    Yikes face of the franchise

Holy crap.  If that really did come from Lamar, that's shocking to say the least.

First off, you're an NFL quarterback.  You're watched every day by millions upon millions of people.  Fans are gonna be fans and often times say crazy things.  But that wasn't even that big of a deal!  I'm thinking someone just caught him on a bad day or something.....if he got that upset over that trivial comment, I'd hate to see his reply to something seriously mean or personal or spiteful......jeez

Judon will certainly be on a mission next week.  Aside from the whole Pats team in general, I’m remembering at least a few times last year that Josh either made Judon look silly and/or really got to him during our matchups.  Crossing the fingers that Josh can keep it rolling, although this will not be an easy task.

He sure did.  I have no doubt the Pats are gonna be fired up... I'll be honest,  I didn't expect them to be 6-5 at this point in the season.  As much as I hate them, Belichick has them overachieving, and Thursday's game is gonna be a dogfight, at least in my opinion.  We just have too many injuries right now to blow teams out.  Maybe I'm being overdramatic, but I also feel like Belichick has been waiting to face us ever since we humiliated his Pats last year....TWICE.  I mean we didn't just beat them, we straight up eviscerated them, in front of the entire country.  Both the team AND Josh Allen set all kinds of records in those games, and Belichick's ego took a major humbling.

Remember back in 2003, Buffalo played the Patriots, and spanked them 31-0?  It was the year the Pats cut Lawyer Milloy, and he signed with the Bills....even recorded a sack...well go figure, in the second meeting that year, the Pats beat us....and what was the score?  31-0.  You think that was coincidence?   I don't.

  3. Another week, and what I anticipate to be another dogfight we'll be in.  Not that New England needs any extra motivation to play us, seeing how we whipped the dog s**t out of them the last two times we played, but I'm sure they're ticked about losing to Minnesota yesterday.

Here's to hoping a semi normal week of practice, a few days rest, and possibly getting a few players back helps us bring our A game Thursday.  Division rival, primetime game...

    A few notes:

Hopefully they up Tre's pitch count, and it's him and Elam as our 1 and 2.  Jackson has been getting abused lately, and so has Benford.  Perhaps coming off the bench will give them a little motivation.

I'm hoping I don't get roasted for saying this, but I'm sorry, I don't think Bass deserved a turkey leg yesterday.  He didn't just miss an extra point, he missed it at the absolute worst time IMO.  And his game winner?  He barely snuck that ball past the left upright.  It was a 46 yarder, that's what he's supposed to do.  I'm not trying to nitpick I promise, but in my opinion Ed Oliver should've easily gotten a turkey leg over Bass yesterday.  The guy was a flat out monster, and came through for us on a day where our D line was missing both starting DEs.

Finally, New England's Matt Judon quietly leads the league in sacks, with 13.  Let's hope our O-line can protect Josh so he can sling the rock....

Sure would be nice to be 9-3 come Thursday night!  Let's go Buffalo!

  4. Seeing him walking off the field at the end of the game, when he threw that fan his baseball cap was definitely at least a little bit encouraging.  Sometimes a player's body language (post game) can offer a little bit of insight as to the significance of the injury.  Here's to hoping he'll be back quickly.

HOWEVER, If Von's body language today is an indicator, he's probably done til the playoffs......of 2027...

Just watched a replay of the game winning FG...

Phew... just snuck inside the post...

If Josh doesnt pick up that extra 10 yards after the Diggs catch its a miss...

A-freakin-men, and that is a huge point you bring up.  Thank God Josh was able to gain those extra ten yards because like you said, add those ten extra and it's wide left by a significant amount.....and I am NOT among those who thought missing the extra point helped us out.  At the time Bass missed that extra point, I was shouting obscenities that would've made Andrew Dice Clay uncomfortable.

You have no idea how happy I am to come away with a victory today.  It makes watching all the other games so much more enjoyable, makes my work week so much more enjoyable.  Plus it helps my marriage, because when the Bills lose, I am one sulky, pouty, two-year old girl acting SOB, and noone wants to be around me 😂

This may be me reaching a little bit, but I was so happy for Josh and to see him so emotionally hype, with the big yell after the kick, and hugging Diggs on the sideline.  These last couple weeks he has in no way resembled his normal self, so to get this win I imagine he was able to breathe a sigh of relief.  In a way I feel like he was able to exorcise the "13 second" demons.  Perhaps now he begins to pick up the pieces and put his MVP campaign back in full swing.

  6. We live and die with Josh Allen, and there isn't a quarterback on the planet I'd rather have than # 17.

It's a wonderful feeling knowing that when we need a game winning drive, doesn't matter who we're playing, that we ALWAYS have a chance with him under center.

  7. Cook definitely has that explosiveness we all have seen and talked about, and I have high hopes that one day he becomes our featured back, but I agree with you that right now Singletary NEEDS to be the guy.  As much as I campaigned to give Cook more opportunities, he needs more time to develop and learn the offense, as well as work on his blocking as well as ball security, etc.  That drop today was rough, and he didnt help his cause doing it right in front of McD.  Also, with all of the injuries we've had to endure, my guess is every game here on out is gonna be a dogfight, and we no longer have the luxury of experimenting with anyone.

All Singletary has been is consistent, and even though he doesn't have the speed that Cook does, he is running the ball very well right now IMO.  He has good burst through the line, and like others have mentioned, the more touches he gets throughout the game, the better he performs.  Unfortunately, because we've been in so many close games lately, we haven't had the luxury of sticking with the run a whole lot.

I am sort of stressed about this game. Lions on a 3-game winning streak. They have very close losses to Vikings and Dolphins. Seems like they are scrappy. We are going to have to play with some fire.

I'm with you 100%.  I don't want to sound like a negative Nancy, I'm just really really paranoid about today.  I'm praying for a Bills victory, and God knows we need it bad....I have to say I'm really shocked at how competitive the AFC has been this year.  No way I would've believed that by week 11 every team in our division would have a winning record.

Hopefully with the Lions both starting guards out plus their number one CB, we can take advantage....If they're gonna double Stef, today would be an awesome day for Gabe to have a redemption game and get 135 + 2 TDs....and to see Cook continue to get more touches.... he's ready to break a big one any game now, I feel it.

On a positive note, the last game I was this anxious/worried was the Pittsburgh game...

  9. Gosh, I hate to be that guy.... overly critical when everyone else is being light-hearted and congratulatory but....

I'm gonna have to give it an 8.8.  Your feet weren't correctly spaced apart on the initial jump, I'm gonna have to subtract .10 for failing to fully tuck, and another .10 for lack of crispness on your form upon entry into the snow.  The jump was reckless, and lacked discipline.

    😁

All jokes aside, great stuff man, way to represent!!!  Let's go Buffalo!!!

My main critique of Dorsey so far is that he doesn't seem to know how to get the most out of the Bills' complementary pieces.

With Daboll, I felt like he used every single tool in the tool chest. He had plays for Diggs, plays for Beasley, plays for McKenzie...we even had third string tight ends and swing tackles catching touchdowns.

With Dorsey...I don't get that feeling.

My concern started with the lack of usage of James Cook in the passing game. Rookie or not, he was brought in to be an explosive addition as a pass catcher. Even now that he's finally starting to get some usage, it looks like he just runs the same plays as Singletary. The lack of creativity in the usage of Cook, which has now extended to the lack of creativity so far in the usage of Hines, is confounding.

In Cook, Hines, and McKenzie, the Bills have quite a bit of speed and explosiveness. For an offense that has lacked punch the past several weeks, speed and explosiveness seem like much needed commodities. And yet, week after week, I don't see many/any manufactured touches for these guys. It's not rocket surgery. As others have said, the McDaniels and Shanahans and Reids of the world don't seem to have an issue getting the ball into the fast guys' hands.

I'll give Dorsey credit for one thing that he's better at than Daboll, seemingly: Getting the ball to Stefon Diggs no matter what the defense is doing. Too often under Daboll, Diggs would all but disappear for whole games. That doesn't seem to happen any more. The way that Diggs is moved around the formation and seems all but immune to being erased now is awesome. It's the usage of the REST of the offensive skill weapons that has been lacking.

Unbelievably well said.  I can't for the life of me figure out why sometimes it just seems like Dorsey either refuses or just plumb forgets that he has three sub 4.3 - 4.4 chess pieces at his disposal.  For all the maddening things McKenzie does, his speed is flat out undeniable.  He, Cook AND Hines all have that extra gear that Dorsey should be able to utilize more. I know it's not as simple as I make it out to be, but there's got to be a way to dial up at least two to three plays a game for each of them....not only would it keep defenses honest to a certain degree but it would also take even more of the pressure off Josh.  Detroit's D is bottom of the league in pretty much all categories, IMO this would be the game to unleash them....

  11. Considering our RB's are currently playing as well as they have been all year, and are both trending upwards....Singletary is proving to be a model of consistency.  He is rarely going down on first contact and is turning what should've been a 2 yard loss into a 4 yard gain.  He got his first two TDs of the season last week and apparently likes the taste.   Cook, after a less than impressive first couple games of the season, is an entirely different player altogether per coach McDermott.  The kid is improving on a week to week, heck sometimes quarter to quarter basis.  His decision-making has improved, he's hitting the holes with authority, and the hesitation and apprehension, nearly gone.  One cut and GONE.  And the speed we all got sightings of,  ooh wee.  The kid most certainly has an extra gear, the kind of gear we all salivate over, that home run button.  Like I said in another topic, it's just a matter of time before the regular season that IMO Cook WILL be our starting RB.  And I haven't even thrown Hines into the equation, who just so happens to be as fast as Cook, if not faster.  We haven't really utilized him a ton catching passes out of the backfield or on screens JUST YET, but I have confidence Dorsey will find a way to get him the ball.  And to add the cherry, I think we just may have finally found the long term answer to our PR/KR situation.  After only a couple short weeks, Hines is 6th in the NFL in kick return average at 25.3 ypg, and 8th in the NFL at 11.2 ypg.

In short, I say bring him in for a visit!  Git r done Beane!

"not much is going to change even when they get some of these other injured players back at some point."

I liked much of your post, but the above statement, I respectfully disagree with.

We have played damn near the entire season with a huge portion of the defense missing, and on more than one occasion the entire starting secondary out.  I'm sorry but that is simply too much to ask of any team.  The fact that we are 7-3 is IMO nothing short of a miracle.   I do agree with you in that we've stopped getting pressure again with our front four which was a huge issue last season and the reason Beane added Settle, Jones, Lawson, and Phillips.  But remember, Oliver, Settle, AND Phillips are all dealing with injuries sustained at some point this season and none of them are really at 100%....couple that with the fact Rousseau's absence has been grossly underestimated...the guy was playing monster football this year, both in pass rushing (2nd on the team in sacks) and he has proven to be a hell of a run defender....

IF we get all our starters back (minus Hyde), and that is a colossally huge IF, everything is going to change.  Everything.

Josh is not Josh.  Hopefully he comes back soon

Josh is most definitely not Josh.  I was happy to see him play a turnover free game, but it's pretty obvious he's dealing with something.  I'm hoping it's his elbow, and that he's able to work through it.  It was so weird reading in one of today's articles, someone referred to his performance as "a proficient game-manager".  While true, it was just weird to see him referred to that way.

  14. IMO 10 points is a lot.  Would love to see it happen and not saying it can't, but I think Vegas is underestimating the Lions.  Winners of 3 in a row, and they were quality opponents (Giants, Packers and Bears).  And they only lost to the Dolphins by 4.  Add to that the fact they've lost the last 5 Thanksgiving day matchups, I'm assuming we're gonna get their very best effort.

That win yesterday was crucial for us in so many ways. Cleaned up our run D, Allen played a much smarter, safer game and got some confidence back, our RB's both looked good, but to me the biggest stat yesterday, and maybe the most underrated, ZERO TURNOVERS.  Too many games this year we've had too many self-inflicted wounds.   If we can get a few more players back in the lineup (Edmunds, Elam, Groot maybe), I see no reason we can't come away with a W.  I'd love to see us dominate for a full four quarters, which is really something we haven't been able to do all year, not counting the games that were blowouts and over by the 4th...

No problem, and I agree with you. Today was a huge win for the Bills. I went into the game thinking "I don't care how ugly it is, just get a W" and thankfully they did. Big difference between 7-3 and 6-4.

If Buffalo could somehow get healthy on defense, the sky is still the limit. Best point differential in the league by a good bit even after several bad weeks.

I know this sounds pretty obvious, but 7-3 just looks so much better than 6-4!!  Seriously, if we would've lost today, I might've called in sick tomorrow.  My boss is tiny little elf of a Jets fan, and I don't think I would've been able to bear hearing his mouth for 8 or 9 hours....

Getting healthy......I honestly have forgotten what that looks like.  I was saying in another thread, I can't recall a season, ever, in our team's history that we've had to deal with this many injuries.  I mean the fact that we are 7-3 to me is nothing short of a miracle.  I feel like hoping our team gets healthy, or close to 100%, is more like a pipe dream at this point. And to hear that Morse AND Epenesa were both in walking boots after the game only frustrates me even more.  Fingers crossed it's just for protective measures, but luck hasnt been on our side when it comes to injuries this season.

What an impact Po' had today. This guy is so critical to our defense. I'm think the Bills should find a way to pay him if he's willing to take a shorter term.

Couldn't agree more.  Been saying this since the Baltimore game.  Bottom line is dude is a difference maker in the secondary, and we are far worse without him.  I know one person doesn't singlehandedly win or lose you games, but what is it now, 6-0 when he plays??
