Charles Clay REPORT: Dolphins won't match offer sheet

Recommended Posts

some more help for the oline and Roman will have all the pieces he needs for a ground n pound, running/short to intermediate passing offense. Question: will they be able to use deeper threats like Goodwin and Watkins? Be interested how many times they threw the ball more than 20 yards with 9ers, and how that ranks vs rest of league

Best 2 things that have happened to the BILLS in the last 25 years, happened this football year: Pegulas took over and Marrone wimped out, tucked tail and left town. Rex / Roman with Whaley pulling the roster strings has altered the BILLS' destiny in a powerfully positive way unlike any other in more than two decades.

@hsimon62: if you are worried about the cap w/report that Clay's 2016 cap # will be around 12 million. don't worry. even w/dareus coming up (1/2)

@hsimon62: as per http://t.co/TfHg2CvTtL, #Bills top 51 contracts in 2016 take up $109 million in space. some are projecting 2016 cap to be around 160m

@hsimon62: Bills would have room to cover Dareus and Gilmore. Bills have till May 3rd to exercise a 2016 option on Gilmore which would cost 10M plus

@hsimon62: they haven't touched mario williams contract yet and he has cap # of 19m plus. they can re-structure to clear more room if they want

@hsimon62: great to have filthy rich owners who will spend whatever it takes including bonus money that lowers cap #'s to sign/keep key players

Can't they just restructure those deals?

The option is a 1 year team option on the rookie deal. They'd have to sign him long term. The trouble with that being a high signing bonus to make sure it's a lie cap hit would take real commitment (not the year-to-year easy to cut contract mid tier guys are getting).

Suh not only can, but it'd be SHOCKING if all haven't already agreed to it.

In the end, outside of immediate cash flow flexibility- most teams are on pretty equal ground. If we spend 200m cash this year we simply can't spend as much the next few. Id guess a wide majority can sign the checks we are - including ralph

That seems like a lot for a tight end. But then again, we haven't had a really good TE since.......Remiersma? Nope. Metzelaars? Not really. Tony Hunter? Didn't stick around. Keith McKellars? Biggest contribution was his initial for the K Gun.

Over 50 years and we're getting the best guy at this position we've ever had, unless I just can't remember who else might have been better.

So, this off-season thing....apparently it can be a pretty good time, eh? Doug Marrone walked away from this?

Marone walked away from this. Makes it that much sweeter doesn't it? And we get to do this with a guy who's easy to like in Rex as opposed to the jerk personality of Marone. Thanks again Doug.

Thinking of Marrone's regret is the icing on the cake.
