I don't see any cuts, but who knows. Josh and Dawkins restructures gets us about 29 mill in cap room.  That's  20 mill to start FA, which is more than enough.

I'm gonna go ahead and kick the hornets nest ( because I only have 1 cup of coffee so far...) and say... 20 mill allows us to trade ..... Diggs 😁

Yeah that’s not happening nor should it

I’d expect contract restructurings for Allen, and prob Dawkins and Taron Johnson

Owen rule out something being done about Dawson Knox’s contract

All these cold responses I think are missing the point.

I expected all of these moves, I felt they all needed to happen, so no surprise here from me and no disagreement with any of the moves.  But that that still doesn't mean its not sad to see the door close on their careers here, especially given how important they were to the team and locker room.

So I don't know...maybe save the harsh "good" to see them go comments for another thread.  Cuz I think the sentiment here is that while its the right move, its a bit of a bummer these guys time in Buffalo is done overall as they were huge parts of the team and community for long periods of time.  Talking about several fan favorites too.

I don't really see the point to celebrate or mock their departure...myself, I find myself just appreciating their time here and wishing them well where ever they go or do next.

Given everything that they have done I would’ve liked to have seen them get rings with the team

Happy?  While I appreciate the effort and time of the players that got cut yesterday, the moves were needed.  IMHO the moves were done a year late.

Too old, slowing down, injuries and big bloated contracts.  It had to be done.  And if you read my post, I think most moves to have cap room will be contract moves not cuts, but a cut or 2 won't surprise me.

Who else do you think is going to be cut from the team?

  4. I honestly don’t think that it’s set in stone that McGovern will get that center spot

There are some centers in this draft that look pretty good

And with all that said there a REALLY good chance Tre White is sitting there in June looking for a deal still.

could be a very good calculated risk. With how long his knee took I could very well see him not ready until mid season.

It would be nice if there was a circumstance where that could come true

I think so much of the guy

To be fair, he's had some luck at getting above average play out of journeymen, but the team has been juggling that for a while trying to keep a Super Bowl window open.

I'll never rule out the Bills having a shot so long as they have Josh Allen but this is the most picks we've had going into a draft in...a while. 11, at the moment I think. I expect Beane to trade up a bit, but that should give us more then we've been used to.

They’re not gonna draft 11 players he’s going to use some of those pics to trade up into higher rounds

Even with the players that we lost yesterday we wouldn’t be able to give a jersey to 11 new guys in the draft. There is too much talent on this team still

I think Rapp helps and I am sure that money is much lower. I'll wait and see what they do at the other spot. On the surface, he seems like a box safety, but he played a bunch in the Hyde high safety role and he looked pretty good doing it. Rapp just needs to learn to wrap!

Actually, the pretty good tackler for a safety just needs to rain in the knockout hits that’s taking out his own players

Nice, aggressive player, but McD ABSOLUTELY needs to reign in the stupid hits.

    On the fence with Rapp.

I never worry about secondary play, whenever it comes to a McDermott defense

Agree. I still hope they take a WR at 28 but you know how McDermott and Beane love to build around the defense. Although Beane did take Kincaid in the first-round last year so maybe their philosophy is changing.

We have 11 pics in this draft there are going to be some guys in the high second they can fill the bill at wide receiver if they decide to go defensive line at 28

I don’t know if it wouldn’t be a bad idea to actually trade out of 28 to the top of the second round take either defense lineman, or a wide receiver and then depending on who you take trade back up into the second and take the defensive lineman, or wide receiver, that you didn’t with your first second round pick

Exactly. As if we did not learn our lesson from Von.

If there has been one takeaway I've gotten from the offseason is that the Bills aren't in position for a teardown, but we can take our medicine.

Yesterday...yesterday was rough. Poyer and Tre were big parts of the culture change at the start of McDermott's tenure and Morse was a big part of the push into Allen's growth into what he is now.

I'm not saying the Bills are going to give up all hope of a championship, but now is the time to rebuild a young core and you don't do that chasing top tier free agents. I think the Bills can still scrounge up extensions, cuts and an Allen restructure to get over the cap and make a few day 2-3 pickups to round out weaknesses before the draft, but that's where we are going to build for long term success.

Trying to use free agency to build your team hardly ever works out. I think Brandon is doing it right

Get some baseline guys in free agency to fill holes players that have been in the system as starters hit on your draft picks

He keeps us cap compliant and allows us to have a little bit of money every year to continue to replenish baseline guys

With all the moves yesterday, I wonder if the Bills take a WR at 28. We all know it's important to build around Josh and to give him another weapon at WR is a must. Diggs is 30 and will turn 31 during the season. But with the moves Beane made yesterday I could see CB or S at 28 with both Poyer and Tre released. This is a deep draft for WR's according to the "experts" so a WR taken in Rd 2 wouldn't surprise me.

There is not a safety worth taking a 28

We have two legitimate starting corners and a first round pick that they’re trying to salvage they no doubt we’ll take a corner and a safety in this draft but it won’t be at 28

Greg gets some things right. But he gets a lot wrong especially regarding the cap. Cover 1 started as great. They’re less great now. Just my opinion on them.

I think the reason a player is willing to take an incentive laden deal in this situation is because if they don’t his career likely ends. Unless Von has 15+ sacks this year his time here is done at season end. And maybe his career overall is done. You can’t keep a guy who vastly underperforms his cost. And nobody wants to sign a guy who underperforms.

But take a haircut with the possibility to win it back based on performance? If Von gets 8.5 sacks this year at $8M people are having the conversation “He just needed a year to get right” and even if he doesn’t stick around here he is a guy who performed at a level commensurate with his pay. Good credit and bad credit matter.

Von that even 80% of himself is a 10 plus sack guy

I am not a fan of the Void Year.

I understand Beane was trying to get a SB worthy roster put together, but it just comes back to haunt you if you don't make it and win it.

    All teams do this
And honestly look at where we’re at right now we’re sitting at what 10 million over the cap without even restructuring Josh Allen’s deal

Biggest concern is we lose 5 captains, likely.  Hyde, Gabe, ,Po, Morse and Mactavitch , he might be re signed cheap though.

Need guys like Dawkins, Oliver, Milano even though he's not a rah rah guy and maybe Douglas to step up their leadership as vets.

Douglas was a team captain for the Packers
