  1. I’m all for the pick if Beane decides to go with Worthy. I feel like we’ve been chasing that type of player for awhile with Smoke, Sanders, Stevenson, McKenzie, and Harty. At this point I feel like it’s probably one of Worthy, Legette, or Franklin (even if I didn’t like his combine measurements/performance). Mitchell and Thomas Jr will most likely be gone. I didn’t know Coleman played D1 college basketball, so right away he’s more likely to have better hands and body control than other receivers his size. That said, I can’t see him at 28, but agree with you for a trade down and picking him in the 2nd if it comes to that. If only we had a crystal ball, or access to a time traveler to tell us which receivers will pan out from this draft.
  2. Worthy looks fast, but in these highlights I didn't get the feeling he looked Tyreek Hill fast. Maybe Hill’s agility/quickness is better which makes him look faster.
  3. I wanted Franklin at 28 before the combine, but if he’s going to show up 2 inches shorter and almost 20 pounds lighter than his listed ht/wt, that boy better run a 4.3. His time was disappointing for his frame, can he add 20 pounds and maintain 4.4 speed? Not a risk I want to take in round 1.
  4. But Rattler was Senior Bowl MVP and kinda looks like Mahomes! All jokes aside, consistency is what plagued him. How does a guy throw 6 TDs against the number 5 team in the nation and then look underwhelming against lesser teams? Truth is we never know how any of these guys will pan out at the next level. There are plenty of players where we say “never saw that coming based on his tape” and that could be a positive or negative. One thing’s for sure, we’ve gotta draft one. If he’s good enough to beat out a veteran backup, cool. If not, take a swing next year. Keep taking those swings and eventually we’ll find our Gardner Minshew, or if we’re really lucky, a Brock Purdy.
  5. I would only stand pat or trade down. No matter how sure I may be of a prospect, or how high I have him graded, history tells us time and time again that I’m just as likely to get it wrong as I am to get it right. Almost assuredly there’ll be a guy taken after the player I select who will be even more productive at the position. That’s just how every NFL draft goes and I shake my head at the ones here who want to mortgage the future on a single player who may or may not work out.
  6. I’m the last to make things about race, I hate when it’s brought up on these boards as a crutch to support one argument or another, but in McConkey’s place I do think it fits. White receivers who are 6’0” or shorter are almost always slot players. I can’t remember the last starting receiver who played on the outside and was white and didn’t have height in his favor: Jordy Nelson, Ed McCaffrey, Cris Collinsworth, who am I missing who was on the shorter side? If Ladd McConkey was a black receiver named Lamont McCoy and he put up the same athletic tests and collegiate statistics, there’d be a good argument to put him amongst the top 3 as a starting outside receiver.
  7. The fastest 40 yard dash I’ve heard is Christian Coleman’s 4.12 that can be seen on YouTube. But Worthy running a 4.21 is unreal for a football player.
  8. I don’t mind that the QB is more protected, because without one a team’s season is over, BUT some of the roughing the passer calls today are egregiously bad: a slight push just after the ball is released and the QB doesn’t even go to the ground, a hit across the top of the helmet, a player who lands without his body weight on the QB yet is still called for RTP. There’s a healthy balance somewhere in the middle but right now we’re on the extreme side.
  9. If Bernard and Edmunds were making the same exact amount of money, I’d rather have Bernard on this team, all day everyday, 10/10. Buscaglia and Joe Marino’s guy has never had a nose for the ball.
  10. Oh yeah, things could def be worse. We could be 31st in cap savings and not nearly as competitive (Saints). A lot of that has to do with our QB though. Things would be quite different if David Carr was throwing passes for us.
  11. Knox is a good player. A bit inconsistent, but he’s good. His true value lies somewhere between $8-$10M/yr and is likely what he would have got had he hit the open market prior to this offseason (where I expect a number of deals to be inflated). He’s not only making a bit more than he should, but his importance as a receiver has lessened with the addition of Kincaid. It’s not a Star Lotuleile egregious contract, but it isn’t one of Beane’s better decisions/extensions. Similarly, I have no idea what he was thinking giving Diggs a 4 yr $96M extension at his age. Diggs was due a pay raise, but should’ve got half the length. A 2 yr $48M extension would’ve made much more sense and he’d be a 32 year old when it expired, looking for what would likely be his final contract. That deal was probably worse than Knox’s. The Von contract was worse than all, but only because of injury. After shedding a number of guys and fixing the cap issues when he first became GM, Bills are now 32nd ranked in cap because of Beane’s bad spending.
  12. This was true under Dorsey. I think his vision for the offense was a Gronk/Hernandez version with two viable threats. I can’t remember the percentages, but when Brady took over they ran much less two TE sets, even when Knox came back from injury. Overall I believe Knox only saw the field around 30% of the time under Brady. Will that change with a full offseason to incorporate his vision? We shall see…
  13. KC’s defense has supported Mahomes in the playoffs much more than Josh’s has, BUT the fact that we’re coming up short against Mahomes time after time has to factor into that equation. Or in other words, the Chiefs defense has forced Allen and the Bills to punt more than the other way around, regardless of defensive rankings. The hypothetical of switching QBs and how their careers would be different, I’d love if there was a real answer for it. All we can do is speculate this and that, but I personally believe the takes that Buffalo would have zero championships while KC wouldn’t miss a beat with Allen are ridiculous. I don’t believe there’s a chasm of talent between the two QBs at all, but there’s still a gap, and however small it is, it has led to one QB winning league and Super Bowl MVPs while the other is simply planning his next tee time.
  14. A restructure would alleviate some of the problems now, but would make his contract even worse in the years to come. I think the Bills should approach him about a pay cut, not a restructure. I think it feels like Knox missed most of the year because he was largely a non-factor. It was a bad contract then (and I said as much before Kincaid was even on the radar) and it’s a bad contract now. The timing of it - after his brother had passed and before he ever took a snap in Dorsey’s offense - was curious to me. If all things stay status quo, I can’t see him being a real threat when we’ll have Diggs, Kincaid, a highly touted rookie, and Cook stealing his targets. Maybe even Shakir.
  15. Beane blamed the pandemic for why they’re currently over the cap. He specifically referenced it being $13M lower that year than what they thought it’d be. Now is his chance to right his wrongs. Higher cap doesn’t mean spend, spend, spend!
  16. Yeah that Mike Leach spread offense and the long list of Texas Tech QBs who had never gone on to do anything in the league was one of the knocks against Mahomes. My sister was a trainer with the team and kept telling me “the Bills have to draft Mahomes. He’s different.” I asked her what made him so different from all the other guys that put up huge numbers in that offense? She said she didn’t know exactly, but could tell he wasn’t like the others. I didn’t believe her 😅
  17. Let me see if I can find what I’m referencing… EDIT: the original story about Mahomes and Terry’s infatuation with him was actually a podcast with Monos from Dec of 2020. I tried to click on it but now it wants me to sign in.
  18. Oh, this wasn’t in the McD “hit piece.” The talk with Jim Monos happened awhile before that article came out. I didn’t read the McD story either, because a) I didn’t want to pay for it and b) whatever feelings I had because of what I read, it wouldn’t make a difference because Sean is still our HC. I’m not eager to see him in a negative light because it lessens my hope for the team. EDIT to say: Dunne talked with Jim again after the piece came out and that’s when Jim was defending McD’s character.
  19. So you read the same story. It could all be BS, but I don’t see what he would’ve stood to gain from lying. Also, when everyone was bashing McD, he came to his defense and said he was a great person. That they all worked very well together the short time during the draft but understood that McD wanted to bring in his own GM. Jim didn’t seem to harbor any resentment towards him.
  20. I don’t make anything up, just passing along what I read. The article is out there if you want to dig for it, the source was Jim Monos.
  21. I wouldn’t even say he “fell” to 10. Most of the pre draft rankings had him as a late 1st-2nd round prospect. Technically he shouldn’t have even gone ahead of Deshaun Watson. When the Bills made the trade with KC, the Bills braintrust figured it was for Watson, Terry thought he could still get Mahomes at the back of round 1. He actually wanted to take him at 10, but McD hadn’t scouted QBs so he wanted to wait. Whaley was on record as saying “it’s your team, Mr Pegula, you can do whatever you want.” Pegula sided with his new coach, McDermott, and the rest is history.
  22. And I’m sure they’re looking at the amount of cap space their team has. Get paid, fellas!
  23. His only punt for us was an 80 yarder in the preseason. Would’ve been fun watching him in Bills gear, I know many here already were trying out nicknames for him. Good luck in KC, Matt, unless you play Buffalo, then I hope you shank your one or two punts.
  24. Manning Brady Mahomes Montana Allen is still behind a number of QB legends.
