1. HaHaHa.. While watching the game with my wife, when I believe Lofton described it as a "pirouette", I burst out laughing. I said that I don't think I've ever heard that word while watching an NFL game.... Spin, twist.. etc... Just made us laugh.   But I tried to remind her of Tasker in a playoff game vs the Raiders in a freezing cold playoff game catching a line drive onside kick and nearly taking it all the way.

  2. My take on the defense was that first and foremost , they don't have a backup player for Milano who is an exceptional linebacker in pass coverage... especially on tight ends, It's hard to find a guy like that.

I also felt like Levi Wallace was the victim of the refs not calling offensive pass interference a few times. It appeared to me that Miami fully intended to match up a big , strong wr vs Wallace since he's a tall, thin guy.  He was often pushed away on the receivers first break and couldn't recover. I think we will see this strategy vs Levi the rest of the year.

He just needs a little more muscle , ( physicality) moving forward. Miami game planned those two things in my opinion and were successful.

  3. Hi to all of you. I've been a huge Bills fan since @1970 . I grew up in Jamestown NY, went to UB, graduated in 1981. Unfortunately , my job took me to NJ where I've lived since 1991.

I've had the Sunday Ticket since it first started just to watch my team on Sundays.

Exciting times now. I'm a big fan of the coach and his quest to just get a long term system" culture" in place. I know of this after 15 years of coaching high school football down here.

I'm sure i'll get crap about my double spacing and skipping lines while posting. It's ok. I've been a lurker for a long time so I know the drill. The only person I ever replied to is Yolo and that was because he noted that the bills were scouting a kid I coached that went to Lafayette College ( ended up in Canada for a couple of years.

Anyhow, as an old guy that watched film forever to get my QB  ready every week , I can add something maybe to this, ( besides just reading Yolo and agreeing.

    thanks

  4. Thanks for the kind words. I stopped posting a few years ago... too many wise guy remarks.

I've been a Bills fan forever it seems. I grew up in Western NY (Falconer which is a small town near Jamestown). Went to UB, played Rugby for 4 years. Graduated in 1981 ( I know I'm old). The economy was awful then so I left to get a job. Thank God for Sunday Ticket!

Anyhow.. Ross & my son played high school ball together. My son was the QB and Ross was the do everything RB.. He ran back kicks & punts ( very elusive), he did our punting averaging just under 40 yds a punt, caught passes and ran like the wind at the high school level.

I think he could do well as a special teams player. He's certainly tough enough to handle it.

BTW Yolo, I appreciate your posts. They always seem a step ahead of most of the others. Most are right on. If I see that you posted something I always check it out. Thank you!

  5. Hi, I have not posted in a long time but I felt the need to now:

I had the pleasure to coach Ross throughout his high school career in Allentown NJ. I was hoping that he might get a look from some of the NFL teams, especially my Bills. He is the most talented kid I have ever coached. Unreal vision when he runs. Excellent receiver as well.

I know it's a long shot but I hope he makes it. Such a great kid. Tough as nails too.

  6. Honestly, I know it's an open forum, which means any half-wit with an internet connection and a keyboard can speak his mind, but the gnashing of teeth over late round draft picks is both comical and embarrassing. We have supposedly "knowledgeable" football fans who can't understand how many defensive backs a team needs to go to training camp. We have folks apparently unwilling to accept that the Bills' front office didn't believe a developmental prospect at QB was more important than finding players who can contribute immediately. We have people who think two RBs are enough for an entire season. This stuff amazes me - particularly the "Joe Schmoe was sitting there in the 6th round; how did these idiots not take him?" nonsense.

The Bills just got a lot more talented and addressed a number of significant needs. They couldn't fix everything with nine draft picks, but we are in a heluva lot better shape than we were on Thursday afternoon. Did everyone suddenly forget that except for about three games, the talent-poor 2010 Bills were in a position to win every game if they make a few plays in the 4th quarter or OT?

I'm tired of the decade of losing as much (if not more) as anyone. I've only enjoyed approximately 40% of my Sundays over the last 12 years. But only the most pessimistic of fans would not be encouraged by what we're seeing out of the organization.

If I'm too "optimistic" for your liking...well, then, kiss off. :P

Thank you Eball. I'm a 52 year old Bills fan that went to UB, grew up in Jamestown NY but moved to NJ to get a job and feed my family. I get so tired of reading the negative crap all of the time. I wish the Bills were always in the Super Bowl like the old days but... I still route for them every week ( Sunday Ticket).. I always appreciate reading comments from all of you Bills fans.

I coach high school football here in NJ so I actually have a clue. I really believe that Buddy and Chan know what it takes to get to the next level. I hope I'm right. Whatever happens.. I'll always love the Bills!!

  7. I think the Pats front 3 is one of the best...Two of their LBs are good, two are aging and on their way out....Their cornerbacks have played some of the best football, but weakness in the safety position especially with Harrison missing the playoffs was a big blow....

On offense they have a good running game, which they never used.....have a pretty good OL that gave Tom Brady 7 seconds to throw that TD pass to Gaffney in the back of the endzone.

However, they need better WRs...Chad Jackson might be featured more as a big WR threat next season....

I am sure they will grab the scrubs of other teams this season and make them into very good role players within their system next season..

They also have two first round draft picks and a possible third if they tag & trade Samuel. I hate them too but the cupboard isn't going to be empty any time soon.

  8. Hmmphh.

I thought Boomer was a pile of dung for the most part of his nfl playing time.

    I could be mistaken though.

However I will admit to thinking he's gotten better as a tv guy over the years.

I feel as if I've said these exact words before though. And not too long ago.

Screw it. I've got a real opinion about Boomer. He's a fag.

He will only make it with pretty boys. Therefore, he is out of our league because we are fooball people!! Not fag people! If you want that kind of sh--, get it in Cinci.

Not around here bro. We'll phuck you up!

For all of you Boomer haters, just think back to a game in the late 90's at The Ralph when Boomer was quarterbacking the Jets. There was a play where a Jets offensive lineman moved slightly before the snap. Bruce Smith saw the flinch and roared in unblocked from his DE position and laid out Esiason while he was still under center. Boomer was knocked out cold and carted off of the field.

I am never one to wish an injury on anyone but if you hate Boomer that much, think back to that day and smile.

  9. I'm not sold on Brickashaw. Keeps his arms out a bit too much - a couple of solid shoulder pad hits on his sternum, goodnight.

    614060

That's why he is a good pass blocker and just an average run blocker. He keeps defenders away with those long arms but when he has to match up pad on pad in run blocking he struggles. Add 10-15lbs to his frame and he'll be a solid run blocker as well.

  10. Christ, this is a 5-11 team...we need Marv to "warn" us of the fact that we have a loooong way to go before even smelling the playoffs?

    610699

Good point Ned. If anybody here thinks that we should have a sniff of the playoffs next year then I'll take a hit from that pipe! I am happy that Marv is honest and upfront with the fans.

  11. can you imagine adding aj hawke to our linebacking core???????????? i am just not sure if you have great linebackers ,but you have a aging dt in sam adams you would be able to stop the run.now if we could do aj in the 1st and find another dt in free agency to help sam out or if tim anderson can finially improve a little we could have a good defense again...trade off would be we didnt address the oline again though.you have to have a balanced team unless your defense is #1 and totally dominate.if you go crazy defense then you need a elite punter/field goal kicker so u can win those 9-6 games.

    607305

The way that Marv used to stockpile linebackers back in the old days it would not surprise me at all if we selected AJ Hawk, assuming he's available. I would love that! I think that linebackers are the soul of your football team, you can't have too many.

That being said, you still need o-line help. I always think you are better off getting o-line help via free agency. The draft picks take too long to learn how to play o-line. Get impact help on D in the draft!

  12. Good idea.  I'm one of the few people who have suggested this in the past.  Mike Williams is a dominant force when he engages people -- unfortunatley, people can run around him.  If he were a DT, it'd actually be the opponent's JOB to engage with him.  He'd dominate, imo.  Bill Belichick switches players from offense to defense and vice versa ALL THE TIME with success.  Unfortunately, we will never have a coach smart enough or creative enough to try the same.

I'll say this.  Mike Williams will be a better DT than Haloti Ngata.

    593900

That's what I think. If it is simplified for MW to just attack an area or a player then he could possibly be dominant, assuming he has the will. A BIG assumption!
