Interesting that in this topic, no one has broached trading one of next year's 2nd rounders for a 3rd rounder this year.
I think the Bills will do well to stand pat at #28 but I'm pretty sure everyone will regret not having a 3rd rounder this year... thus trading one of next year's 2nd rounders.
Assuming a 3rd rounder this year nets us a starter, I think it's more important to have that pick this year than next year because of the Josh Allen Window.

Round 7We had an extra 6th this year and another 5th next year that was used in the Diggs trade. We were projected to get a 6th Round comp pick for Dane Jackson that was cancelled out by the Curtis Samuel signing. We were also projected to get a 7th Round Comp Pick for Tyrel Dodson that more than likely was cancelled by the Austin Johnson signing.
The lack of a 3rd Rounder this year hurts. But looking over the next two years, we have a lot of extra capital that can be used in Trades, not only for this season, but next season as well. An extra 4th, two extra 5th's, and an extra 6th this year. An extra 2nd and 4th next season.

I don't see how he can into the top 10 just trading picks. He doesn't have the capital. But a player and his first could get him there.
Bills aren't trading Dawkins (or Spencer Brown?) to move up and expecting to get his replacement in the draft, so it doesn't matter how strong the tackle draft is. The replacement would have to be on the team or available in free agency. Edit: Whoops, Dawg just said that.
As someone said - he's just a good bet to do something.
Shaw is on to something simply for this reason:
Beane has shown a tendency to aggressively improve draft position in the early rounds:
2018: Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds
2019: Cody Ford
2022: Kaiir Elam
2023: Dalton Kincaid
That's 5 players in 6 years that he's moved up for in the early rounds.

Yep, a little PTSD. In 2014 the Bills drafted Sammy Watkins 4th overall. They traded the 9th overall pick plus their next year's 1st and 4th rounders (19th and 115th overall).
There've been other instances of teams packaging picks to trade up for a WR. Julio Jones comes to mind:
"The Atlanta Falcons selected Jones with the sixth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft despite already having Pro Bowl receiver Roddy White. Jones became the earliest drafted wide receiver in franchise history for the Falcons. The Falcons traded five draft picks to the Cleveland Browns to move up into their spot and take Jones, giving up their 27th, 59th, and 124th picks from the 2011 Draft, and their first and fourth-round picks from the 2012 NFL draft."
In retrospect that was a crazy aggressive move.

I think the FO would really have to figure out Aiyuk's fit here though - culture/diva wise. It's not a good look forcing his way out of SF and we just went through it.
Getting Rookies and penciling them in as pretty much WR1-ish is riskier than we have seen out of Beane in the past. But if the Bills can do it and go with rookies it really transitions this team to a Josh lead juggernaut. Getting the likes of McConkey/K Coleman/T Franklin/Legette would solidify Josh as the leader of this team and get the team with an offense that has a core that will be together for multiple years (Kincaid/Cook/Shakir/rookie WR).
Based on the things Aiyuk himself has said, I think the bolded is incorrect.
He wants to be paid big money, now.

I'm not saying whether the Bills should pursue him or not but Aiyuk's definitely a number one... he relegated Deebo Samuel to number 2 and his already huge numbers from last year (75 receptions 1341 yards 17.6 YPR 7 TDs) would explode if he were to transition to Josh Allen from Brock Purdy.
Those who closely watch the Niners and the NFL know without a doubt that Aiyuk is a number one receiver.
He's just not yet a household name.

This would be the right time for me to bring up the Travis Kelce to Kadarious Toney play that would have beaten us except for Toney’s stupidity.
It was obvious to me that the Chiefs had practiced that play.
It’s no coincidence that it happened on the 24th anniversary of the MCM and was Andy Reid’s attempt to put a dagger through our hearts for the rest of eternity.
