One of these things is easier to "fix" than the other There both white? We should be comparing Matt moore to Josh McCown. That's more of the same league. In the little time Moore has played he already has had a few season ending injuries. Smith is a much smarter game manager (if that's what you want out of Moore) who is accurate and doesn't throw interceptions. Moore has close to a 50/50 TD/INT rate. As the individual pointed out above the sample size is so small as well it is impossible to predict but it points to him not being a very good QB. Matt Moore is not as talented but has been a competent backup. There "2 minute" offense consist of 9 handoffs to Charles- there was discussion of cutting Smith prior to the March date of his new contract kicking in. The back up Chase Daniels has done a nice impression of Smith when given the chance to play but he's a back up making 4.8 million so if they stick with Alex Chase will be cut loose (ha). Murray is there 3rd stringer for now. Bottom line is Smith is really no better than 90% of the free agents currently available IF you have the good defense, good oline and a power running game he can be affective. It's the ingredients a lot of teams play on - you will beat the bad teams and most of the teams your better than gets you to 9-7 if the schedule smiles on you 10-6 playoffs are usually possible but it's a one and out. I've long opined that Matt Moore has been the best Dolphins QB since he's been there. I consider Alex Smith to be better than Moore, but simply because he's had the chance to prove it. Fixxxer Posted February 17, 2015 Share Posted February 17, 2015 I think they're different in style of play, Smith is a more a like a game manager, he takes care of the ball and he's a great athlete, hence you can design some plays to hurt teams with his legs. He's not a great intermediate passer, so his game is based on short passes, misdirection and lots of YAC. Moore is more like a gunslinger, his play is more vertical than Smith's but I don't know if he can be the guy for 16 games. There's no much data to form an opinion. Would he be a great back-up?
