No, sorry, can't agree on that.  It was a catch Davis could have made, but Gardner was fighting with him, Gabe was holding him off, and Gardner had a hold of Davis R arm before the ball got there.  Davis got his hand free and could have made the catch, but it woulda been a tough contested catch.

IOW it's a ball a top-tier clutch WR makes for his QB and his team, but it's no way "just a drop"

    Valid points all.  👍

So, I went over to JetsNation to see what they are saying. Someone started a thread "The Jets will beat the Bills". That's fine they should be excited about their team but check out this comment from a Jets fan. I would like to know what planet he is watching football on because it sure isn't Earth.

    From a Jets fan...

The Jets have better QB, RB, WR, and RT this time and the defense has not changed much since last game so yes they should win! go JETS!

Hey, Mike White has a 300 yard passing game against the Bears!  Can Josh Allen say that this year?

Case closed.  Jets are better at QB.

So are you man. Constant policing.

By the way, listen to the difference in a press conference after a loss, compared to a win.

Then it's chalk full of - Coach, why didn't you use a timeout there, what was the thinking on the 3rd-2, why didn't you take the Field Goal there, Josh what were you seeing on this play?

Then the focus on decision making gets real serious, real quick.

The Bills win, and the media gets 🧡eyes and we ask questions about how it feels to hug each other.

Too bad you don't like my line of thought.

Maybe you enjoy when our OC is asked about how he relaxes after the game, I don't.

    Ask shorter, open ended questions.

Not to cause any extra friction here, as I love everybody, I gotta side with NewEra and jump in on this one.

The reason that the media is so scrutinous after a loss, and ask the precision questions is because it is AFTER THE FACT.  The HC can answers these questions because they don't give the opposition any extra advantage, ammo.  He's still not giving away anything tactically if you listen in.  And yes, while the media is much more sunshine lollipops and rainbows during a winning season is also because they already know not to ask the questions they know they're not going to get an answer to, nor any questions that dare give the opposition any extra advantage whatsoever.

IMO, the Bills should go at Sauce. Not just throwing at him, but running the ball in his direction. Make Sauce make some tackles. I also hope that Josh looks to have some sustained drives during the game. Don't look for the home run shots all the time.

I like what you're saying here.  And let's just point out, last week, Josh was very patient in taking exactly whatever New England gave him.  He has proven that he is willing to do this on more than a few occasions, going back to last year iMO.   Belichick is a master at taking whole dimensions away from teams, and Josh has taken full advantage.

With the weather supposed to be the way it is Sunday, I fully expect Josh to again exhibit that patience, and even play dink and dunk football if the game calls for it.  I also believe the opportunities will still be there to take the big shot too.

I was there. Absolutely brutal. Probably worst weather game I’ve ever been to. I was not properly dressed for the wetness and it was miserable.

The worst weather game I've ever been to was the 2008 Bills/vs Browns Monday night game.   It was my first Monday night game ever, my wife(then girlfriend) and I flew up to Buffalo so she could meet my family for the first time.  I bought 45 yard line seats, 20 rows from the field.  My wife is from New Orleans, so she was having no parts of the game, so I took my younger cousin. We were hyper than I'd ever been.

Prior to going to the game I stopped at Burlington and bought long John shirt and pants.  I had a nice thick jacket, gloves, boots.  On the way up to the stadium I bought several of those hand/feet warmers you put in your gloves and shoes.  We arrived at the pregame festivities around 5:30pm.  It was around 36 degrees.  I was good.  But by the time we got to our seats, I was already feeling it.   I had already cracked three or four sets of the hand warmers, had em in my gloves and boots. throughout the game I literally could not enjoy the game.  It didn't help it was snoozefest, AND we lost on a missed Ryan Lindell FG....but I remember points of that game thinking to myself, "**** it's cold out here!". And, that was the last Bills game I've ever been to past October.

I ask you my fellow Bills fans, am I a wuss?  Or maybe just old?  Or been gone from Buffalo too long?  I HAVE been living in Atlanta/New Orleans since I graduated from college in 01....

Milano would be a huge loss.  It's very noticeable when he is not on the field.  Hoping he can be limited at least tomorrow and maybe still play.  We're really getting down to the wire here and we need all hands on deck for the late season push.

We were without Milano that first Jets game right?

Ok I'm a little confused....Chong Li was the guy Van Damme beat in Bloodsport?

Well what's the female character in the video game Street Fighter?  Wasn't her name Chong Li too?

I think you're correct and I was wrong.  I was under the impression that both Chase and Jefferson had 3-4 inches and also arm length on Diggs, and that made them better on jump balls.  Actually, all the differences are negligible.   40 times were close, too,

He's only an inch or an inch and half taller, and I have longer arms than he has.  Jefferson and Chase.   It sure looks like Jefferson plays bigger, but the numbers don't suggest a major difference.

    I wouldn't trade Diggs's tenacity or leadership.

Amen, neither would I.  Another thing I've noticed, or, not noticed, Diggs hasn't really had alot of jump balls to fight for.  He usually either turns his guy into a statue with his ridiculous footwork, or, leaves him.  One thing I have noticed that kinda sucks is, one several occasions, on deep balls, Diggs has his guy burnt and the ball simply is underthrown, or overthrown.

    3.  Stefon Diggs is great.  Diggs makes himself great with his brains and attitude.  There some receivers out there who are out of this world.  Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase in particular.  They do things that Diggs literally dreams of.

Excellent write-up as always Shaw.  However, I have to disagree with you on one thing.  While I do think that Justin Jefferson is other-worldly, I just don't think I would put him levels above Diggs.  Yes, he is amazing and has done quite a bit in the short amount of time he has been in the league, but Diggs is one freak-of-nature, exceptional WR himself.  IMO, there isn't a better route runner in the league, his footwork is simply X-rated, he is fearless, he makes the tough catches over the middle, battles for the football when he has to, and plays so much bigger than his size.  He is our certified #1 go to guy, yet when we need the first down, defenses still can't shut him down.  Another thing I think that is underrated is his speed.  The guy can still flat out leave DBs in the dust.

I think the comment you made that Jefferson does things Diggs wishes he could do is what I most question.   What does Jefferson do that Diggs can't?  Other than be bigger lol.

Nonetheless, great write up as always.  This is shaping up to be one of the most competitive, exciting years of football in a long time, and I'm looking forward to what it has in store for our Bills.

  10. Who would've ever thought the Cincinnati Bengals would always have a special place in our hearts??

We control our own destiny with five winnable games, in which I'm guessing we'll be favored in with the exception of maybe @Cincinnati.  Guys healing up and getting healthy for the postseason....and wouldn't it be wonderful to get back Von AND perhaps Hyde for the playoffs???

you guys have seen what we can do to teams at 55 - 65%....if/when we get close to full strength.....OMG league watch out....

Gabe does not seem to be getting us much separation since the ankle injury.  Anybody know anything?  Gabe is a gamer, would not surprise me if it is still not right.  I think he could have a nice stretch run with this mini-bye to get healthy.  We need him to relieve more pressure from Diggs, IMHO.

I wouldn't be surprised a bit if the ankle was still bothering him to a degree.  To me, it seems just these last couple of games, last week in particular, that he's looked alot closer to normal, which could also explain why last week against the Pats he looked to be alot more himself.  I'm hoping that that's been the reason for his lackluster play this season.  Like you said, with this little mini-bye, I'm expecting several players to heal up/rest up, and come out with their hair on fire against the Jets.  I am very wary of making predictions during the season, but I have never felt more confident/excited for our next game.

McD has no direct experience of Rhodes in his exact system communicating with his guys.  But I don't think McD wanted to "see what Rhodes can do".  I think the plan was to play 100% nickel, in 100% or near 100% zone coverage, against a strong running team.   I've been putting up the first Christmas decorations and dipping into the whiskey, so my recall is fuzzy, but I would expect them to have disguised coverage a lot as well to slow Mac Jones processing.

Essentially, the Bills wanted to play PhD Zone with a run thumper CB, and Rhodes was a better fit because Elam's zone abilities are "progressing".  Add in, likely they did want to give Elam 2+ weeks rest to put his ankle closer to right, Bonus.

Winner winner chicken dinner, at least in my opinion.  We all know McD is particularly tough on the rookies, and keeps them on a VERY short leash, almost to a point of frustration for me. IMO, as soon as one of the rookies makes a mistake, he's getting yanked.  Not saying this is the case every single time, but I've seen in more than a couple occasions a rook making a mistake/mental error and get pulled darn near immediately and not see the game the rest of the day.  Now I don't know if this is the reason for Elam being a healthy scratch, but it wouldn't be a surprise if it was.  I agree with you 100% that perhaps McD/Frazier wanted to run nickel exclusively, and felt like Rhodes was particularly stronger in run support, AND/OR wanted to give Elam a little extra rest to continue healing up.

I think Elam is going to be just fine. I am more than pleased with the progress he's made this year, love both his attitude AND his work ethic.  It really, really spoke volumes to me when he was benched in favor of Benford to start the regular season.  Being the teams first rounder, also knowing they traded up for him, could've been damaging to his ego/psyche, yet he didn't complain, didn't let it affect his game when he finally did go back in the game.  Matter of fact all he did was play harder with the opportunities he was given.  Loved seeing that from our first round CB.

  13. After reading that article on him wanting close to 20 mil per year, AND anything more than a one year deal, please count me in the "no thank you" group.  Here's my reasoning.

There's still five weeks left in the regular season, plus the playoffs.  Alot can happen in that time.  McKenzie has really started to turn it on lately.  Also, it seems like Gabe is starting to settle down, play better, more consistent football, and win more of Josh's trust.  I think injuries had alot to do with his underwhelming play this year, and I'm thinking he's finally starting to get close to 100%.  I haven't given up on him becoming our undisputed #2 guy.  Even with his inconsistent play this year, he has still shown flashes of being the guy we all envisioned.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I honestly feel like bringing in Beckham at this point could prove to be counterproductive.  And we already know he's not coming here for cheap.  With all the uncertainties surrounding him, I'd much rather stick with what we have than risk giving up an arm and a leg for a guy that we're not even certain is an upgrade over what we have.  And as great of a wizard Beane is with the cap, to get Beckham means ultimately letting someone else walk.  Just my two cents.

Totally agree it was nice seeing our RB's more involved.  I do however think Devin needs and deserves some more touches.  Cook is very promising, but his vision isn't there yet and doesn't play fast enough while also stumbling a lot.  I feel like he often looks lost or in the wrong place on receptions too.

Dont get me wrong, I like Cook and his potential and happy he is more involved.  A lot of this is because he is a rookie and still learning the game.  But he leaves so many yards on the field each week missing holes, missing cut back opportunities, and he goes down so easy.

With Devin, the pile is always finishing forward, he is a tough runner.  His vision and agility get 8-10 yards on plays that Cook gets stuffed on because he just runs right into a pile.  When there is a good hole right in front of Cook, he can rip a nice run no doubt.  But he often misses opportunities for bigger gains because he has not been very shifty and too slow to hit the hole.

I posted in another thread the ratio I would like to see is Devin to be at 15-18 combined touches (running/receiving) and Cook at 10-12.  Not every game may end up with our backs having this many touches amongst the 2 of them, but that kind of ratio between Devin and Cook I think is a good balance.

Fun Fact:  Coming into last nights game, Devin had the 2nd highest catch rate on the team behind only Knox.  Better than Cook, Diggs, Davis, etc.  And this has been true the past 2 seasons.  People don't seem to realize Devin had quite a few receptions last season too.  He has grown as a receiver, he isn't perfect, but he has out performed Cook in this department too.

Very accurate points you bring up with regard to Cook leaving alot of yards on the field.  I am just as happy as the rest of us to see Cook getting more touches, and doing something with them, but you're right, alot of times I notice him falling easily, or even before he's touched sometimes.  His speed is outstanding, and I do believe when he is finally able to put it all together, he's got the chance to be one heckuva back.  He's definitely made some nice progress as the season has gone on.

passes to the flat were brutal last night!   Not just to Singletary either.

Agree.  I hate to nitpick after an awesome victory like last night, but one thing that kinda irks me, and again this is just my two cents, but I feel like we struggle with screen passes, and we struggle to STOP opposing teams screen passes.... I concur with what SCBills said in that I do think we'll start seeing better results with the screens/misdirections/horizontal throws when Dawkins is back in the lineup and closer to 100%, and the timing.... definitely the timing...many times the screen is there for the taking and we just don't seem to execute it properly...and watching Jones take that screen to the house in the first quarter made me quite envious.

Still a solid, workmanlike effort, and if we keep seeing the run game produce the way it has these past few weeks, no reason the W's won't keep piling up.

One more quick note....doesn't it seem like Singletary seems to get better and better as the regular season winds down?  I mean last year, he played well, but the last few weeks of the regular season and the playoffs, he seemed to take his game to another level.  I'm feeling like this is what I'm seeing this year as well.

  16. I know I have been one of many on here clamoring for Cook to get more touches, in hopes of one day being our featured back, but I gotta say last night I was thoroughly impressed with how both Cook and Singletary performed.  IMO, they made one heckuva one-two punch, and at least to me, for the first time last night I felt like their running styles complimented one another to perfection.  Credit to Dorsey for calling a great game, and sticking with the run the entire evening.  I know that alot of it had to do with the fact that we were up double digits, and was simply trying to eat up the clock, but NE's defense simply had no ability to shut down our running game.  Loved seeing the balance in carries as well. Cook finished with 14 carries, 64 yards with a 4.6 ypc average.  He also had 6 catches(on 6 targets) for an additional 41 yards.  Singletary finished with 13 carries for 51 yards.  Both guys ran hard, ran smart, and held on to the football.

A solid, efficient all-around effort by both, and I love seeing them be this efficient running the ball because that's less pressure on 17 having to run as much.  Hope I'm not reaching when I say watching Cook and Singletary last night brought back fond memories of seeing Thomas and Davis in the backfield....Thunder and Lightning anyone?

Incredibly pumped for the Jets game next week.  Let's go Buffalo!

"Football move" is missing, therefor you need to mantain controll of the ball when hitting the ground. Ball can´t move. As he was out of bounds when he finally has controll of the ball after he hit the groud it is an incompletion.

Got it.  So what you're saying is, had he been in bounds when he landed, even though the ball moved, as long as it never touched the ground, it would have been an INT?

  18. Here's my thing.....first of all, this was a potential TD catch.  The Bills are trying to keep the Patriots out of the end zone, and IMO Hamlin was simply trying to prevent that the best(and probably only) way he knew how.  He DIDN'T lead with his helmet.  Yes, his shoulder did make contact with the receivers head, but he also ducked into the hit.  This is a guy going full speed.  To ask him to slow it down is just pure ludicrous.  Also, Hamlin has never been labeled a dirty player. Yes, he is a physical player, but that's one of his best attributes.  It's plays like that that are watering down the authenticity of the game if you ask me.  Personally, I don't think the hit warranted a flag, BUT, I can see why it was thrown. However, disqualifying him was flat out WRONG.  Again, I go back to the point that this was a potential touchdown catch, FFS you're supposed to separate the receiver from the football.

I could not agree more. Think of it another way. When a receiver catches a ball in bounds and does NOT hit the ground, but instead releases it because he is now off the field of play, is it not a catch?  Of course it is. That was a really dumb call. The league needs to change that.

I felt the exact same way. Where my confusion lies is, like you said, Poyer makes the interception(✔️), makes sure to get that second foot well in bounds(✔️), as he's making sure to get both feet in bounds, he clearly has full possession of the football, it is secure and not moving(✔️)...and even after he hits the ground, the ball never makes contact with the ground!  Yes it moves, but he is clearly underneath it, and it in no way ever hits the turf.   I thought that was indisputable evidence.

I agree, I didn't think he led with his helmet, iMO it looked like he got him with the shoulder....I know it's been said many times, but these guys are running full speed towards someone trying to do whatever they can to break up that pass...to ask them to pull up AND make sure their form is perfect is just unfair.

I will even go as far as to say I can live with the flag, but to disqualify him was just plain wrong.

Solid, solid freakin win, road win AND division win, now with extra rest time to heal up.  Let me go ahead and say this now, come Sunday, December 11th, the Buffalo Bills, the 12th man, Orchard Park, and Highmark Stadium is going to be a PLACE OF NIGHTMARES for the New Jersey Jets!
