Illegitimate or invalid is a bit of an exaggeration on my part, but if you look at the attitudes expressed and the fact that this discussion (before there even was a single protester in the streets) was lumped into a thread titled "Liberal Protests" I think you'll find the issue underlying the protest has tepid support.  I don't know if you've taken the temperature in here lately but I don't think Liberal is used positively very often.  Tells you a little bit about the bias here.

 

Page 356 has a few sterling examples where the reason for the protest is completely dismissed.

 

Page 291 has the insinuation that is was a false flag and the rioting was all premeditated.  

 

Right at the start page 206, Never fail to take advantage of a tragedy.

 

Page 216, pre-planned protests and rioting.

 

Page 213 "Funny how there are no riots when one black person kills another black person on the street. Am I to assume that murdering black people is OK as long as another black person without a uniform does it? These guys should have bee protesting like this when all the jobs were getting shipped over seas."

 

It doesn't take much reading between the lines to surmise what these people think about the issues.

 

We have seen plenty of legitimate and informed discussion around the facts of whether black men are disproportionately killed by the police.   Some in this thread do not think the protesters have much of a gripe based on facts and stats.  Then you have the crazies in this forum who operate with impunity and post about false flags.  PPP needs to eat their own like the old days.  Bring back DC Tom and even that insufferable blowhard OCBills.

 

In any event, the difference between the Hong Kong thread and this thread are striking (which was my whole point) and the law and order folks can't claim this is all about rioting, violence against cops, or property destruction.  I believe the participants on this board have more sympathy for the citizens of Hong Kong than they do for their fellow Americans marching in streets and I think that has to do with the governments being protested and general views that BLM, police brutality, inequality, and injustice are a media creation.

...because the anarchy and push for socialism has long been in the planning stages, only needing an incident to launch.....an incident was bound to happen in the vitriol of the US political climate....authority is at the top of their rebuke....rogue cops will always exist and need to be punished...perhaps a better screening process for applicants is needed..but that is not the sole source of our societal ills...we in business are all guilty of bad hires.......socialism levels the playing field of the capitalistic " go getters" to feed the millennial types who want more for doing less or even ANYTHING....and we're NOT even considering the current menu of public assistance...Big Fredo and NYS pays out 62+ BILLION annually.......income redistribution is precisely it.........

I for one have more sympathy for the Hong Kong protesters protesting for freedom than the violent protesters that are killing and injuring people, vandalizing and looting. The violent side of our domestic protesters are very well prepared to cause mayhem. Pallets of bricks being prepositioned around numerous cities seems to indicate a fair amount of premeditation.  

 

BTW, for those of you who keep pointing out all of the social injustice issues that blacks here in America are suffering from it should be noted that Trump's efforts have shepherded prison reform, better unemployment numbers and higher wages. The crazy Left has not only been opposing him since before he was sworn in but fighting him tooth and nail to reverse his policies. It's almost like those people wanted to keep blacks down on the plantation and dependent upon the Left to provide them minimum subsistence.
