There is a 53 man roster for NFL teams. Marrone seem to put a limitation of about 40 on himself by alienating 12 and needing a kickoff specialist. Goodwin has had injury concerns since his rookie season. How many times did he get hurt last year? Why is this now an indictment on the coaching staff? You do realize Goodwin himself has been limiting the roster as well? You're championing for a guy who has the same effect that causes you to blast Marrone. When there have been 437 things pointed out about how Marrone is doing things wrong, each of them holds the possibility that it is the other person's fault. Like EJ, the ref, Stevie, Urbik, Whaley, Williams, Orton, and on and on and on. The odds are though that something has to stick on Marrone. As for your direct question: He is not hurt now. He is a weapon. He is not being used by a team desperately in need of weapons. How is that an indictment of Goodwin? Marrone is simply not an NFL caliber coach. At all. I wish he were but he isn't. People have been gaining more and more frustration with Marrone for his personnel decisions and game day active decisions. This is a little one but another in a perceived endless series. So it's a legitimate example of an indictment of the coaching staff. I'm torn on Marrone. Like all coaches, fans are either in favor, want him gone, or are on the fence/ask me at the end of the season. I like a lot of things about him but there are a few I don't like very much at all. This issue is one of three major problems I have with him myself. The other two being offensive philosophy and in game decisions. But this is a big one for me, deciding who dresses and who doesn't when players are healthy. I think it's a big part of coaching and a very big question mark for Marrone. If anything he has been under utilized and stagnant even though he had his best game last week. Hogan went from being underrated to being decent to being pretty good to being overrated. But it's speculation at best, and I won't formulate my opinion based on things that I have virtually no idea about outside of a few ESPN snippets. Woods was good when he got here. TY Hilton is one of the best receivers in the league and he's the same size. 5 pounds more and what, Wes Welker isn't a small guy? And again, his problem has been more of the pulled hamstring issue. I'll give you Steve Smith, because he is built very strong. I have used that same argument with Russell Wilson. He's short but he's extremely well built and strong. But TY Hilton and Welker and Edelman are small and withstand the punishment. Goodwin is built well, too. He doesn't look frail at all. And the injuries he has got have not been from big hits, except to the noggin. Welker doesn't help your argument since he's injured more than any of those players. He can't finish a season either without having 3 concussions. Edleman is no different. I don't follow Hilton but I will hold back from anointing him the next great WR I'm this league. That doesn't argue the point that Goodwin is a waste of a roster spot becaise he can't be counted on for anything. He gets injured walking onto the field. Wide receivers are more protected than ever today. Welker has been incredibly durable given his volume of catches over the middle. It's just an odd spot for you to make the point. I get what your arguing with Goodwin not proving to be durable and don't disagree that he needs to prove that....
