to loved ones from the Towers and airplanes on September 11, 2001 by people meeting their end. Knopfler credits a newspaper writer's article for giving him the theme of and inspiration for the song but he deserves credit as well for making it so succinct and precise (as he always seem to do). My famous last words Are laying around in tatters Sounding absurd Whatever I try But I love you And that's all what really matters If this is goodbye If this is goodbye Your bright shining sun Would light up the way before me You were the one Made me feel I could fly And I love you Whatever is waiting for me If this is goodbye If this is goodbye Who knows how long we've got Or what we're made of Who knows if there's a plan or not There is our love I know there is our love My famous last words Could never tell the story Spinning unheard In the dark of the sky But I love you And this is our glory If this is goodbye If this is goodbye If this is goodbye If this is goodbye Quote

Thanks for the blast from the past! Sitting in my backyard, enjoying a cocktail when I saw this. Instantly added to the queue and listening to it right now. 1 Quote

Joe Ferguson forever Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I get acquainted with some great bands at Bristol Rhythm and Roots every year. Still, even the festival planners seem to be low on unique acts. This band played a couple years ago and accepted an invitation back. That said, I'm also running out of fresh music. Recommendations would beta-pre ciated Quote
