I have Thurmans rookies all 3 that hurts the value that when the market exploded the first year proset and score came on the scene. I have them graded with really high grades. 9.5 gem mint for tops and score and 8near mint for the pro set. It's funny I picked the 9.5s up for 25 bucks each years ago. Check em on ebay they fetch around 200 bucks now. The pro set I can never ever find any graded. They just weren't worth it. It's like before covid I picked up a gretzky rookie graded 5 for 125 bucks now 800 all day.

Ha! Man I have been looking around for a signed Gretzky photo or card for a while and the prices are just thru the roof.. obviously he is one of those very few “it” athletes that transcends his sport.. it’s impossible to find something legit of his at a reasonable price.  Even the “acceptable” condition stuff is priced high.

It is hard to believe, however, most people outside of the Buffalo market don't even remember who Thurman was unfortunately. As great as he was, his name is never brought up when people think of the great RB's.

I've also got 6 Barry Sanders rookie cards and 6 Emmit Smith rookie cards......the Sanders are worth about $150/piece......the Smith are worth about $50/piece.

It's the same thing, even though Smith owns the all-time rushing title which to most people outside of Dallas means nothing, Sanders is arguably the best of all time, so his card sores, while Smith's is stagnant.

    Very, very bizarre market indeed.

I don’t want to go off on a tangent here but boy did I always find Smith overrated during that 90s era. He couldn’t do half of what Thomas used to do.  Forget the running for a second.. just take a look at the blocking and receiving. Thomas was a legit three down back, the most versatile of the three. Sanders was just as shifty and quick as it gets.  If I were to rank them…

    1) Sanders

    2) Thomas

    3) Smith

Have OJ's legal problems/reputation caused his football collectibles to sink in value, or soar?

I can see it going either way.

    Just wondering.

Hard to say.. his signature definitely isn’t cheap.  Someone mentioned that Thurman Thomas’s rookie card fetches like $3.00 now? Not signed obviously but still. A value that low for an obvious hall of fame player. I can’t make heads or tails out of it.

Oh, and i've got a Buffalo Bills fishing lure, believe it or not.

A Thurman Thomas rookie card is worth $3.00 ?  Hard to believe. What a bizarre market.

  5. Ok I ended up looking though all my stuff and it turned out to be more than I thought.. I probably need to add something t by Bruce Smith and Josh Allen at some point but I’m pretty happy with what I have:

    Jim Kelly

    Thurman Thomas

    Rookie cards:

    OJ Simpson

    Don Beebe (signed)

    Signed Photos:

    Darryl Talley

    Don Beebe

    OJ Simpson

*In looking through some of this stuff, I managed to find an old 8x10 photo of Stan “the man” Musiał signed!! Uhh.. dad?? What’s the story there? Ha!

If you want OJ signed gear, come to Vegas, he lives here and signs everything

I have a photo and mini helmet signed by OJ.  I’m good.  I took a look around for some Josh Allen stuff recently but it’s over the top expensive. Maybe after he retires..

I’ve got so much stuff I can’t remember all of it. Here’s what can remember.

    autographed balls by:

    Allen

    Kelly

    Reed

    Moulds

    Evans

    Kelly, Reed, Moulds

    Poz

a few other with misc guys like Nelson, Moats, etc.

    autographed jerseys:

    Evans

    Jackson

    autographed pics:

    cj Spiller

    Kelly

    Lynch

    full size helmet autographed by

    Kelly, Reed, Thomas

    mini helmets autographed by

    Poyer

    Hyde

tons of autographed cards from 90s Bills.

probably my favorite item is from when I lived in Vegas and ran a restaurant. I happened to have an official NFL “Duke” ball in my trunk at the time. And Stephen Jackson came into my restaurant and ordered about $150 in wings. One of my employees notified me that he was in the restaurant. I gladly comped his entire meal and didn’t feel bad about asking him if he would sign my Ball. He did it gladly. Really cool dude. Deserves more credit than he gets for a fantastic career.

Like I said I have tons of stuff, probably leaving out a few things. But off the top of my head that’s what I’ve got.

Impressive! There’s nothing like getting memorabilia as a kid though. It’s great to be able to go to a signing or just buy it somewhere as an adult but being a kid and getting things like this is on another level.

I have a football that OJ signed for me the year he gained 2003 yards. The signature is mostly faded after 50 years, but it’s there.

That’s an amazing piece.  Keep it away from direct sunlight and it will last for generations.

  9. Anyone here collect? If so, what are some of your most prized Bills related items?

I mostly have some signed mini helmets and photos, but I do have an OJ Simpson rookie card, Kelly & Tasker rookies.  Have some mini helmets and photos signed by a number of the 90s Bills.  Not much of a jersey guy.

May need to add something from Josh Allen to the collection.

    Go Bills!

Just heard McDermott reiterate that “Only one team gets to lift the Lombardi trophy.” and that “31 teams go home disappointed every season.” In addition to McDermott having said this multiple times already I’ve heard Beane say something similar this offseason. My unpopular opinion is that I hate hearing the leaders of the team say crap like this. It gives everyone an excuse for failure every season. Oh well, there’s 31 of us. <shrug> No big deal. I wonder how he’d have responded to Bass if, after missing the game tying kick, he said something like that?

Your opinion is not unpopular as far as I’m concerned.  There is a difference if someone says this if they won a few rings already and the team contends on a regular basis.  When you do not win any rings and make comments like these it’s a loser mentality and has no place in the organization.  That’s my take.

the thing isnt even built?! How about waiting until it is before passing this kind of judgment

It’s not hard to see the model plans.. feel free to take a look for yourself.  It’s an ugly stadium model with absolutely zero charm imo.  I wish that they would just add a few things to the current one.  The new one is just a generic eye sore.  But hey, to each their own.

  12. Hey all.

Anyone into collecting signed sports stuff?

Bills, Sabres & Red Sox fan here and I like to get an occasional signed 8x10, card or bobblehead.. not just from my favorite teams but from individual players I like e.g., Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, Rob Ray, Jaromir Jagr,

Teemu Selanne, Steve Young, Magic Johnson, Carl Yastrzemski, etc.. I think I spent a little too much over the years, lol.  Should do a headcount of my collection sometime.. what about you guys?

  13. Brady dominated the Bills for so long that I was just numb to it.. I would just plan the L automatically.  With The Chiefs it’s not just Mahomes.. it’s Kelce and Fckn Taylor Swift.. gimme a break.  Are they going to show her after every Kielce completion next season too?  The NFL released an entire vid of her responses to numerous plays at the SB.. it was posted on the official NFL channel on YouTube.  The “darlingness” for the chiefs is out of control.

Well i guess Its a war on hispanics, asian americans, indians, middle easterner on and on. Its discrimitory not to get full anthem representation for all people and cultures that do not want to be included in a single unified anthem.

Hopefully the NFL realizes how bigoted it is and starts the opening ceremony at the crack of dawn to include all anthems from every background since we are now just a bunch of individual groups who happen to live in proximity to one another.

The NFL should just keep it simple and stay away from anything that isn’t directly NFL related.  People don’t need lectures from athletes and sports leagues.

  15. After Ukraine’s behavior towards Poland during WWII, I don’t really care about Ukraine’s problems.  Perhaps we should talk about how they “helped” Polish civilians during WWII.  Hehe..

Ukraine is among the most systematically corrupt nations in the world.  Easily top five but more like top three.  Half the aid sent there will result in bureaucrats upgrading their yachts and finally getting the villas they always wanted.  Trash.

The Bills and Bills Mafia will be celebrating our ever living asses off next February.

    Just wait and see.

Gee thanks for letting us know.  I wasn’t sure but now I feel relieved.  On a serious note.. Cowboy fans are known for exactly this type of nonsense and I guess it has spilled into the Buffalo area and Bills fans.  So all of a sudden McDermott will coach better than Andy Reid?  You know that Josh Allen will have the ball last and Stefan Diggs will make a clutch catch when needed?  All of that is in effect for 2024?

Jeter, Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, Drew Brees, LeBron, Joe Montana, Ray Lewis, Wayne Gretzky, Messi….whole lot of great players and champions who didn’t need to cuss out their teammates in a public spectacle on the sidelines

I’ve seen Magic Johnson get into it with his teammates.  I’ve seen him get into a few fights with opposing players too.  Very rarely but it did happen.  Gretzky had his moments too.  But honestly.. it’s about execution.  If yelling helps the execution of a play, fine.  If not then it’s useless.

  18. With the amount of talent Josh Allen has, the Bills should win two Super Bowls imo.  One would be great and I don’t mean to sound greedy here but to me, if they don’t win at least two, it will be disappointing.  The team should be in “WIN NOW” mode.  Allen is 27 years old and as young as that is, there have been missed opportunities and the Bills can’t get those back.  If Allen does not have a ring by 30.. all anyone will talk about is that he is another hall of fame QB like Marino and Kelly.  Good players, no rings.
