Del McCoury is often there. Steep Canyon Rangers, Blue Highway etc. I'll have to check out the KY fest. Hensley and Ickes did a benefit show in our town recently. They are amazing. Ralonzo Posted December 11, 2022 Share Posted December 11, 2022 In the 60's the Spiders kicked around Arizona, and then caught some big hits in the early 70's and then the band broke and the lead singer and producer caught some bigger hits in the later 70's, and then there was a resurgence in the 90's. But in the early 80's there was an artist making a statement. Though to be honestly, the commercial allusion of the release immediately preceding was... superior. IMO. Frickin brilliant live The most poignant point of Voivod is their sound was tremendously unique due to the atonal and discordant guitar style of Denis D'Amour, who sadly died of colon cancer in 2005, which should have been an end to the band as integral as he was to the sound. The fact that my dad was a huge fan of Harry James (and the Bills!) and that I bought him this fantastic album (King James Version), recorded in an acoustically excellent chapel with a single state of the art mic direct to vinyl) many years ago as a present, compelled a listen and ultimately buying the unremastered CD from Amazon.
