I think when you're a team like the Bills picking late year after year you have to be willing to take advantage of opportunities like this, where say the 40th ranked player on your board is available at pick 60 because of one really stupid mistake. Obviously you have to do a deep dive into the person and make sure it is in fact just one mistake, not part of a larger pattern.

Who knows, maybe he even drops all the way to day three. He isn't an elite prospect. Some teams might drop him off their board entirely and decide the risk isn't worth the player. I personally would not go that far unless I uncovered a pattern of behavior.

I read he told teams at the combine he was going to leave his partying days in the past. Can you trust a guy like that? Maybe you take a late round flyer or UDFA, but hes probably a 1st round target for philly now

Maddy Glab vindicated.  Basically all the hot mic caught was Maddy saying Diggs was difficult to work with.

Rex Ryan was in vacation mode when he coached the Bills, so I doubt it would have worked out for the better. The real question is -- how different would the last couple years have gone if the Bills replaced McDermott with Daboll after 13 seconds?

Yup. Remember when Rex was at a baseball game in Cleveland on a Thursday night instead of preparing for a game? But he “left early” so he had time to get ready

His teams were loaded with talent and had a huge coaching staff but were constantly unprepared and it showed. Rex would have stuck with Tyrod for a few more years, hanging his head on having a top rushing attack with an aging McCoy all while his defense got shredded by Brady and Co for a few more embarrassing losses

You assume they take a step back - I do not see it that way - Diggs was a non factor in the second half of the season.  The Bills have the opportunity to upgrade and move on.

He had 4 games under 30 yards receiving. That can be replaced

The WR room is going to be completely different. Wow.

I'm a fan of that. This team needs new blood in lots of places

I'm curious to see what this does for our cap situation. If we take on a massive dead cap hit then I'm not a fan.

Our WR room is utterly horrendous right now.

Luckily we don't plan a game next weekend. Plenty of time to get that sorted out

I'm starting to think Michael Bidwill is the next NFL franchise ex-owner. Also the first owner to be successfully sued by an ex-employee. It is quite eye-opening just what level of human trash we are dealing with here among the owners.

So Bidwell sells the Cards for 8 billion? Commanders just went for 6. I'm sure that will teach him!

I get your point - but not a chance. Without Allen we would be a 3 win team, maybe. Just like most NFL teams.

I'm not so sure. We have had top defenses for years. It wouldn't be pretty, but McDermott has won plenty of games with less than superb QB play

So Josh Allen is worth 2 wins compared to Kyle Allen?

Of course not, I think McDermott is a good coach tho and can win in a variety of ways. I also think Andy Reid would win 9

games with someone like Blaine Gabbert. Both are good coaches who happen to have elite talents at QB

I agree to a point. Highlighted above: If we lost Josh last season on opening day our season would have been even messier than it was. Not many teams in teh NFL can overcome that. Anyway, we will see. Exciting games coming this season that's for sure!

Sure, but McDermott would have had this team competing hard each week even with Kyle Allen. I wouldn't be surprised to see this as a fringe playoff team without Allen. McDermott is basically Mike Tomlin, they will both not accept a losing season. Bills won 6 games in 2018, starting 4 different QBs (Peterman, Allen, Anderson and Bakley) and one of the worst rosters in football.

With a better roster now, even without Allen, I could see McDermott winning 9 ugly ugly games

It’s funny, because Josh is hands down better than Burrow in the playoffs… likes it’s not even close.

Josh has some of the best playoff numbers in the history of the NFL. The criticism of Josh is absurd

My wife is a bears fan. I’m not sure how fields got his halo but people seem to think he’s good. I never saw it. The dude is a career backup at best imo.

Some of you may remember my quest to watch every game this year. I didn’t watch every game, Carolina was particularly difficult to watch, but I did watch every bears game because of Fields.

The fact there was a “debate” of whether or not to keep him was absurd. He has some of the worst field awareness in the NFL. He fumbled like Peterman threw picks (ironically Peterman was one of his backups) Everyone like to point out that he’s a great athlete, and he is. Probably one of the better athletes at the position. But Josh, Mahomes, Burrow hell even Tua are good enough athletes to play QB. At the end of the day, you have to be able to move the ball through the air and Fields isn’t even close to effective consistently to be a good QB. It’s why he was traded for a conditional 6th. The league sees it too
