Bills to use virtual reality

Recommended Posts

I'm hearing we've signed a virtual reality training firm for QB reps. Spherical video of the defense allows QBs to read and react to actual defenses, it's actually pretty cool in my own experience - but I'm no QB.

Good article on Carson Palmer's success using virtual reality

Cardinals' use of virtual reality technology yields record season

Not surprisingly, Clemson connection --

Clemsons football team was one of the first to use the virtual reality system Belch created which combines real film with wearable technology for football players to get 360-degree views of the field. It takes video filmed by six GoPro cameras attached together at the top of a tripod, which is usually stationed in the middle of the defense near where the inside linebackers would stand or behind and just to the side of the quarterback, giving players a 360-degree view inside the headset

And here is the (really good) MMQB piece on it from last season ICYMI

Sorry, couldn't read past this line: "the Cardinals’ 171-play game plan ran headlong into a live opponent and real-life conditions in Cleveland"

Wow, when you take a moment to think about all the mental details and quick decisions an NFL quarterback has to account for, a virtual reality video game sounds like a great training tool.

You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

It's been used elsewhere for a couple years now. It's nice to know the Bills are slowly catching up to the rest of the world.

Its all fun and games until Tyrod can longer differentiate between the VR dream sequence and real life and goes on a murderous rampage. Look what happened with Doug Quaid. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
