It's not nearly as rich as you think. It's three deep for top tier, and drops off pretty quickly after that.
Meh...not from what most are saying...

Trade down, Beane, if you know what you're doing
None of those draft classes had the ridiculous riches at the WR position that this one does tho.
Every draft is different. Can't really just compare them on their face.

Those look like some beer league rugby uniforms 🤣

This is not "what's going to happen", just your best guess.
Anyone who definitively thinks they know what's going to happen is only fooling themselves.

Makes zero sense to me. Can't believe the Pegula's have money issues.
Doubt they do...his net worth has increased 3 BILLION in the time he has owned the team.

That one against the Jets last year was so obvious. The call was ticky-tack and the INT was game-clinching for the Jets. I don't think that it's conspiracy. I think that the refs are just in awe of his greatness and subconsciously help him out. NBA stars benefit from this all the time.
The one in the Raiders game was pretty bad as well...still ended up losing tho and he already had thrown a pick 6 earlier.

Some of that is Mahomes seeing the penalty and then making a very risky play because he knows it's coming back. Brady was the master of throwing balls to get DPIs and Mahomes has taken up that mantle. Others are refs bailing him out.
I've watched plenty that are not of the Offside variety

This is crazy!
Wonder what the narrative would look like if even half of them haven't.

Did you listen to the full interview? Based on your comments it doesn’t sound like it because if you did you would know he didn’t discuss anything that gives away, or even suggests, their strategy and plans. Nothing about that his interview was strategic in that type of nature.Ever watch SwordFish? What does Travolta's character say about how Houdini was able to captivate audiences without them being able to ever detect anything as to how he was able to do his tricks?
Misdirection.

I mean to me it sounds like he's talking about Khalil Shakir. I know thats not the greatest example but I think they are expecting huge things out of him. My next best guess would be Justin Shorter since Shorter didn't play at all last year much like Bernard in his rookie season and then broke out year 2.
I'm expecting big things out of Shakir also...and the advanced metrics strongly back that up.

I do not think Beane is even thinking about moving into the top 10 to get one of the big 3 WR.
- He said he would take any call, but he also said teams in the top 10 don't generally call teams down at 28.
- When asked about him calling them, he mocked them even wanting to take his call and made it clear he hasn't called them.
- Worth noting as well, Bills have no reported visits or meetings with MHJ, Nabers, or Odunze. We did reportedly meet once with Thomas.
- He is not a fan at all of moving a future first, which I will cover in comments below.
-
I think he made it pretty clear as well that we are not going to be trading for a proven guy such as Aiyuk or Higgins as many have been wanting.
- Specifically said when we traded for Stef, Allen was an ascending player and the offense needed a guy like that.
- But that now with Allen ascended to the player he is, that is not a requirement and not necessary.
- He made it clear he is very comfortable making a small trade up to make sure he can get the guy he covets. So if there is one he wants where a small move up to go get him is on the table, I think he will pull that trigger.
-
He also made it very clear he really does NOT want to move next years 1st, but did admit he would if the deal made sense to do it.
- Referenced regretting those kind of moves in the next draft when they did them in Carolina when the next draft came and the guy they gave up that first didn't really get them over the top.
- He also doesn't plan to move the 2nd we got for Diggs, but wouldn't rule it out if they felt the right deal was there.
- Between Josh, McD and Beane interviews, I think it was pretty clear they have a lot of confidence in the core of Samuel, Shakir, Kincaid, Knox, and Cook. It is clear we are going after a WR in first 2 rounds, but I would not expect us to go back to back WR or take 2 early as some around here have suggested. If we take a 2nd one, I would expect it later like rounds 4 and on.
- Beane made it clear that trading back is very much in play at 28 and pointed out if they couldn't get Kincaid they had a real good trade back worked out he really liked.
-
Also added he would love to add someone on the DL that can contribute this season.
- While he said it could be in the first, would have to see what is there at 28 in general, but went on to say he sees guys outside the first in this draft that can come in and contribute this year.
So what I came away with is that I think there is very little chance we are making a move to get MHJ, Nabers, or Odunze. It was also clear it was just as unlikely we are going after someone like Aiyuk, Higgins, etc either. And that has been my belief all along as well.
While I wouldn't say that anything he said rules out moving up into the teens to get Thomas (like say Jags at 17), I think it's a low possibility he goes up outside the 20's. The thing that most often stuck out was the reluctance on using high future picks to move up. I think Beane really likes the idea of having a first and two 2nd's next year and really prefers not trading them. And I do think that trading back is a very strong possibility for us to try and get a 3rd this year or maybe even a third 2nd for next year.
All in all this was a good listen...and Beane has a track record for being pretty straight forward and candid on these things, so I think he is shooting pretty straight with his comments like he always has.
Believing anything anyone says at this time of year is a fools errand. If they are talking about the draft at this time of the year, they are lying or at best telling half-truths or statements with a glimmer of truth. Count on it.

Was omw home from work, listening to WFAN and they were playing Joe Schoens live media scrum.
Couldn't listen to whole thing but one statement really stood out for the whole draft and every team.
He stated there was either 140 or 170 (can't remember exact #) players they had a draftable grade on, that are staying in school this year, majority because the NIL deals and ability to make $$, in his opinion
So this is the bad side to the NIL deals. Going to make GMs lives that much more difficult, especially on day 3, where Beane has been stellar.
Just wanted to drop this nugget, as it kinda changes the whole landscape of the draft especially hearing it straight from a GM.
It'll only get worse as years go on imo...
Yup, I talked about this exact same thing a few months ago...how fewer and fewer underclassmen are declaring for the drafts now due to this.

Elam isn't a failed first rounder. Most of the time when he plays, he plays pretty well. He has had some key INT's in big games for us at big times and in the endzone. Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year for example.
For some reason, McD is unwilling to let him play and learn. Injuries have played a part in it, but I don't really understand how almost everytime he is pressed into duty(other than the Jags game where his ankle was basically unable to function properly) and he makes plays that you keep taking him out.
He hasn't been given the opportunity really, and maybe he hasn't earned it in training camp or practice or preseason or whatever. But Goddamn, how many big plays does he have to make IN REAL LIVE GAMES THAT MATTER before you give him a chance? Does McD have some secret agenda where he simply dislikes him to the point he will only play him if forced to?

That's basically the Diggs contract with maybe a few million more dollars guaranteed. So, no?
-
MLB was a question too last year, but it was answered pretty emphatically 2 games into the season. I wouldn't worry too much.
-
I guess being named Josh Allen in the NFL really pays...
combined contracts worth nearly $400 million and $226 million guaranteed.

Neck injuries are scary though, especially if it's true that you can see him already compensating for it on film. I've seen people compare him to Jaelan Phillips but it is more comparable to Myles Jack who became washed up very quickly. If he slides all the way to #60 I would be good with that.
Ask Vander Esch from the Cowboys who just retired after injured much of his time in the NFL about neck injuries and how they can derail your career...

I'm not interested in that at all. If they trade up it should be for one of the top 3. BTJ is a 1 year wonder who runs the Gabe Davis route tree. People are hoping he can eventually be a Gabe Davis or Tee Higgins but you shouldn't be trading up for a #2 guy imo
Except he has blazing 4.3 speed instead of 4.55 speed.

Considering he did a private workout for the Bills I wouldn't be too worried about his combine numbers if the Bills drafted him.
I wouldn't be happy with him at 28 either though. I've said this a few times, but I like the idea of taking best receiver available at 28 (AD Mitchell or BJT if we're lucky, etc...) and then moving up a little in the second and getting McConkey / Franklin / Polk.
Speculation is BTJ will be going in the teens and the Bills will need to move up to get him.
-
wow...guess he will be judged by the ultimate judger now. And I doubt the "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit" line with the glove will help him this time.

Joe Brady fed into the narrative that Buffalo was dead last year when he took over. He wore the “Buffalo vs Everybody “ sweatshirt almost everyday.
I think we are better as an underdog. We’re an underdog city. It’ll be easy for McDermott and his staff to motivate this team.
That's true...the team always seemed to play better when it's backs were against the wall and everyone was doubting them and saying they were done. Anytime they were anointed as front-runners it seemed to get to their heads and they played with too much reckless abandon rather than focus.

I've had a quick look at who were my top guys available to the Bills at their first pick of the draft since I've been doing it (based on where they actually picked, of course some years they could have considered trade ups) and I did bang the table for a few of these guys at the time.... Evans, Higgins and Marshall in particular.
2021 - Terrace Marshall (was my WR4 top 3 had gone before the Bills picked)
2020 - Tee Higgins (was my WR4 top 3 had gone before the Bills picked)
2019 - AJ Brown (was my WR1)
2018 - Calvin Ridley (was my WR1 but the guy I liked for the Bills was my WR2 Courtland Sutton)
2017 - Chris Godwin (was my WR4 but the guy I liked for the Bills was my WR5.... a fella called Zay Jones)
2016 - Laquon Treadwell (was my WR1 but that was a bad receiver class I didn't have any first round grades at the position and was anti-selecting one)
2015 - Tyler Lockett (was my WR6 top 5 had gone before the Bills picked because we had no first round pick)
2014 - Mike Evans (was my WR1 and the guy I banged the table for)
If the Bills would have taken any of those 3 outside Marshall and Treadwell, they would have been absolutely loaded at WR

Terrible combine unless you believe that he was sick. Reminds me of the bad singers on American Idol that say their throat hurts. Also seems to go down really easily. I don't think he's worth 28. He'd be good value at 60 but unlikely to be there.
Anyone putting more stock in the combine versus what they watched on tape in actual games should not be drafting players.

Now do 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds
Calvin Ridley is not a ++ player? The man put up almost 1400 yards one season? 1000 yards last year...he is a very good receiver
