    This looks as though you don't have auto renewal.

    If they were gonna charge you it would show that you already have ST with a $0 balance from the previous season and the upcoming renewal date instead of ADD

    Did you pay the full price last year or in installments?

    I think if you pay in installments the caveat is that you auto renew unless canceled

    I was thinking the same which is good. Paid in full last year at discounted rate they offered for 1st time sign up. But figuring this year won't offer any discounts to start with.

    Last year with their schedule,  only really needed it about 5 or 6 6 weeks as most game were seen all over. I'm out of local market.

    1. Click on the icon in the top RH corner with the letter of your first name.

    You should see Base Plan, then NFL Sunday Ticket right under it. Next billing is Aug. 15, 2024. Click on Manage to cancel.

    OK I don't have a choice of manage.  I see the date is August though, that;'s not too bad, I was expecting it to be much sooner.

    Kind of crazy how some of us old coots ( poster name play intended 😀) on this board remember a player & name vividly like this guy from 45+ years ago like it was only a few years ago.

    Angel Gabriel now 😔

    To your point:

    Recall the 1967 season, the Baltimore Colts led by Johnny U hadn't lost a game all season, though they had tied the Rams earlier who were in their same division.  Recall they were by far the best team in the league that year.  Last game of the season they played LA again in LA led by Gabriel and the Rams beat them.  There were no wild cards back then so the way the tie breakers fell Rams won the division somehow, Colts didn't even make playoffs.  Green Bay knocked off Rams in first round and then went on to win SB II.

    As a side note believe he was from Wilmington NC area where I currently live.

    It used to auto renew with Directv.

    Yeah but with DTV even once it auto renewed, you  could still cancel ST anytime up to the first week of the season.  That was when you'd do the dance routine to get them to offer abetter rate.  Thought I recall with YTTV once the payment is made, you're locked in and can't even cancel.

    I do have YTTV.  Not sure what you define as a one off purchase, I just made one payment, but in the fine print you agreed to auto-renew, think that was why they gave the discount.  Could be different with the stand alone, but kind of surprising they'd anyone off that easy when would be very easy to keep up the subscription.

    This lacks a lot of context.  Not every draft is equal, some drafts are top heavy and weak outside the top guys like 2021 for example.  Then others were considered weak for top tier prospects, but very deep for 2nd tier prospects outside round 1 like 2019.

    The hit rates and miss rates very much follow the patterns of the draft strength/weakness at the position.  So this doesn't IMHO dictate a model to follow and really shows you need to understand the strength and weakness of the position in each given draft to know what you need to do if you want to address WR.

    In a year like 2022 or 2021 where the draft going in was seen as a top heavy WR draft and weak after that, you better making a move to go get a guy.  But in a year like 2019, where there wasn't a lot of highly graded guys but a lot of strength in the depth, you are better letting it come to you or even trading back instead of reaching for a N'Keal Harry.

    This is a very deep draft, there are going to be a lot of guys who become good players outside the first round this draft.

    The other thing to compare is how does this compare with other positions? Is the hit/miss rate on edge rushers or CB's around the same.  If I were to bet on it, I'd say they are.

    Just reading an article today quoting Beane as saying there are only around 25 players the Bills have first round grades on.  But 32 teams will be drafting in the 1st round, so if Beane grades reflect how other teams also see it, there will be some misses there.

    Makes zero sense to me.  Can't believe the Pegula's have money issues.

    Reading the article about Kevin Adams season ending presser, he implied Terry is very per-occupied with Kim. Maybe he sees the 25% owner as becoming more of a face of the franchise and he can take a back seat.  Kind of like the last couple of years with RW.  He was no longer attending league meeting, was sending Russ.  Could be Terry feels better to send someone to represent the team who actually has a large amount of skin in the game, but no so much skin to over rule him.

    Article also talked about how this is becoming more popular as becoming more difficult for the heirs to keep the team in the family due to large tax issues.  Initially Terry may have figured good chance Kim will out live him and she'll run things. That looks less likely now, maybe kids either don't want it, can't afford it, or none he feels are totally capable of running it??

    I dont think Sunday ticket is something that can just renew.  You pay x amount for the full season. It's not like a monthly subscription.

    Yes but when you subscribed last year, part of the agreement in the fine print is that you agreed to turn on auto renewal. It'd really the same too, instead of a monthly subscription, you pay for a yearly subscription.  I have subscriptions for ESPN+, BN and Athletic, they auto renew every year so same with ST,  Now I want to turn it off.

    That's there way of making lots of money, with people who forget to turn it off.  Think I recall to there were no refunds also on it once you subscribed??

  9. I want to go into my YTTV account to turn off auto renewal so to prevent being charged full price automatically, found instructions on how to do, but when I go down to step 4 NFL ST membership is not listed.  I'm wondering is that due to not being in season right now and now even offered yet, or some other reason.  Can others get to step 4?  Right now I'm traveling so out of home market, wondering if that could have something to do with why I can't see the membership or other reason??

  10. So in today's Athletic, they looked at a very similar thing.  Article also stated that WR has one of the lowest rates of all position over the past 25 years in the first round.  Only positions worse are TE and QB is dead last.  LB has the best rate, pretty much any position on O-line has a good success rate too.  Even WR drafted in the top 10 only has a 53% success rate

    I've heard a lot of Bills talking heads raving about 2nd round WR success -- Deebo Samuel, AJ Brown, etc.

    It's a hot topic with the podcasting community as everyone seems to be laser focused at WR in round 1 or 2.

    So, I was curious to research the hit rate of WR in 1st round vs 2nd round the past several years. The results might surprise you.

    I marked "++" for plus starters each year, which I would define as a top 32 wideout. The past 2 seasons are TBD, so I started in 2021.

    Totals:

    11 out of 28 first round picks ended up being plus starters (39%).

    6 out of 33 second round picks ended up being plus starters (18%).

    2021:

    1st Round

    Ja'Marr Chase ++

    Jaylen Waddle ++

    DeVonta Smith ++

    Kadarius Toney

    Rashod Bateman

    2nd Round

    Elijah Moore

    Rondale Moore

    D'Wayne Eskridge

    Tutu Atwell

    Terrace Marshall Jr

    2020:

    1st Round

    Henry Ruggs

    Jerry Jeudy

    CeeDee Lamb ++

    Jalen Reagor

    Justin Jefferson ++

    Brandon Aiyuk ++

    2nd Round

    Tee Higgins ++

    Michael Pittman ++

    Laviska Shenault

    KJ Hamler

    Chase Claypool

    Van Jefferson

    Denzel Mims

    2019:

    1st Round

    Marquise Brown

    N'Keal Harry

    2nd Round

    Deebo Samuel ++

    AJ Brown ++

    Mecole Hardman

    JJ Arcega-Whiteside

    Parris Campbell

    Andy Isabella

    DK Metcalf ++

    2018:

    1st Round:

    DJ Moore ++

    Calvin Ridley

    2nd Round:

    Courtland Sutton

    Dante Pettis

    Christian Kirk

    Anthony MIller

    James Washintgon

    DJ Chark

    2017:

    1st Round:

    Corey Davis

    Mike Williams ++

    John Ross

    2nd Round:

    Zay Jones

    Curtis Samuel

    JuJu Smith-Schuster

    2016:

    1st Round:

    Corey Coleman

    Will Fuller

    Josh Doctson

    Laquon Treadwell

    2nd Round:

    Sterling Shepard

    Michael Thomas +?

    Tyler Boyd

    2015:

    1st Round:

    Amari Cooper ++

    Kevin White

    DeVante Parker

    Nelson Agholor

    Breshad Perriman

    Phillip Dorsett

    2nd Round:

    Devin Smith

    Dorial Green-Beckham

    So ... when you hear the talking heads describing 1st and 2nd round as both being a hot bed for WR talent historically, this is just recency bias due to a few good players coming from the 2020 and 2019 first and second round. There have been been A LOT of JAGs mixed in as well... but maybe they forgot. Hope you enjoy the analysis.

    So looking at this, my question is are there many WR drafted in lower rounds who'd earn your ++ rating, or are there just not many ++ WR's around anywhere, or is your grading curve to tough to earn the ++?

    Saw much better shooting watching the women play, hell they can even make free throws!

    Saw some amazing passing, back door cuts pick and rolls watching women.  Can't figure out, are they really great passers or do the women just play lousy defense?

    I believe Bass is going to have a really bad year this year.  He is not a lock at all when a crucial kick is needed and I don't trust him either.  That missed kick against KC really rubbed me the wrong way.  Bass is at best a 50/50 kicker at 50 yards.  Butker was house money at 50 yards and more and he out kicked Bass in our own stadium.

    I just don't think Bass can be counted on this year when it will need to matter.  He has developed a weird motion on all his kicks where it travels 20 to 30 yards and had an immediate fade to the right.  I don't know if he can fix this and it is somehow related to how he is striking the ball.

    Just not optimistic about him at all this year.

    And I believe in the tooth fairy, so guess that makes us even.  And very sorry you were rubbed the wrong way!

    So can you explain what changed from the year prior when he was much better from long distance?  Lets assume you're right in that he developed a "weird motion"  Maybe the coaches also figured that out or whatever did change suddenly mid season.  Did he also have that same "weird motion" when he started the season think it was 10 for 10?

    Maybe give the guy another chance before we bring the pitch forks out, but I know around here the first sign of any drop off or if he's not a superstar his rookie year it's time to move one!

    Kincaid can't block anyone.  Not sure why people think he is TE #1.  Sadly Knox has not developed into the receiving threat of an elite TE, so Brady will need to figure out a way to use them both.

    Knox is not going anywhere after taking a pay cut.  If Beane pulled that stunt he destroys his reputation in the locker room and with the agents.

    They have been and always will be different positions on the team.

    In fact when his contract is up Kincaid will argue like other flex TE's have that he should be paid more in line like a WR and not a TE.

    Knox is still likely one of the best pass catching, blocking TE's in the league.  Depending on what the Bills still do at WR and how much they may trust a rookie early on, maybe they will go back to more 12 personal this year like they started with last year.  In that role Knox could be valuable as he's a good enough pass catcher to keep teams honest.

    As far as Kincaid blocking, lets see how he does as a 2nd year player before saying he can't block anyone.  Likely in college he was hardly ever asked to.

    The sports "Media" is already beginning their "analysis" that the Bills are done in 2024.  The Athletic (a NYT company) has an article today by the Jets beat writer about how the Jets have the most talented roster in the AFC East (their 80 year old QB not withstanding) and we all know how objective the NYT is.

    https://theathletic.com/5388899/2024/04/04/jets-best-afc-east-roster-diggs-trade/

    How much are we really going to miss any of the players released, traded or not re-signed this off-season?

    Wide Receivers

    Let's start with the elephant in the room.  The Bills moved on from both veteran boundary receivers including "superstar" Stefon Diggs.  Those two accounted for 2349 receiving yards last season and 15 TDs.  However, Davis caught only 56% of his targets and after week 6 Diggs caught only 61% of his opportunities.  In fact, Diggs, after week 6, was on pace to only put up 830 yards (on 145 targets) in a full season.  That would have put him 25 in NFL.  He also was clearly no longer a fit in a Joe Brady offense.

    On the other hand Kincaid and Shakir flourished after week 6.  Kincaid was inactive in week 6, but over the next 13 weeks (including the playoffs) his usage increased and he paced for 860 yards over a 17 week season.  His usage in his second season should increase further with Diggs gone.  Shakir's game also changed after week 6.  In the first 6 weeks last season, Shakir averaged less than 1 target per game.  1 target!  After week six, Shakir was on pace for 845 yards (on only 68 targets).

    I also researched how the average WR drafted from 20-40 over the last 5 years produced in his rookie season.  The average was about 660 yards.  There were some stars like Jefferson, Tee Higgins, and Jordan Addison and some duds, but for the most part most were solid to good.  I'm confident that Beane & Co will find someone in the draft to help the Bills stretch the field with their 1st pick, something we didn't have last season.

    In addition we added proven slot receiver Curtis Samuel who should flourish in Brady's offense and we aren't going to miss the departed Harty or Sherfield at all.

    Defensive Line

    Are we really going to miss Phillips, Lawson, Ford or Settle? No didn't think so.  That leaves Leonard Floyd.  No BS, we are going to miss him.  The hope here is that Miller can capture at least some of his old form (he did look better in the playoffs) and that he and Epenesa can be effective enough to allow Rousseau to go back to his natural position and make up for the loss of Floyd.  My hope is that they draft a edge rusher in the 2nd rd to help make up for the loss.

    Offensive line

    Out with Bates and Morse.  Considering Bates played all of 35 snaps, I don't think he'll be missed.  Morse on the other hand has been the Bills center for the last 5 years and has done a very good job, but at 32 it is a reasonable question to ask how much he has left in the tank.  Beane solution is moving McGovern to center and creating a competition for the guard spot to returnee David Edwards (148 snaps last season - the most by a Bills backup OL) and presumably veteran La'el Collins. Collins has started 86 of 89 career games as a rt, but missed last season with injuries.

    Running back

    Lat Murray, Hines and Harris are gone.  They won't be missed.  Cook became a star last season. Ty Johnson also returns and was very effective last season in limited reps.  The Bills will likely add another back at some point

    Safety

    Out with Hyde and Poyer and in with Mike Edwards and Rapp becomes a starter.  This is a slight downgrade based on last year's grades, but it was time to move on from Hyde and Poyer.

    Corners and Linebackers

    White and Dodson are the big name departures, but given White's injury history and the return to health of pro bower Matt Milano, the play of Taron Johnson, Douglas, Benard and Benford, I don't think we'll miss either player.

    On paper the Bills are slightly downgraded.  We have fair questions at WR, OL, DL and safety.  However, I'm not worried about the wide receivers.  To me, removing DIggs and Davis has opened the opportunity for Allen to longer have to worry about Diggs getting targets.  He can now focus solely on who is open.  At safety, the declines in Poyer and Hyde were very noticeable and Rapp and Edwards should give us at least when the vets did.   I'm also not worried about the OL.  Torrence and Brown should continue to improve and McGovern proved he has a very capable interior lineman last season.  The only loss the really worries me is Floyd.

    Despite the downgrades on paper, I can see the Bills actually improving next season.  I think the offense will be better and more consistent.  Besides Allen and Dawkins, the heart of the offense are all young players in Brown, Torrence, Shakir, Kincaid and Cook who should continue to improve.

    On defense it's much the same story.  Oliver, Milano and T Johnson are the core, but they received a significant lift from improving kids Benford, Benard, and Rousseau.

    I subscribe to the Athletic and thought the article was fair when you look at the results over the entire season.  The last 7 weeks gave us hope in certain areas like WR with guys like Shakir and Kincaid at TE, but we don't yet know if its sustainable over and entire year.  We came in 2nd and he added a disclaimer "If we grade the quarterback position on a curve, the Bills would bring it closer, clearly."  As to your concerns on the O-line, he actually gave us the best grade in the division there.

    Having said that overall I'm not that worried about the players lost either, biggest concern right now to me is WR.  While Diggs struggled at the end, he still does make the defense game plan for him.  Second position is to me is safety.

    Below is the final rankings form the article.  Most of the area where the Jets were ranked better was on defense BTW.  He ranked the Jets #1 on every defensive position except safety, they were ranked dead last and Bills were 3rd

    Eh - if he's around in the 6th, sure.

    The issue is Mitch is signed as our backup with 2.71m in guarantees and a 1.5m Dead Cap hit if cut. It's not a whole lot, but I don't think they signed him to cut him. I'd expect he's pretty entrenched as our Backup for at least this season.

    And with that, I don't know that we'd keep a 3rd QB on the 53. It's usually two on the 53, one on the Practice Squad. If you're using a 5th on him and cutting him to put him on the PS - there's a chance someone's just going to snag him and you've wasted a 5th Round Pick.

    But if he's available in the Late 6th or 7th? Sure. Go nuts. Guys around then clear waivers all the time.

    Exactly the problem.  Anything higher than a 6th rounder moved to PS is likely to get grabbed up.  Add to that, regardless how good/bad you think Mitch is, he still is better than a rookie 5th/6th rounder this fall if Allen were to get hurt and miss a couple games.  Maybe if the guy sits at least on year on PS preferably two years, I'd trust a guy like that to be Allen's backup rather than cast off like Mitch.   Even then if he's on PS for 2024, I believe his contract would end then next March unless he agrees to re-up with Bills.  But why would a guy resign when he knows he's not likely to make the roster in 2025 either, he'd be better off signing elsewhere where he has a better shot.

    Can't see how any young development QB would want to sign in Buffalo when they know they have no shot of ever starting.  These guys need to go to teams like in 2023 Giants, NE, Pitt, where you're not going in as the #!, but you also know the #1 QB is on shaky ground, and their #2 has been around the block a few times himself so you could end up becoming the starter with just a little bit of luck and good play on your part.  You draft him, yes the Bills have him for 2024, but once on PS, low odds of keeping him beyond this year.

    The Bills have won the 2nd most games in the league since 2020.

    They've won four straight division titles.

    The only possible reason to say he "deserves" criticism is because they haven't won a title. But if that's the case, then 31 GMs every single year deserve criticism.

    Looking at moves in a vacuum for any GM across the league, you're going to see some moves that worked and some that didn't. No GM is immune to mistakes. But looking at the total output and production of a team gives you a sense of what kind of job the team's architect has done. The fact remains that only the Chiefs have won more games than the Bills since 2020, that they've won their division four years in a row, and that they are contenders year in and year out.

    You want perfection? Go watch a Kurosawa film or listen to a Betthoven sonata.

    Beane is a very good GM.

    P.S. Brandon Beane DOES receive criticism, and if you don't see it, then you're not looking in the right places. Go turn on ESPN, Fox Sports 1, or listen to any drive time football radio show, and you'll hear scores of criticism of Beane and his Bills. Heck, the buzziest phrase in football the past two season has been "the Bills window is closed".

    If you're angry at Brandon Beane and want to criticize him, then just say that. Don't manufacture an immunity to criticism that he does not actually possess.

    And then came back  and won the AFC East and #2 seed

    I wonder if was more simply that Diggs didn't like Allen getting all the attention and being the face of the franchise.   He felt he should be  getting more credit.  Add to that less targets.

    Yeah, this really is part of it.

    How come the Chiefs D couldn't even begin to shut Allen down the last four or five drives? He was simply playing too well, out of his mind.

    Same with the Chiefs as well.

    Still, you'd think they could have gotten a kick squibbed. How come the kicking team clearly thought it was a squib and were shocked when it went in the end zone.

    But both offenses were simply playing offense as well as it could be played. If we'd won that coin flip, we'd have won that game.

    When I first saw the title of the thread I was hoping that Poyer was going to explain what happened on the kick, but not a word about that.  To me that is the bigger question mark in that whole situation.  As someone else in the thread pointed out the Pats scored a TD with 16 seconds left so really hard to say the played the wrong defense.  But a squib kick would have eaten into that time.

    In the thread on the new kickoff rules I questioned with the new rules will squib kicks even be done anymore and probably not as technically the ball first touched the ground in what do they call it the dead zone??  As a result believe the receiving team would now have the ball at the 40 so doubtful they'd be done anymore??

  21. Naw! If we're going secondary in round 1, the guy I want is the CB from Alabama.  He's listed as going in the late 20's so not a reach and likely different folks will have him ranked all over the place.  Josh Allen was ranked all the way from #1 overall to a 4th rounder.

    But I want this guy so we can say we have a CB named Kool Aid on the team!

  22. As long as NBC is wiling to pay them likely even more than they'd get for putting game on regular TV, not a really a big issue for NFL.  Yes they'd like higher viewership, but more importantly is the money they are getting.

    And as other have commented, there are plenty other games on platforms other than broadcast, so just one more.
