  1. Manning Brady Mahomes Montana Allen is still behind a number of QB legends.
  2. I think that Bills Chicks group really led the charge in getting him cut. If fans didn’t immediately take sides and waited for it all to play out, the organization wouldn’t have been under immense pressure to act without evidence. I just think a non-football related suspension would’ve been more fair than an outright cut.
  3. In hindsight, I wonder if a suspension while the legal issues played out would’ve made more sense than an outright cut? If there was sufficient evidence for the Bills to believe he was guilty, cool, cut him. But at the time there was only he said/she said and an annoying lawyer on the woman’s side making unprofessional threats.
  4. Our punter hasn’t been his best self in about a season and a half. I would’ve liked Araiza to have signed a futures contract, considering we did invest a draft pick in him.
  5. Tell that to everyone who’s up in arms about the Von Miller contract. That’s what we do on message boards and talk in general - debate and value a player’s worth in relation to his production on the field. There’s a long list of contract regrets with this team. Kincaid actually had some pretty nice blocks on the season. He says himself it’s something he’ll continue to work on, but he’s not a total dud. The effort is there.
  6. The argument is Knox isn’t worth the contract for his production on the field. These numbers further illustrate that point. Essentially 1 catch per game for a first down.
  7. That was my exact argument at the time. Josh had never shown a reliance on using the TE, so I didn’t understand the timing of the extension. Especially when you also factor in it was Dorsey’s first year as a play caller. Wouldn’t you like to see how Knox is utilized before throwing that sort of money at him?I also didn’t think Knox would suddenly develop glue hands if he were to get more targets. That drop against PIT that led to Bernard getting injured on the very next series was inexcusable. No one but the Bills was paying Knox that contract. We outbid ourselves. He’s a great guy by all accounts and a close friend of Josh, but that’s bad money.
  8. If Miller bounces back next season and looks like he did pre injury, this won’t be close to being true. If he continues to look like he did all of 2023, then sadly it’s accurate. Point is, too early to make that statement.
  9. I think the much maligned Gabe Davis would’ve caught one of the two long passes Sherfield dropped. Maybe not the one where his arm was being held, but certainly the second where he got two hands on it. Good luck with your next team, Grape!
  10. Thought I’d see Greg among the league leaders in run stop win rate since it’s his most redeeming quality, but here’s your top 10. Not sure how far down the list he is.
  11. It’s not a big deal, but I believe you’re getting the games mixed up. No Bill was credited with a sack in the Chiefs playoff game. But yeah, this doesn’t only fall on Rousseau, the entire front four has a habit of hibernating in the playoffs. I foolishly thought Daquan Jones would make a difference. They couldn’t stop the run or the pass.
  12. The playoff game was the play I was referencing, not the regular season. We didn’t touch Mahomes in the playoffs. Well, Rousseau touched him on the one pass rush but that’s about it. Mahomes still got a huge play out of it. We have to solve why the DL disappears every year in the playoffs, but that’s another discussion for another time.
  13. That still doesn’t mean “sign the guy for more than he’s worth because he’s all we’ve got at the position.” If that’s the case, you let those high money/low production guys go and take a chance on the backup(s).
  14. We’ll see what Beane does, but if all things stay relatively the same, don’t be surprised if Rousseau is allowed to walk versus Beane signing him for $20M/yr. I just don’t think it’ll happen.
  15. I remember one play from the Chiefs game where Rousseau was in on Mahomes. One. And he didn’t get the sack. Because of the miss Klein inexplicably left his assignment and we gave up a huge play. Those sacks and being able to close the deal definitely matter.
  16. Correct, I’m letting him walk if he thinks he should be paid more than he’s worth. If he makes one of these lists when his contract is up for discussion, he’ll have a much stronger argument for being paid like a great player: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38356170/2023-nfl-pass-rush-run-stop-blocking-win-rate-rankings-top-players-teams#prwr
  17. Was this attributed to me? Or the OP? If I could go back and dig up some of my old posts, I was in favor of extending Oliver, always had been, because he had shown an ability to take over games, he just didn’t do it consistently enough. I still remember Dallas on Thanksgiving and a Jets game where he was a one man wrecking ball, single-handedly disrupted drives. I told people years ago if it came down to Edmunds or Oliver I’m picking Oliver 10/10 even if he plays a fraction of the defensive snaps. And if Rousseau blows up, great! He’d be worth the investment, but I’m not extending his current production at a high ticket. He has yet shown that he can take over games like Oliver had shown.
  18. He’ll get the 5th year option, no doubt. But going forward, unless he taps into a consistent ability to disrupt the QB, he walks if his camp believes he should be paid like a great edge defender. $13M/yr would be my value on what he currently brings. $15M/yr if his sacks per season stay relatively the same (5-8) but his amount of pressures greatly increase. He just doesn’t affect the QB often enough - currently - to get into big money discussions. I’ve said he’s a much better run defender than pass rusher. How do I watch him and not think he’s worth $20M/yr? Same way I watched Edmunds for 5 years and didn’t think he should’ve been paid a dime more than Milano at $11-$13M/yr. You let those non-difference makers walk if the price tag gets high, you DONT extend that production with a hefty contract.
  19. So is $20M+/yr for what he brings. That’s even more ridiculous.
  20. Here comes the straw man… I’m extending him based on his value as an edge defender and if that’s north of $13M/yr I’m letting him walk. Great players get substantial contracts commensurate to their value. That’s all I’ve ever said, read my posts again.
  21. He’s an average pass rusher and that’s primarily how edges are judged, not on their ability to hold the point of the attack and play the run. He's still got time to figure it out in that department, but you don’t extend those guys to substantial contracts.
  22. You also don’t get better paying average to above average players $20M/yr. It’s the same reason why I said Edmunds had to walk and had Beane re-signed him I would’ve lost faith in him as a GM. Rousseau isn’t one of the best edge defenders in the league. Well, against the run, sure, but not against the pass and that’s what brings the money. He’s a capable starter at this point, nothing more, nothing less.
  23. My philosophy is simple when it comes to re-signing big ticket players: against the better teams, the ones we have to go through in the playoffs, has the player shown he can impact the game in the biggest moments? Does he usually have any impact on the game at all? If it’s a no, I let him go.
  24. As long as Rousseau’s camp doesn’t expect him to be paid like a top edge defender, then we have no problem. He’s an average to above average starter on the DL, probably not worth more than $13M/yr. Anything north of that I let him walk and take my comp pick. If he showed up in the biggest moments of the biggest games, I’d feel differently.
  25. Football is the ultimate team sport, no doubt, but players are still recognized on an individual level and accolades awarded. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding both players, this is Patrick Mahomes trophy case: 3× Super Bowl champion (LIV, LVII, LVIII) 3× Super Bowl MVP (LIV, LVII, LVIII) 2× NFL Most Valuable Player (2018, 2022) NFL Offensive Player of the Year (2018) 2× First-team All-Pro (2018, 2022) Second-team All-Pro (2020) 6× Pro Bowl (2018–2023) 2× NFL passing touchdowns leader (2018, 2022) NFL passing yards leader (2022) Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year (2020) And this is Allen’s: Second-team All-Pro (2020) 2× Pro Bowl (2020, 2022) Objectively speaking, our guy is not better than theirs. If you want to say he’s at least on par, I still wouldn’t agree, but at least an argument could sort of be made. It just gets tiring reading over and over how “Allen is better than Mahomes” yet has none of the accolades, awards, or trappings of success to prove it.
